Hey guys, we are going to use this thread as the catch all Cleveland Browns roster and ratings discussion. Got a problem with a guy being rated too high or too low, this is the place to speak your mind, but please keep it clean. If there is a guy on your team that’s not in the game, feel free to post that in here as well.

When you bring your argument, make sure you bring stats and provide as much reasoning as possible. Rating s Czar Donny Moore will be stopping by this thread from time to time, so your voice will actually be heard by the guy in charge of making all of the roster and ratings decisions for Madden NFL 10. Make it worthwhile.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

For next Gen:

QB: Both quarterbacks have looked good during preseason.

Quinn needs his awarness as well as his short and deep throw accuracy raised. He has played much better than Stafford just to name one qb that is rated higher than him in the game.

Andersons short accuracy has gotten a little better, still throws behing players, but better than where he left off last season. Quinn will be the starter come week one.

HB: James Davis "might" be the real deal. He has looked very sharp and deserves a bump up in his overall. He seems to have good speed/size as well as good vision hitting the holes. He can also catch the ball out of the backfield well.

WR: Cribbs has finally gotten a real chance to become a wideout this preseason. And so far he has proven that he can step up to the job. He needs to be rated in the 70's and please increase his stiff arm!!!!! This guy is a monster! He run's much better routes than Hester.

DT: Ahtyba Rubin has taken advantage of Rogers absents in preseason and has shown that he can step in and play a big role with our line. He helped the rest of the defense shut down chris johnson last saturday. He needs to be rated between 68-70 overall.

LB: Alex Hall needs a bump in overall.
David Veikune needs to be moved back to OLB.
Dqwell Jackson needs a slight boost, he's picking up where he left off last year and is making tackles and forced a fumble last week.
Kaluka Maiava MLB is going to be a beast on special teams, should be rated in the 60's.

CB: Coye Francies has shown lots of potenial

IR: Ryan Tucker
Fred Weary

Remove: Rod Hood
Black Costanzo
Paul Hubbard

Add: DB Corey Ivy
MLB Beau Bell (for now)

Jerome Harrison: His carries are way to low. He fumbles on nearly every hit on Madden. The guy has fumbled once in his career.

Mike Furrey: The guy led the NFC in receptions 2 years ago and now he is in the low 60's? He needs upgraded.

Eric Wright: He is a much better CB than he is given credit for. Has a pic nearly returned for TD in preseason.

Brady Quinn: Needs an upgrade in arm strength and down field accuracy., heck, overall accuracy.

Derek Anderson: Needs updated overall

James Davis: Speed is too low. Did you guys see his 81 yard run on a draw?

Josh Cribbs: Give me a break. This guy is very underrated as a WR. He is fighting Furrey for the #2 WR spot (Furrey is underrated as well)

Alex Hall: Very under rated. Starting OLB. Has played the run very well vs #1s in preseason and intercepted a pass and returned it for a TD.

Coye Francies: Under rated. Rod Hood was released because Francies beat him out for the position

Alex Mack: Needs upgraded overall has been playing very well

Kenyon Coleman: Very stout against the run, needs upgraded.

Atyba Rubin: Much better against the run in real life than on the game. Lacks pass rush skills

Browns D depth is as follows:
ILBs: Eric Barton, DQ Jackson are starters. David Veikune, Leon Williams are backups.
OLBS: Kamerion Wimbley, Alex Hall are starters. Leon Williams, David Bowens, and Marcus Bernard are backups.
RDE: Corey Williams backed up by Robaire Smith and Santonio Thomas
LDE: Kenyon Coleman backed up by CJ Mosley and Santonio Thomas
NT: Shaun Rogers backed up by Atyba Rubin
CBs: 1) Eric Wright 2) Brandon McDonald 3) Corey Ivy 4) Coye Francies 5) Hank Poteat
FS: Brodney Pool backed up by Mike Adams
SS: Abraham Elam backed up by Bret Lockett

I see a lot of you feel the same way about James Davis that I do. Being a Browns fan, I'm curious to see if any of you think that he will take the starting job away from Jamal this year?

Just read a very intersting piece from Jerry Butler (speed coach who works with Browns currently) says that Davis runs a legit 4.3 and is one of the fastest player on the Browns (source: Sporting News Daily Online Magazine).

Sounds like a speed boost to me!

Crazy how these guys can run so drastically from one time to another. His forty time at the combine was awful.

See...40 times at the combine aren't everything

Not a real big deal , but can you switch Brady Quinn's Helmet to a Revolution with a Revo Normal facemask.

Jamal Lewis will be a goal line back by year end. Davis is doing well. I think that this agility might be under rated too. Go back and look at game tape versus Detroit and Tennesse's #1's. He makes the first tackler miss consistently. On his 80 yard run he made a guy miss in the hole and then turned up the speed to outrun everybody to the end zone (which the need to increase his speed already has been hit on)

A general Browns roster comment is that they are under rated as a whole. Too much emphasis has been placed on last year's record which is not indicitive of this years team. Many players have changed and 6 games were played by QBs that will not make an NFL roster as a 3rd string QB...and all 6 were lost. Plus the Browns went from having one of the most difficult schedules in the NFL last year to one of the easier schedules this year.

yeah no sh**....Are you kidding!?? I end up spending up half my time trying to explain to people that 40 time does not equal Madden SPD rating. All about game speed.

Anybody remember Arizona's Chris Henry from the 2007 draft? He put up ridiculous combine numbers.

Fastest RB 40 time (4.4), longest broad jump (10'7"), second fastest 60 yard shuttle and third fastest 20 shuttle (4.16). 26 225 reps. 36" vertical jump. 6' 230 lbs

If combine measurables = Madden ratings then he would be one of the best ever

Good point. He's now the third back I believe on the Titans.

Great. Since we are in agreement then make sure the Browns ratings are correct. Alex Hall, Brady Quinn, Coye Francies, Mike Furrey and James Davis need upgraded immediately
