Hello there fellow players!

Well I'm sure everyone's heard of or experienced the issue of the dastardly "failure to connect to EA online" error.

After much tinkering and an open ticket with EA support I finally got through to a fantastic customer support person who walked me through a few steps to correct the issue, and it actually fixed the problem for me. After not being able to connect for 5 days I am finally playing again.

Ok, so just for clarification, one more time, this is a POSSIBLE fix for this issue as I can't guarantee that it works in all cases, it just happened to work on mine.

NO DOWNLOADING DEMOS, NO TINKERING WITH ACCOUNT SETTINGS.

These instructions are exactly verbatim, that is to say, they are exactly as they were given to me (i wrote them down), Skipping a step or changing the order may adversely affect the end-result of this fix. Please be careful to read the instructions and follow them precisely in order to guarantee the highest chance of success.

Instructions,

1. Turn on your 360 and then navigate to the "System Settings" tab under the MY XBOX heading.

2. Enter the "Memory" settings tab

3. Press "Y" (yellow button) at the screen where you select your Hard Drive (Device Options)

4. A screen will pop up that has the choices "Rename" and "Format". Do not choose either, instead press the following button combination: X-X-Left Upper Bumper-Right Upper Bumper-X-X

5. A screen will come up asking you whether you would like to carry out a maintenance on your XBOX 360 Storage device. Choose "Yes", the process should be brief. This basically is a way to clear out the cache in your 360, think of it like clearing the history and cookies in your PC or Laptop.

6. Once the process is complete sign off your xbox-live account.

7. Return to the "System Settings" tab except this time you will choose "Console Settings"

8. Select "Clock", then choose "Date and Time" (Notice: this option will be unavailable unless you are logged off XBOX Live!)

9. Revert your clock to the date of 11/15/2005 at 12:00AM (Do not worry, this settings will revert upon logging back into Xbox LIVE)

10. Once you have accomplished that log back into Xbox LIVE and try to run your BF 1943 Game

NOTE: The error may persist if the servers are down for maintenance, so please bear in mind that community announcements on the BF 1943 Twitter page will be your best bet as to knowing exactly when you can play and when the next scheduled down time will be.

If it works, congratulations your problem is fixed, and hopefully I will be playing you online soon. If it doesn't well, at least you have exhausted another option and can maybe further narrow down the source of your particular issue.

Also, I would like to thank EA support for proving me wrong in thinking their customer service was terrible. The whole issue was fixed in less than 10 minutes.

Cheers, and see you online!

If this helps you, take a few minutes and post back! that way this post can remain near the top where it can help the most people!

Seriously why do they hide something like that?
I do not have the same problem than you but I do have a e68 error because of my hard drive, maybe your solution can fix it.
Anyway, hiding this is NOT cool, Microsoft.

Thanks for the tip, friend.

Edit: Oh by the way, what is the "bumper"? I'm french so I don't really understand this word.

EDIT (yes, again): That actually did fixed my e68 error, thanks a huge lot mate, really.
Microsoft, again WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?? DON'T HIDE IMPORTANT THINGS LIKE THAT !!

Unfortunately that did nothing for those of us who are having the "not correct permissions" error that denies a log in. Thanks for trying to help out.

This worked for me, thank you so much for the help! I'll outline the steps I took:

First, I went to EA and registered. I linked my X360 account just like it tells you to, but no luck. Then, I did download FNR4 demo, but no luck there either. I didn't have a pop-up to register or anything. Finally, I found this method and tried it, and voila! I was able to get on at about 10:00PM CST. Thanks again, and I hope this helps others!

Glad to see a few of you have had your issues resolved by this fix.

For the rest of you with errors not pertaining the "failed to connect to EA online" issue, I'm sorry.

I would highly recommend you reach EA Support through a quick phone call to 650-628-4322 if you are in the U.S. Sorry guys but I dont have the international number.

Even though the recording said I might have to wait for 20 minutes to get through to a tech, I actually only waited about 5 mins.

Good luck, and keep those posts coming!

Legend! You are an absolute legend no doubt. Never thought I was going to get to play any BF games ever again on the old 360. Thanks for posting this solution. It worked a treat
