Here's the official thread for posting nominations. You can also send nominations to footballcommunity@ea.com. Feel free to post as many items for nomination as you like. Fan nomination are open until the end of October, at which point we'll close this thread and the HOF selection committee will whittle down the nomination list to 20 items for fans to vote on.
This thread is for the nomination and discussion of nominations so please try and keep the thread on topic. Feel free to comment on other nominations that have been posted. You are also welcome to nominate something that's already been posted. If you'd like to add additional comments to an item someone else has submitted, please do so. We may moderate the thread or edit posts to keep things on track.
What about the categories?
We have three categories for the Madden NFL HOF. They are People, Features/Concepts, and Culture. People represents anyone who has worked on the game, been involved in the series, or players who have been great at the game. Features and Concepts are for specific features or ideas that have contributed to the innovation of Madden throughout the years. Culture is for items that have significantly contributed to the culture or lure of Madden, such as Madden Bowl, the Madden Challenge, Community Day,etc.
While we do want to let you know about the three categories, it's not necessary to post which category you think your submission should fit in. We'll take care of that later in the process!
What kind of things can be nominated?
You can nominate anything you like. You can nominate players like Barry Sanders or Randy Moss, people who worked on the game, your favorite features, traditions such as Maddenoliday, tournaments, etc. Anything related to the Madden NFL series can be added, so use your creativity and post some unique thoughts!
What should my submission include?
Your submission should include anything you think will help the HOF committee chose your item for the final list of 20 candidates that fans will vote on. You can post a paragraph or two about why you nominated something, include videos, screens, or links to any relevant material you think will help you make your case, etc.
In the next post below I've submitted an example of a submission. Feel free to copy that format if you need help in figuring out how to submit something.
Let the submissions begin!

Here's my example submission for anyone who is looking for ideas on how to present theirs.
I Nominate: The Hit Stick
I'm nominating the hit stick feature from Madden NFL 05. This was a stand-out feature in a year that had a strong focus on the defensive side of the ball, but has also seen some changes over the years and has become a feature that didn't just stand out for a single year, but has remained one of the most popular features in the history of the series.
I remember the first time I played Madden NFL 05 and saw some of the vicious hit stick animations. I was in a room at a Madden Community Day and there were a bunch of "oohs" and "aahs" as we saw how Madden NFL 04's Playmaker controls had met their match.
Something else that's huge for me when it comes to the hit stick is not just how it's evolved football gaming but how it's entered the football lexicon. If you listen to a football broadcast you'll hear commentators referencing this hit stick when there's a jarring tackle in the game. That's a huge compliment to a feature that's transcending sports gaming and has made its way into real life sports discussion.
If you search for "hit stick" on YouTube, you actually get a bunch of real life sports videos, which shows just how much of an impact this feature has had on sports fans. Check out a video below from the Madden NFL 08 campaign that featured Hit Stick 2.0, advancing the feature to allow fans to choose between hi and low tackles when flicking the right stick.

Vick was by far the most dominating player since Barry Sanders to be put into any Madden game. Rocket arm, blazing speed, and better moves than most RBs in the game, Vick was an absolute monster. At some point we were all embarrassed when he just ran past our QB spy only to score a TD. Even with his fumble issues Vick in Madden 04 was by far one of the most dominant players in madden history.
1. Hit Stick; it changed how the game was played. point blank.
2. Playmaker (Madden 04'); see #1
3. Madden 2005; I don't know if you can necessarily nominate games, but for me, this was hands down the best Madden ever. Gameplay was fluid; presentation was better than anything before it; progressive lighting made evening games awesome; I mean need I say more?
4. Madden 2004 soundtrack; to me the best Madden soundtrack ever. A close second would be Madden 03, maybe.
5. Michael Vick, Madden 2004; If you played with the Falcons, 9 times out of 10 you won. His speed plus the playmaker additions made him so hard to stop. If you played against the Falcons, 9 times out of 10 you ended up with a broken controller, either out of anger, or trying to run all over the field to stop Vick.
6. Devin Hester, Madden 2008; ONLY PLAYER EVER TO HAVE 100 SPEED RATING. enough said
7. Pro-Tak, Madden 10; really made the game more realistic, and just helped give the game a lot of "oh snap" moments. Heck, can I just nominate the entire game?! Madden 10 is (other than 05) the best Madden to date! Not perfect, but if built on, can bring back the times of Madden 03, 04, and 05, each game built on each other to become almost like a dynasty of games.
8. Last but not least, John Madden himself. I mean, the game just doesn't sound right with any other name. I don't know what all he's done behind the scenes to make this series what it has become, but I'm sure enough to be the VERY FIRST inductee. Thanks for the privilege to voice my opinion.
The Madden Curse should be in the Madden Hall of Fame. It is talked about every year and has really become part of the game. Every year it seems the cover athlete or in this case cover athletes get injured or have subpar seasons. Brett Favre's terrible second half Michael Vicks broken leg. The list goes on and on. Look what happened to Vince Young!!
It should not require a drawn out explanation as to why Hawkins should be a first-balloter. It is what it is. Anything else than being #1 on the list would be a travesty and render the Madden hall-of-fame utterly without credibility.

I agree with this.
Also, Jerome Bettis in Madden 64. If you just held "C-up" (I think that was spin?) he would never ever get tackled. It was the equivalent of Bo Jackson on TSB.
1. Madden 2010's Truck Stick. I have plowed through mini piles with Tony Dorcett (Probably the Best RB in Madden 10), I have glanced off tacklers, knocked down tacklers broken out of tackles and turned what looked like was going to be a 3 yard loss into a 5 yard gain. It is the most fun for me in 2010.
2. Madden 2010's graphics team. The best looking football game ever made. It makes NCAA 10 look like a PS1 game. I have had people at my house thinking they are watching a real game at first glance. Proving its the little things that count, towel animations, snow melting on the camera lens, texture of the nylon jerseys, it all adds up.
3. The Fans Of Madden. That's right because while EA has made the game, they have asked the fans what direction they want to take the game. Fans have spent countless hours giving feedback on what works and what doesn't.

We talked about this a lot during our committee meeting a few weeks back. The origin of the game. Trip's conversation with John Madden and his insisting it had to be 11 on 11. Pretty important stuff because it set the whole franchise into motion.
I nominate QB vision, I think it was one of the most innovative features ever presented. I think gamers thought it made the game too hard, but I think it was the best way to differentiate between great QB's and average ones. I wish it was still in the game, at least as a option or slider.

I nominate the Create-A-Fan from Madden NFL 2005. This was one of the best Madden's ever with all the new features it had like the Create-A-Fan, EA Sports Talk Radio, and the hit-stick.

You could file this one in three categories. I have to nominate this feature for the most boldest/innovated/controversial feature:
QB Vison Cone
The QB Vision Cone was meant to be the next big step in the passing game that has remain largely the same since the PS2/N64 days. The Vision Cone was the feild of vision representing what the QB see during the play. Passing in the cone give your quarterback the best accuracy on the throw, and throwing outside of it lowers your accuracy since it's a 'blind pass.' The purpose of this feature was to define the difference between the top QBs from the backup and scrub QB that you could have made look elite in years pass.
It's definitely a innovated and bold feature because it changed the way you played the quaterback position. If your using Tom Brady you saw the whole field and it was just like playing Madden 2005. However if he got injured you likely had to use Cassels and his tiny cone forced you to take a bit more time to scan the field. The team found an idea that would address the awareness problem with human controlled QBs. It's controversial though, because the community was fairly split on enjoying the feature. Many loved itm many hated it, and it was a debate that went on for years. Ultimately the feature met it's fate of not sticking around by Madden 08 leaving the team to find a new way to address QB vision without the cons of the feature in the community eyes.
We defiantly saw the reaction of how people would react if the feature was brough back in...
EMTs with a reckless disregard for the health of any player except the one injured. Always a highlight of the game when it made an appearance. An absolute classic that should be one of the first inductees into the Madden HOF.

(the first nomination i'll restrict to pretty much any Madden game released during the PS2 era...)
The Backup Quarterback
unless you had a BIG name like Peyton Manning or Michael Vick you were more than content letting your overpriced starter walk and running through the season with your 70 OVR QB...awareness by the user-controlled QB meant virtually nothing and since even the most inaccurate passers still drilled their receivers in step, you could free up a ton of cap space in franchise mode by employing a low-rated QB who would happen to be the league MVP every year as well...let's just say that i am glad that accuracy tends to actually mean something these days and differences in throwing power around the league are clearly as well...but i shall never forget the championships and MVPs won with my no-name QBs...
Trung Canidate
maybe its just me...but from 2000-2003 when Trung Canidate was still in the league, he was often the first acquisition i made regardless of the team i played with...Canidate was pretty much the fastest runningback in the game and he could be had for a gum wrapper and a can of cola (or a low-round draft pick and very little cash spent on his yearly salary)...he could burn to the outside every play and was a solid receiver as well...he was another yearly MVP candidate in my franchises...
Winning the Super Bowl and Having Ten First-Round Draft Picks at Your Disposal
as any franchise buff could tell you, it was entirely too easy to load up on 1st round draft picks back in those glorious PS2 days...in the off-season you simply trade off your overpriced veterans to load up on draft picks...but what REALLY makes this classic was the week six 1st round pick acquisition period...by the time week six rolls around...you can have a pretty good idea of which teams will be the worst teams in the league...due to shady draft pick trade logic, the teams with the WORST records in the middle of the season have the draft picks with the lowest trade value...and the teams with the BEST records in the middle of the season have the draft picks with the highest trade value...obviously, my teams would be 6-0 at week six (the trade deadline) and i would trade off all of my draft picks to the teams with the worst records (0-6, 1-5, 2-4, etc.) and i would always get the better value because of the screwy draft logic...with some careful swapping i could easily maneuver my draft picks and the acquired draft picks for a plethora a high first-rounders...ensuring that my powerhouse would continue to be just that for years to come...
