Roster and Ratings Discussion: Detroit Lions

Hey guys, we are going to use this thread as the catch all Detroit Lions roster and ratings discussion. Got a problem with a guy being rated too high or too low, this is the place to speak your mind, but please keep it clean. If there is a guy on your team that’s not in the game, feel free to post that in here as well.

When you bring your argument, make sure you bring stats and provide as much reasoning as possible. Rating s Czar Donny Moore will be stopping by this thread from time to time, so your voice will actually be heard by the guy in charge of making all of the roster and ratings decisions for Madden NFL 10. Make it worthwhile.

kevin smith speed should be higher

Well Drew Stanton should be rated higher... Im not to much a fan of his but he has been solid in the preseason... he is much better then a 47. K. Smith should be faster or quicker. D. Williams is 12 not 13. J. Dizon is listed as an OLB and D. Levy is a MLB... I still believe A. Brown can use a couple points in either spd or agl bc the man can move... and i really do hate to say it but Culpepper should be rated closer to Stafford... in my opinion.

Make Culpepper better.
He is the best QB on the team
His rating should reflect that.

Jerome Felton needs to be on the team.

D. Bullocks and J. Devries are out for the season... I. Alama Francis is an DE... and im not sure if this is the forum for this, but when you make a tackle with W. James the announcers say Will Peterson... not a big deal but it is kinda messed up... and Culpepper should be rated better

Kevin smiths speed is good where its at ( he usually gets caught from behind) BUT the GM martin mayhew believes that Aaron brown is th fastest player on the TEAM so his speed could go up. ADD JEROME FELTON he is a TWO year STARTER there's no reason he shouldn't be in the game..

Stanton should be higher overall than a 47

Anthony Henry's speed is much higher than a 76, how can you even play CB in the NFL with a 76 speed?

Take Keith Smith off the roster, the Lions released him.

Where's Zack Follett?

Add Stuart Schweigert, why he wasn't on the roster from the start blows my mind.

As others have said, Felton needs to be there and Brown should probably be faster.

Probably nothing you can do about this one, but Matt Stafford really looks nothing like he should. What's the jet black hair all about?!

I noticed that too...lol, he also looks overweight when standing on the sidelines talking on the phone.

I have played with these guys in game, let me start by saying NMO Derik Williams should be starting despite Im a hugh psu fan, but his speed and awareness from last year is great! I know that he is a rookie but that doesnt mean much, also the running game is awesome and they have pretty good tight end! Drew Stanton is a good quarter back only thing is in the gm he isnt that mobile, over all they are better than a 65 rating, despite there no win season. If your like me and got "Stick" You can win with them I have plenty of times!

I won't comment on who needs to be added to the roster other than Jerome Felton. It's clear he is on the team, it's fair to say it was clear before Madden was even released that he was going to be on the roster for the season. Other than that, I have no problem with waiting to add players until after the final cuts Saturday. I do suggest moving DeVries and Bullocks to FA to free up two roster spots. Also, Lamarcus Hicks was cut.

Some general player changes:

Derrick Williams is #12, not #13

Keary Colbert is #83, not #19 (may not matter if he gets cut)

DeAndre Levy is a MLB, not a OLB

Jordan Dizon is an OLB, not a MLB

Louis Delmas is a FS, not a SS

Some players deserving of a ratings increase:

Daunte Culpepper - He has completed 65% of his passes this preseason and has looked very solid.

Kevin Smith - 18 carries for 85 yards (4.7) and 7 catches for 73 yards (10.4). I don't think people realize how good he really is. But if you watch a Lions game you will see.

Gosder Cherilus - He has been pretty dominant in the preseason. A lot better in pass protection than he was a year ago.

DeAndre Levy - He is tied for the team lead in tackles. He has been flying around the field when he has been in. I think a speed increase and possibly pursuit increase is due. His top 40 time was a 4.47 (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=61426&draftyear=2009&genpos=OLB).

Some platers deserving of a ratings decrease:

Maurice Morris - Only averaging 2.7 yards a carry in the preseason. He has looked slow in comparison to Kevin Smith and Aaron Brown. If Kevin Smith's speed stays at 86 than Morris' needs to be at around 84.

Anthony Henry and Philip Buchanon could both go down to around 75ish. They haven't performed bad, but I don't think they are as good as other cornerbacks rated between 76 and 78.

There are a few other people that I think could use an increase... Calvin Johnson, Manny Ramirez, and Cliff Avril, but I'm okay with waiting on these. I could also see a few others with a ratings decrease... Stephen Peterman (penalties galore), Aveion Cason (if he doesn't get cut), Keary Colbert (if he doesn't get cut), and Jon Jansen (Cherilus is a 75 and has out played him by far).

I'll update this again tonight after the game.

Kalvin Pearson should get a ratings increase since he will probably be the starting strong safety and move Delmas to starting free safety
also change Ernie Sims facemask to the standard 4 titan normal (looks more like the facemask he wears now)
give aaron brown a 2bar rb
and change Julian Peterson's jersey to sleeveless and give him black double wristbands on both wrists and take off his armband..thanks
