This thread is for constructive feedback about Madden NFL 10. If you've got an issue with the game and want your voice heard, post it here. This thread is not for general impressions. It's also not for folks who are having issues with something they think isn't working properly.

If you'd like to post general likes/dislikes , please do that at the following link. http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/280896.page

If you are running into something you don't think is working properly, visit this link for help. http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/280902.page

This thread is more for folks who have very specific issues they'd like to talk about. For example:

"I like Online Franchise, but what it really needs is..."

How to get the most out of this thread

Be clear about your feedback Try and provide as much detail as possible. Do you want to see more options for equipment? List the things you'd like to see added. Want to see something added to gameplay? List it out as best as you can.

Be constructive Everyone has an opinion and you're all entitled to share yours here, so make the most of it by putting together constructive thoughts. Posts that aren't constructive may be removed as we've got to give priority to people who add something of value to the thread. While we will be focused on addressing immediate issues anyone might have, the feedback in this thread will go on to the game teams for future consideration.

Naturally we'll try and keep an eye on other threads in the forum as well, but this is the official place to post if you want to make sure someone is looking at your suggestion.

Posting this here because I feel like I put it in the wrong thread earlier.

Just to get this out of the way. Yes I do in fact have the game. These impressions are not based on a any demo version, this is the full retail game bought and paid for running on my 360. Look up my 360 gamer tag if you want kingotnw69, I have it up and running right now. Probably going to do one more game before I move onto other things.

I have the 360 version, and I have to say there are a ton of bugs in it. Sometimes the play clock will jump numbers for no apparent reason. At one point I I was playing a normal game (5 minute Q) and about half way through the 2nd Q, the clock jumped to 6:51 and then started jumping around for about 30 seconds before it went back to normal.

There is also quite a few frame rate issues. It isn't too bad, but it is more than any of the previous games for sure.

When you go through your Madden IQ, it looks strange to me. Its blurry, for lack of a better word. Here once again frame rate issues pop up.

Also I am not a fan of all of the micro transactions in the game. I had no idea this was coming and really don't feel like I should have to pay money for addtional features for a sports title. Its a money sink, nothing more. I also can't figure out where to enter my code for the online franchise so thats a bit irratating too, i'm sure i'll figure it out though.

Onto the game play itself. The defensive controls have actually changed a little so thats a bit strange but i'll get used to it. I like the uniform edit feature at the beginning of games. The slower speed is fine with me, it feels normal at this pace. Though the ball seems to get batted around for quite a while when there is a tip now and I don't care for that.

The tackle animations are great, and the menu systems in game are cool. I really like the new injury feature where you can put a player who is only a little bit injured back into the game at risk to further and more serious injury.

All in all... I like the added features (the micro-transactions are lame though) but it seems like the game engine needed more time to develop so it could keep up. The demo definitely played a bit better than the retail version which surprises me. Maybe there is just too much going on in game when you have a fully featured game going.

Good step forward, not quite there. The engine needs some work. Though this is a problem with a hugely high profile game like this having a one year to the date cycle for development.

DEMO VERSION FEEDBACK:

needs adjustment:

*too many interception, fumbles, turnovers. seems the games have avergae of 3 to 4 turnover's per team. of course this is a demo.

from what i have experienced in the demo, i have a few things i want the EA staff to take note!

* JERSEY NAMES - beautiful jersey's, specifically the names. bold, bright, easy to see. (suggestions for created teams should have such a beautiful name feature)
* DURING GAME INTERFACE - the pop up of the name of whom tackeld someone, how many tackles they had that day etc, in the bottom scoreboard section. NICE. kudos!
* ADDITIONS TO LOOKS - towels on QB uniforms. Nice. Long hair for dreads people. what really made me smile was short hair people like Tom Brady's hair showing on the back of his neck because his helmet is higher so it shows his hair. NICE ATTENTION TO DETAIL!
* GAMEPLAY - this is always number one reason for madden to be renewed every year. this year it seems really 'human' in my first plays. i feel it isn't computery feeling.

What gives me reason to buy the Madden game year after year:
* GAMEPLAY - the flow of how the game works, passing, running, picking of plays, AI, gang tackling, balance of realistic gameplay. which this year seems the best so far
* FRANCHISE MODE - offline. This year boasts franchise mode online which i won't be using. i like offline franchise mode for friends to be with friends and play though. If the game has errors the prevent the game from working (IE economic salary cap issues) that prevent me playing. show stopper. this year i am not buying until i know you will FIX any showstopper errors.

What will get me to pre-order a game from you:

*showstopper errors - IE franchise non-functional. or promises are broken or coach contracts broken, or salary cap doesn't work. FIX THESE BEFORE RELEASE AND TELL THE PUBLIC YOU HAVE AND OR PROMISE YOU WILL FIX IT SO THE GAME IS WORKABLE. this is the reason i am not buying this year and waiting till i hear ALL reviews.

I wanted to say that I just played through another game and I am very disappointed in the frame rate on the 360 version. I can't believe none of the reviews have mentioned all the bugs in the release build of the game. I really hope this stuff can be patched out.

I'll give a couple of examples. Its hitching bad enough that I had a TE moving to catch a ball thrown to him, he got what should be about 2-3 yards away from it, the game hung for a moment, and next thing I saw he was laying on the ground after being tackled. This isn't the only thing of this nature to happen, just the one that is sticking out because it really caught me off guard. It only feels smooth a little over half the time.

The in between play TV style camera shots are also fairly erratic on frame rate.

Something else I have been noticing is that textures are loading a little late often times. "popping" is the term for it I believe. A face will be a blur for a good couple of seconds sometimes before it comes in during those TV presentation shots and it completely breaks immersion.

One other thing since we are talking about the game. The anisotropic filtering used seems a bit too high. Specifically the filtering of the player 3D models, they are just a little dull.

I don't know how much of this stuff can be fixed through a patch when we are talking consoles, but it would really help I think. Again, all this is the 360 version.

Progression is the key to franchise mode, but madden does not have a very good system for it and even thow it is improved for 2010 it is not perfect and back-ups will still not progress much. So if I have a back-up he will not progress until I give him playing time, that is unrealistic there is a reason that most teams sit rookie QBs.

My idea is that Madden keeps it's current system for progressing from game stats and the potential rating, but that it adds a new practice feature. The practice feature would alllow the player a certain amount of time (probably between 15 and 25 hours) for each week of the season to be spent on certain drills. The drill would then be simmed. Each drill effects a certain skill (or skills) for a certain position (or positions). However not every practice would result in the increase of ratings. The more time spent on a drill the higher the chance that some of the players effected will receive a boost. You could spend several hours on a drill and receive no boost or you could receive a boost of 1 point for every player involved (but that would be unlikly).

For instance you could set it to: 3 hours on QB accuracy drill (this drill would effect the acuracy of ALL QBs on the roster), 4 hours WR/CB coverage drill (this drill would effect the Route Running rating of all WRs and the Man Coverage rating of all CBs), 5 hours 11 on 11 scrimage (this could effect any relevant rating to any player on the roster), and so on until all of your practice time for that week is used.

Degression could also occur from this. For instance if you don't practice a certain drill for a long time some of the skills effected by that drill may decline.

This system would allow you to groom young players before starting them and add a new level of strategy to franchise mode. I would like as much feedback as possible.

I made a poll to see if the community agrees with me or not here- http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/271744.page
90% says that either they love the Idea or that they are impartial to it.
I think that it is neccesary to franchise mode to have back-ups progress.
I'm sure that EA sports could find a way to improve this Idea.

Game looks great...the diligence and dedication put into the game are evident...here are my suggestions.

1. Add Route Base Passing-the ability to throw to a spot on the field. I want to be able to throw the ball to an area where my receiver will be before he makes his cut..on timing routes and on fades to the corner of the endzone. Right now if I throw the ball before a receiver has made his cut, he'll just continue on a straight line and never make his cut.

2.Add Double Hits-If a Ball carriers momentum is stopped, due to Pro Tak, by one defender, then a second defender should be able to come along and finish off the play. And by "finish," I mean knock the snot out of him.

3.REMOVE Defender ESP-This is concerning when a defender is covering a receiver in pass coverage. Many times while the defender still has the receiver in front of him, he will turn his back to the receiver and make a cut simultaneously or before the receiver does WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING BACK AT THE RECEIVER. And then magically turn around just in time to make an interception without having located the ball previously. The defender should be facing the receiver and if anything make a his cut a split second AFTER the receiver. And the defender's ratings will determined if he can close the gap between him and the receiver, and if he can make a play on the ball or not.

4.REMOVE the Simultaneous Defender Attempted Pick/Tackle animation-DB's cannot have it both ways-If a DB makes a play for an interception, he cannot, while still in the air turn around and make a tackle. It's either one or the other. The better DB's in the league will make better decisions of when to go for the pick or deflection, and when to play it safe and go for the tackle. But if he gambles and goes for the pick, he should be out of position and his momentum should carry him out of the play. If anything there should be a battle in the air, where the receiver is trying to make the catch and the DB is trying to dislodge the ball, similar to Rodney Harrison and David Tyree in the Patriots/Giants Super Bowl the year before last. You should add an animation like that to Madden. And do several variations of it, so it doesn't get stale from us seeing the same animation over and over whenever a pass is broken up.

5.Add more cleat options-The new cleats are a step in the right direction. But the NFL does have a contract with Reebok and Nike for footwear, so both Nike and Reebok's cleats should be in the game. But if for legal reasons you cannot put Nike's cleats in the game, put more of Reebok's actual cleats in the game. The Workhorse D3, the NFL Burner, the Pro 4 Speed III, etc. And if you can add Nikes, then add the Vapor Jet 4.2's, the Air Zoom Flyposits, and the Air Zoom Super Bads. At least a couple more cleat options with option of various colors..black, white, primary team color, secondary team color.

6.Pants Option-Many players wear their pants above the knee. Case in point, your cover athlete for madden 10, Larry Fitzgerald wears his pants above the knee. I would like to see an option for a player to wear his pants below the knee or above the knee.

7.Keep working on the Presentation-Pre-game, Halftime and Postgame. Add some cut scenes with realistic cheerleaders. The ring card girls in Fight Night Round 4 look pretty good. Just borrow those, put 'em in a cheerleading outfit and slap some smiles on them. Keep adding more commentary. Don't get rid of what you have, but just add on to it. A lot of NFL presentations have 3 men in the booth now. Maybe get a different crew for Monday Night Football games to switch it up.

8.Sidelines-Sidelines DURING the play, could use some love. Player models on the sideline during the cut scenes look phenomenal. Player models on the sidelines while the play is going on look like cardboard cut outs. I know memory issue prevent them from looking as polished as the players on the field, but I would like to see them look a little more shapely and muscular, and realistic overall, and have real reactions to what happens on the field. If a teammate breaks off a big run for a first down, the players on the sideline should celebrate. If their QB throws an interceptions, they should get a upset or dejected. Watch NFL sidelines on Sundays and put those animations in your game where appropriate, and not just in the cut scenes.

9.Micro Charges-Get rid of the micro charges...I'm already paying $10 more than I did when I used to buy this game for the PS2 and getting less features. Now you want charge me extras for items that used to be in the game. If you need charge more for a complete game, then do it. But if you are going to charge more, then give your loyal consumers a complete, simulation-style game with real offensive/defensive player interaction and filled with unlockables that are part of the game and you can earn through skillfull play on the football field or in mini-games. But charging extra is bogus and I'm not going to buy any of those extras. If you need more revenue, and since you have the exclusive NFL and ESPN licenses, why not make more NFL games. For instance, make a separate game for NFL Superstar Mode. Make a separate game for those casual gamers you say you want to attract, and make it more of an arcade-style game where you can rocket catch and nano-blitz, etc. And then make a simulation game with real schemes, real gang tackling and double hits, real db coverage, real player speeds, etc. This will do two things. First, it should increase your revenue, which should eliminate your need to micro charge. And secondly it should free up space on the disc so you can make each game more detailed, realistic and in depth. Then you could add complete pregame, halftime and postgame shows, and realistic ingame sidelines, more equipment options, i.e. mouthpieces that attach to the facemasks, realistic ingame crowds who cheer and boo when appropriate, and so on.

10.Running Animations-Keep working on those. I like how a players, if they are going one direction, have to stop their momentum in that direction first, before they can change direction and head upfield. I would like to see variations on the running animations. Tall players should run differently than short players, who should run differently than fat players. Mo cap people of different sizes running and put those variations in the game.

This year's game is a step in the right direction, keep striving for excellence.

PROGRESSIVE LIGHTING !!!

You guys (development team) know what it is. NCAA has had it 3 of the last 4 years on the NEXT-GEN consoles. It was a bit of a letdown that it wasn't included. Is it too much too PATCH for this year? If so, looking forward to seeing it in 2011. Overall Madden 10 remarkeble and has got to be this development team's crowning acheivement. Keep up the good work !!!

It seems like people keep complaining about the small stuff like clothes and animations
but what people want are two things

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER

I'll keep this short and sweet
imagine fifa's online where 11 people play at the same time on both sides
if there was a 5 vs 5 mode where one person was a WR on offense and CB on defense
and the someone was QB on O and DT on defense IT WOULD BE AMAZING

Deeper Superstar mode

Superstar is my favorite mode but it seems lacking. I just want a superstar mode that doesnt get boring after one season because of its dull repetition
its been the same thing since 06 (minus the apartment and the parent combo thing)
just make something creative for the practices (or make it so that u dont have to go thru a loadin screen between practices)
And if you could put your superstar on the offline roster and export it like the useless NCAA draft class option that nobody uses.

and PLEASE, MAKE SOME NEW THINGS TO DO IN THE AGENT OFFICE
all you can do in there is sabotage our career in there

Stuff to bring back

Me and my bro cant play more than one full offline football game because they are long and draining
but mini-camp is the only thing that never gets old
all i want is the Mini Camp from '06 back where u do Coffin Corner Punts and Swatting the balls from stationary targets and Catching drills and Field goals that got harder and harder

why did you guys get rid of those fun drills and replace them with the bench press??? WHY???
the old drills would make superstar mode bearable

And remember the mini-camp mode on madden 06? with the kicking and the punting?

finallymadden cards, madden cards madden cards
BRING EM BACK, it made it funner for longer
taking those out, took out the arcade feel out of madden and it never came back
madden now is like a simulation racing game compared to old madden which was like need for speed underground 1

EVEN WITH ALL MY COMPLAINTS I WILL STILL BUY IT EVERY YEAR BECAUSE I LOVE YOU MADDEN

As far as I can tell there is no way to make wholesale before-the-game formation substitutions.

I know in the playcalling screen I can swap out certain packages, like "Spell RB" etc, but that's not what I'm talking about.

For example, I play as Dallas. In numerous defensive schemes Demarcus Ware is automatically placed (as a LB) in coverage, yet they'll still have a four man line. I want to sub, in that package, Ware into the down lineman role, and then I'll put Jason Williams or Bobby Carpenter or something into that nickle backer role.

In the same situation (Ware moving to end), I'd like my end (Marcus Spears) to move inside and play tackle, instead of having the computer select by default my backup tackle .... which is Junior Siavii, who sucks.

Is there a way to change this that I'm not seeing?

- online lags a bit when you kick/punt
- i want online to be on "slow" not "normal"
- game froze on me several times (while in menus, while connecting to an Oline match)
- lag in online causes protak glitches. like i know my oponenets RB is gonna fall, but he magially gets up from the ground and picks more yards

most of all

I DONT HAVE AN ONLINE FRANCHISE CODE ON THE BACK OF MY MANUAL!!!

i have been playing madden since as long as its been a game. I love it but have one problem with 2010.I'm used to the old controller layout and now i can't change it.i could not afford the game last year due to a new baby 'but was told u couldn't change it on 09 either.i know i'm only one person but this discourages me from playing the game. i hope that there will be some kind of update to where u can change the controller configuration

you cannot sub on special teams kickoff, return or punt, which takes out the realism of the "simulation". Special teams are a huge part of the game, I want my rookies to be in on special teams, to develop, not a 10 year slow veteran who doesnt play them in real life. this is huge for me especially on 4th and medium inside their 50-40, the Bears like to sub Garrett Wolfe in for a direct snap in real life football on occassion, yet I cannot make that substitution on punt, because you can only make FG subs... Last years play calling and substitutions were so much better. I don't want my slot reciever running down on Kickoffs, I want my rookies (granted the Bears only have 5 WR in game, and the 2 who look the best in practice are not even in Madden (Rideau & D.A.). Last year on 09 in franchise, I had my Kickoff team so good that teams barely made it to the 20, I signed players specifically for my kickoff, much like real life (Brendon Ayanbadejo) (Larry Izzo in the past).. now theres no point because you cant put them in the right spot
