Hey guys,

Online game speed has clearly been a hot topic not just here on our board, but across the community in the last week. The dev team has taken a lot of care in evaluating their recent test and have made a decision on how this will be addressed.

After running a test with the default game speed set to Slow and reviewing the thousands of messages we’ve received from our fans, we’ve decided to leave the default game speed online at Slow. This setting matches the default setting used in offline games and provides the ideal combination of fun gameplay and the most accurate simulation of NFL football.

We know there are different views about this and we encourage everyone to post their thoughts in this thread in a manner that is respectful to others' opinions. We do reserve the right to remove comments that aren't forum appropriate, so let's use some care in replying to each other and we can have a constructive conversation about this.

Thanks,

raczilla

So let me get this straight: There was absolutely NO WAY that you could patch this into the game as-is?

I can already see this being a feature in madden nfl '11. Disappointed right now.

That's what I'm talkin about, good move EA. The slow speed is way more demonstrative of real nfl football, people that disagree are just used to the super speed used in the previous madden games. Slow gives you more time to find open receivers, find the hole when running and time to juke defenders, the normal just doesn't represent real football. Now all that is need is to stop the auto hurdle/juke/break tackle because it sucks when u have somebody stopped in the backfield and they break free just because the cpu wants them to, u should have to earn your jukes

RAC, please tell me you're kidding? Slow is acceptable for offline , but with the already slower game speed online, normal was the perfect setting! Slow is like playing in quick sand online.

I speak for the rest of the MM/VSN community when I say this is a bad decision!!

Not a big fan of the change, doesn't make much sense to me when normal was working just fine. And all polls here on this forum and on OS were nearly even on the subject how that warrants a change. People were having fun on normal save a small group before it was offered. I guess at least this shows that this has to be an option for unranked games and online franchises for next year.

so, let me get this straight. You hold a week long debate/discussion over slow or normal, and there are polls up on all the major websites including this one as well as OS where a few devs are stationed. NONE of the polls come back as a clear advantage to slow, and the community feedback was more negative than good. 65% of the people on your own forums said they liked normal better, yet after listening "to us" you keep it on slow?

i fail to see your logic.

honestly, the difference between 'slow' and 'normal' isn't that much. it's probably word psychology at this point LOL. if they had termed 'slow' instead as 'regular' or 'normal' then there wouldn't be so much complaining and whining.

plus i think most people are just scared of change... they'll get used to it and like it.

the one thing it really does though is make the passing game on all-pro ridiculously easy. but then the difference between all-madden and all-pro this year is very high. much greater than previous years.

so basically...slow gives bad players a better chance? Normal didn't allow anyone to "superspeed" away either. The QB doesn't have 5-7 seconds to make a read every play, which is what your implying you want in a sim NFL game, he has a quick body clock, making quick reads.
