Now that you have met the “King Pin” Rob Hyder, Rocky, and Victor let me introduce myself. My name is Jason Barnes (people just call me Barnes because there are too many Jason’s in the world) and I am the Creative Director for EA Sports MMA. I have been making video games for over 13 years and have worked at EA-Tiburon for over 8 years. At Tiburon I worked on Madden 02 and 03 with a focus on gameplay and mini-camp. After Madden I was the lead designer for NFL Street 1 and 2. On Xbox 360 and PS3 I was the project lead for Central Gameplay when we kicked it off for Madden and NCAA 07. After that I moved on to NFL Tour. From there I started working with a very small team to create the prototype for our MMA game.

On a personal note, before moving to Florida I was living in the San Diego area which, where I grew up. I love sports and have been playing them and watching them my entire life. I played college basketball and still play twice a week in the mornings with other Tiburon employees. I trained MMA for 6 months at the start of our project. My home life is very busy these days with a couple boys under the age of 3. I spend a lot of time rocking a baby while watching UFC Unleashed on Tivo, the fact that Spike has run been running so many episodes has been awesome. My favorite video games outside of Madden and NCAA are action adventure games. Wolverine is the most underrated game I have played in years. I am currently playing Afro Samurai which is just on the verge of being great, but it just too sticky with its platforming and movement and ultimately the sounds are weak during fight sequences.

I have been wanting to make on MMA game since the late 90’s. This is a dream opportunity for me a fan of the sport and fan of sports games so I am looking forward to discussing what features you guys want to see.

Just letting you know, looking sharp with the mohawk man! Which one did you like more, the mohawk or pink hair?

Cafs options - Id like to be able to pick my Cafs Style/Strategy/Tendency Sliders. So I can simulate how I want them to play.

Agressive
Agressive
Passive
Counter Striker

Strategy
Ground Game
Boxing
Wrestling
Striking

Sliders: 1-100
Throws Punches
Throws Kicks
Takedown attempts
Takedown Defense
Check Leg kicks
Uses Clinch
Uses Mauy Thai clinch
Uses Cage
Submission Attempts
GnP

EX. If I made a CAF of the following their Style/Strategy/Tendency Sliders would be

GSP:
Style: Agressive
Strategy: Wrestling

Sliders
Throws Punches - 45%
Throws Kicks - %55
Takedown attempts - %89
Check Leg kicks - %50
Uses Clinch - %34
Uses Mauy Thai clinch - %0
Uses Cage - %50
Submission Attempts - %50
GnP -%50

Special Move: Superman Punch

BJ Penn:
Style: Counter Striker
Strategy:Boxing

Sliders:
Throws Punches - %90
Throws Kicks - %10
Takedown attempts %10
Check Leg kicks %15
Uses Clinch %35
Uses Mauy Thai clinch %0
Uses Cage %13
Submission Attempts %55
GnP %45

Special Move: Rear Naked Choke

Shogun
Style: Agressive
Strategy: Striking

Sliders:
Throws Punches - %50
Throws Kicks - %50
Takedown attempts %60
Check Leg kicks %80
Uses Clinch %30
Uses Mauy Thai clinch %70
Uses Cage %20
Submission Attempts %35
GnP %65

Special: Mauy Thai Knees

All this to make the CAF fight like how you want them to during simulating fights or while your playing against him. You guys havent revealed how CAF system works but I hope SLIDERS can be added if not in already. I like many others plan to bulk up the roster in every division using fighters not licensed. Making guys like GSP, BJ Penn, Shogun, etc. I would love to see them fight like themselves & not templates of a style. So making sliders shoudl help reflect how we expect them to play. Hope this can be done. It makes for very indepth CAFs for career mode.

These sliders have nothing to do with how effective they are or how good their attributes are but how they tend to fight. I could make a CAF that has a high slider for Takedowns attempts but he still sucks at them but that wont stop him from attempting them consitantly.

In NBA 2K you can make the A.I. play how you want, make them tend to shoot threes & make them have a low successrate. For EA Cafs I'd just like to focus on the tendency sliders.
