What a bunch of garbage. The release date was so close, they should have just finished it and released it. I don't want motion controls for the HD consoles anyway...

Agreed. I play tennis; however when I play a tennis video game, I just want to sit and relax and get my knees iced. If I want to jump around and swing at the air, I would get a wii for that. Most of the time, I play games while laying on my bed before sleeping.

Wow ... 1.8 million EA Active copies to GST's 54,000!

So there could actually be more people playing tennis on EA Active than on GST.

Given these numbers, I wonder if EA's filing all of our feedback and GST 2 wishlists in a folder labelled "Yeah you'd like that wouldn't you?"

... that sits inside another folder called "Potential EA Active Tennis bugs"

This is nonsense. We play Madden, NBA Live, NHL all sitting down without swing motion stick etc. I mean if I wanna play a sport I'll go out and do it. When I play video games I don't wanna swing my arms around, if I did I'd just go out and play the actual sport.

Smash Court 1 was good and #2 set the benchmark. But of course SC3 was a disappointment. VT series is mainly an arcade style game, and Top Spin realistic.... yeah if the desert is cold!!! That game is so flawe it's not funny, and when EA ventured into tennis, all seemed well, but..... guess it's back to SC2 until things get figured out.

EA listen closely, SC2 and Dream Match Tennis, take heed. If you need any consulting, holla.

It's amazing that the 2 games with little resources (Smash Court 2 and Dream Match Tennis) were able to capture the essence of tennis. I thought EA would take this game seriously, but all signs lead otherwise. I am beginning to see the same patterns that were displayed by 2k Sports for Top Spin 3 before its release. I won't be suckered this time into buying the game.

this blows. EA sucks. I was really looking forward to playing this on ps3/360. And i agree with everyone here, if i wanted to play tennis id go outside and play the actual thing. When i'm indoors in the comfort of air conditioning i wna park my butt in front of the telly and press some buttons.

Im so pissed off!!!! I was really looking foreward to that game, it was being touted as the best tennis game ever. If it does ever come out I hope it will be played with controllers and not motion controll. T

Looks like it was going to be crap after all.

"Visually Grand Slam Tennis on Xbox 360 and PlayStation had taken a noticeable jump from the days of the Wii, but was still influenced by the lesser-powered system. Character models were nicely detailed but certainly had Wii-centric touches that lessened their realism."

I think we were too quick to hand the tennis game crown to EA...

Again, tennis enthusiasts are treated like crap. If having cartoons and caricatures representing players is such a wonderful venture, why not do the same for Madden, FIFA, MLB, Golf, and the other franchises of EA? This is madness. Namco, please have your next release similar to Smash Court 2. Smash Court 3 went in the wrong direction. Namco all you need do is to add extra features (online capabilities, DLC, and better graphics) onto Smash Court and you will have a perfect game. EA, congratulations on losing a customer from your other franchises.

I still wish we had gotten some screens before the game was canceled. The developer posting on twitter made it sound great. I don't think Namco is working on another SCT game, and the roster 3 was pretty bad anyway. I guess we just lose. But for 360/PS3 owners who want a great tennis game, we're SOL. Let the streak continue...

Grimm, it seems like these companies like toying with our hopes. First Top Spin 3, now this. In the, after what we went through with 2K, I'm not at all surprised of the outcome. I suppose I'm ashamed to hope that EA could deliver on a proper tennis game.

Yup. Like you, I went back to playing Smash Court 2 just the other day. I just don't get why Namco went away from that game play. Or why other developers didn't copy it or DMT. Minus the risk shots, TS3 was some fun for a while, but I still LOVE playing SCT2. And that game is like six years old.

The sad fact is EA was apparently having all kinds of issues with the 360 version. And since the wii version sold like crap, the 360/ps3 game probably would have been worse. Can you imagine the cartoony style graphics on the hd consoles? Seriously, I had to shake my head and laugh.

*waives white flag* I give up...

^^^ What type of problems dis they have with 360? If I knew how to make video games, my first project would be a proper tennis game. Well, I guess I can use that $60 for something else.

^^^Check out the ign link above. They had issues with ball physics, analog controls, and the graphics that weren't up to par. The person who wrote the article made it sound like it was going to be garbage. Which is weird because the person on twitter made it sound like it was going to be so realistic. I suppose that was a biased opinion since he was involved with development.
