Hey guys, we are going to use this thread as the catch all Minnesota Vikings roster and ratings discussion. Got a problem with a guy being rated too high or too low, this is the place to speak your mind, but please keep it clean. If there is a guy on your team that’s not in the game, feel free to post that in here as well.
When you bring your argument, make sure you bring stats and provide as much reasoning as possible. Rating s Czar Donny Moore will be stopping by this thread from time to time, so your voice will actually be heard by the guy in charge of making all of the roster and ratings decisions for Madden NFL 10. Make it worthwhile.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

I will double check tonight and i might add something... but at this point, John David Booty was killed when Favre was added and the Vikings are unlikely to part ways with him, Childress likes him and wants to develope him. He might end up on the practice squad but more than likely will be 3rd string with a possible T-Jack trade... They have also said having four QBs for regular season isn't that bad of a thing with a 40 year QB... just sayin...
In addition, as for player ratings, I have to question Sidney Rice's speed rating... ... an 80? really, 80? This guy isn't going to blow by every corner on way to burning the cover safety but this guy is faster than 80. He ran a 4.5 40 which isn't exactly smokin but you have to admit he still has NFL WR speed. This guy is often mentioned as someone who can be a deep threat. At 80 in game, never could be a deep threat, so not exactly realistic. You have to believe this guy is faster than nearly every TE but that speed rating doesnt show that. I also understand this guy was plagued by injuries last two years, but healthy now and with Favre slinging him passes, you will see his speed is way underrated.
Also, Bernard Berrian... i forget what his speed is, 87? I believe, not sure if it needs to be changed but I believe this is due to him not being a big name player. This guy IS our Deep threat reciever. Hard to do that in game with 87. It can be done, but, for a player that LEAD THE LEAGUE in YARDS PER CATCH, this low 87 speed is a little ODD? Also, just to add more info into this being really strange for him, is that he had seven catches of 40 yards or more, good for third in the NFL in that category. Only two other recievers had more DEEP THREAT receptions of 40 yards or more than Berrian but again, he finished with the most yards per catch...
Also, ESPN's Christopher Harris, had this to say, "From what I've seen, Berrian isn't merely a run-straight-down-the-field-waving-your-arms guy anymore, the way he was his first couple years in Chicago. He runs routes now. But he's not an over-the-middle guy, not really a possession guy. He's a deep threat's deep threat."
Deep threat's deep threat I believe has higher than 87 speed....
Just my $0.02 thou...

Ok, I was @ work and must have misremembered, on ps3, that sounds much more reasonable, but still standing firm on Sidney Rice's need for more speed...

Please let us Put Percy Harvin in the Backfield... In the vikes preseason game vs the texans percy harvin motioned into the backfield and lined up to Favres left, with AD on favres right out of the gun. Please let us do this... If its in the game, ITS IN THE GAME!!!! right????
I realize this could potentially be exploited, but how about only let us do it with WRs that do it/ have done it in real games. Like let me sub Percy Harvin for a RB, after all he did have a lot of carries at Florida and Im sure we will see him line up as a RB this year for minnesota, we already have seen it a few times in preseason.

QB
Good job here. Favre doesn't wear the undershirt though (seems like when he's indoors). Please take that off. It would be nice to have Booty back.
RB
Taylor a little low for being one of the best backups in the league. Only stats to back it up is in '06 he rushed for over 1200yds when he wasn't splitting carries. He had 45rec and 6TDs last year even w/AP there.
FB
Good job here.
WR
Berrian averaged 20yds per catch last year! Mid 80's would be more realistic but you're not far off. He's yet to have a good QB and has to stay healthy.
Rice is the Vikings #2 WR & rated a 71. 80 speed? He ran a 4.49 40yd. Upper 70's would make sense. Fitzgerald, Jennings, Marshall & S.Rice all worked together this offseason with Chris Carter & Jerry Rice. He's looking very good.
TE
Shiancoe has been a monster this pre-season. Only two TE's caught more TD's last year. Gonzo & Gates. A little love here would be good.
OL
Good job here. McKinnie is overrated really. Could drop him a couple. Loadholdt a little underrated, the kids size alone should throw him in the mid 70's lol. He's looked good.
DL
Very good job, only thing is Jared Allen and his speed. 77 seems a bit low compared to a lot of the other DE's out there. Allen is pretty dang quick.
LB
Henderson is a beast and the heart of our LBs. He should be rated close to Greenway. Henderson was hurt last year yes, but in 2007 he had 118tackles & 4.5 sacks. Greenway had 115tackles & 5.5 sacks last year. Leber's rating confuses me a little bit. He looked good in the pre-season getting a INT & had 2ints last year with 1FF & 1.5sacks & 64tackles. Please remember he plays directly behind Jared Allen and Kevin Williams. He is good in coverage. Mid 70's would seem fair.
DB
Very good job. Winfields tackle could be a couple higher, Asher Allen making a name for himself. Otherwise good job here.
K&P
Very good job.

Adrian Peterson i know he is the best back in da game but i was looking at the others backs ahead of him in some categories like speed, strength, agility, acceleration, elusiveness an he should at least have 1 more point to those areas . Also are tight end visanthe shiancoe is underrated in the game he should get some love.

Sidney Rice's speed should DEFINITELY be higher than an 80. 85 or 86 sounds about right. He's 6'4", and ran a 4.49 40 yard dash. He's a decently fast guy. With his current speed rating I actually had a linebacker chase me down in the open field... it was ridiculous.
Also... Brett Favre's short and mid-range accuracy should be in the 80's, not the 70's. His ratings are very similar to Tarvaris Jackson as far as accuracy goes... which is WAY OFF.

Percy Harvin should definitely be able to lineup in the backfield as a RB. That's one of the reasons that makes Harvin so valuable is because he is able to play WR/RB and QB in the Wildcat (which isn't even in the MN playbook)
Percy and other WR's like him should be able to lineup in the RB position. If the NFL allows it... EA should too.

I posted a thread above but I understand you don't have time to read all of these. I'll go off your request bro.
Season ticket holder for 11 years and a realist. Not a homer. I know how much the Vikings choke.
Top 3 players that need to be INCREASED (from your favorite team)
1. TE-Shiancoe - Only 2 TE's caught more TD's last year. Gonzo & Gates. Having a great pre-season & catching everything thrown his way. Leading the team. Mid 80's.
2. WR-Rice - the Vikings #2 WR. 80 speed? He ran a 4.49 40yd, nothing great but not terrible either. Fitzgerald, G.Jennings, B.Marshall & S.Rice all worked together this offseason with Chris Carter & Jerry Rice, I understand that's not automatic he'll be better but it can't hurt. I was at training camp and I can see he's really improved. He's looking very good. A lot of potential. He should be above Wade and be around what Harvin is.
3. OLB-Leber - Please remember who's in front of him on that side. Jared Allen & Kevin Williams. He had a nice INT in preseason. He had 2ints last year with 1FF & 1.5sacks & 64tackles. He is good in coverage so his speed is a bit low. Mid 70's would seem fair OVR.
Top 3 players that need to be DECREASED (from your favorite team)
1. OL-Mckinnie - Not consistent. He gets beat on the pass rush when lazy (seems too often), but is great otherwise. Could drop 2.
2. FB-Tahi - Seeing him be rated next to Chester Taylor isn't right. Chester is a quality backup at RB and Tahi is an avg FB. Could drop 2.
3. DT-K.Williams - Am I really saying this? lol. He could drop 1. Rating wise he's up there with Peterson and Jared Allen. I just don't know if he's really on their level. Even though he's one of the best. Please make sure it shows the Vikings run defense being the best possible when the team comparisons are up before the game starts. They have been #1 for several years against the run now.
Thanks for all your time and effory bro.

Jared Allen isnt that fast 77 is good for him. Hes just a rentless player that keeps going and going until he hears a whistle.

ok the minnesota overall defense needs to be increased. In the load screen statistics page, the vikings have 2 bars for rush defense and the chargers, ravens, and steelers have 3. I can understand ravens and steelers having 3 bars but how can the chargers have 3 and the vikings have 2? The Vikings have been the number 1 rush defense in the league for like 3 years straight! FIX THIS EA!

bobby wade is rated too high, he was a bad player last year so i think he deserves a rating cut... also i think that tavaris needs better throw on the run becase that is what he does. also i think Brett needs a better deep throw accuracy and short throw accuracy. peterson needs more potential... he needs to be a 99 at some point. and vistanthe shiancoe needs a higher rating and so does loadholt... now onto the defeense... i think E.J henderson needs a better rating... he is a beast that head hunts ask any viking fan or any fan period that watches him play. ben leber needs to be a teency weency bit better... escpecially his catch rating. one guy on the D that i think really needs to be fixed is Tyrell Johnson... this kid is a GREAT tackler and has hands that will pick, plus he is fast so i think if not his overall at least his potentil. youll see how good he does this year. and another guy in the secondary that is underratted is cedric griffen he is a lot better than people give him credit for so if anything up his potential. and mediou williams he needs a little boost and the last guy is ray edwards... honestly i think his grade deserves to dive way down

im not a viks fan but im fare to all players... adrian peterson is to me the best back in the NFL but he's not better then every one in every category.
Trucking: 98 (one point away from Big Jacobs) ADP can truck people his size like al harris.
New rating: 85
Strength: 85 (when LT is only 70)
New rating: 78
Stiff Arm: 97 or 98 i believe (either the same or more than marion barber)
New rating: 90
Ball Carrier Vision: should be 99 or 100.
Speed should be at least one point lower but acceleration should be 100. ( i know yall can still make 100 rating because Lou groza the kicker in nfl greats has 100 KP).
