Roster and Ratings Discussion: Oakland Raiders

Hey guys, we are going to use this thread as the catch all Oakland Raiders roster and ratings discussion. Got a problem with a guy being rated too high or too low, this is the place to speak your mind, but please keep it clean. If there is a guy on your team that’s not in the game, feel free to post that in here as well.

When you bring your argument, make sure you bring stats and provide as much reasoning as possible. Rating s Czar Donny Moore will be stopping by this thread from time to time, so your voice will actually be heard by the guy in charge of making all of the roster and ratings decisions for Madden NFL 10. Make it worthwhile.

As a Raiders fan heres's the Raiders 53 day one roster, with 2 extra for madden. Super easy took me like 30 minutes.

Now, yes I'm fan and have biased appeal as to who I would like to see on the roster, although it's nearly spot on. For instance if Khalif Barnes can could come around or didn't suffer from injury, Seth Wand is a F/A. If Kirk Morrison comes around soon enough from injury Napolean Harris is a F/A, if not he's on the team, Marlon Greenwood is maybe on 53 man roster for Jon Alston. Why I didn't add them? Cause they should be in F/A list, there proven vets!! Along with players like Tony Stewert, Charlie Frye(don't care), Mike Hawkins Thats 5-6 players That should be in Free Agent List only 5 or 6, only 3 needed and I, a Raiders fan could mix n match ,my team forever happily, and I caould even figure out how to get WR Nick Miller in there, who is my super darkhorse to make the cut.

So there you have it, if 32 fans did this and Donny Moore could read, edit, all this would be cleared up in no time at all. As for ratings, they don't bother me a bit, I usually tweak them myself, just like sliders. Just get the players, and pay attention to detail, a Patriots fan should know Moss has junior dreads, right?!?

Sorry, forgot to mention Gary Russell might make team but if he doesn't should be in FA list cuz he will be on a team, if not the Raiders cuz they're stacked at RB.

Chaz schillens is rated too low he needs a ratings boost in following areas

catch from 74 to 78 chaz has solid hands and doesn't drop passes often
route running from 67 to 73 best route runner on team besides walker
beat press from 73 to 77 chaz is physical receiver actually gets jammed at line rarely
run blocking from 38 to 45 good blocker uses his size well
elusiveness from 48 to 60 schillens is good after catch he is way more elusive than walker who is a 49

After a solid training camp and start to preseason chaz has cemented himself as the number 1 raider receiver by far and he should be rated as such he pulled down 5 catches for 55 yards in 1 quarter of work against cowboys in preseason before getting hurt he will be back week 2 and should continue his progress

Jamarcus Russell is rated too low in the following areas

short accuracy from 75 to 77
medium accuracy from 69 to 74
deep accuracy from 62 to 70
Russell has been throwing the ball very well this preseason he has racked up a 96.3 qb rating and a 67% completion percentage and 1 td pass he has also yet to throw a pick this preseason Russell also ended last year on a high note in his last 2 games of the year he went 18-25 thats 72% with 236 yards and 2 td's for a qb rating of 128.1 and the final week of the season he went 14-21 thats 66.7% with 158 yards 2 td's and 1 int for a qb rating of 98.9 if that is not showing steady improvement in accuracy and awareness i don't know what is his last 4 games his qb ratings have been through the roof

Michael bush is rated incorrectly in following areas

speed move from 80 to 84 bush is actually very quick on his feet for a big guy
accel move from 85 to 88
trucking move down from 90 to 86 he tends to juke more than most big guys
elusiveness move from 60 to70
juke move from 69 to a 76 again he is known to be a nimble big man not your typical bruiser

ricky brown is rated wrong in the following areas

tackle move from 77 to 81 brown is solid tackler
zone coverage move down from 55 to 50 pass coverage is his weakness
play recognition move from 69 to 75
block shed move from 76 to 82
Ricky brown is good in box and against the run he is suspect in pass coverage however

Justin fargas is rated too high in following areas
strength move from 77 to 74
acceleration move from 90 to 87
trucking move from 87 to 84
juke move from 75 to 70
bush has passed fargas on depth chart and in skill he should be rated the higheer between the 2 bush should be 78-79 and fargas should be 74-75

Players to add
DT Desmond Bryant he is listed 3rd on depth chart and may even start he is a hybrid lineman in the mold of richard seymore and tommy harris his ratings should be somewhat like this

and finally why is heyward bey rated so low there are guys picked in the late second round that are better than him i agree that we picked him earlier than we should have but he was still a top 5 rated wr going into draft and he should be rated a top 5 rookie wr on the game he needs improvements in following areas

juke from 90 to 94
carrying from 67 to 72 he actually carried the ball alot in college on reverses and things

complete 53 man roster including todays cuts in correct depth chart order

??? Right!? I figured that awhile ago! With exception of Mark Wilson, but kinda figured that was coming too!!But thanks for validating my list, with your posts. Agree with ratings adjustments but will wait til next update to chime in!!

the only ratings that really bug me are russell and schillens schillens is our best wr by far but he is our 4th best on the game and russell's accuracy is just horrible it should be comparable to guys like flacco, stafford, and josh freeman but they all have way better accuracy when in reality they are equal if not worse especially josh freeman give me a break man

Agreed! Russell's looked solid in preseason, needs to play a bit quicker, and have a better pocket presence, but not many picks, and good completion percentage, thing is people just hate the raiders, and just off of past arguments and talking points. Schillins, if not rated based upon preseason, cause he's been injured!! Should surely be based on the last 4 games of last year, he was a legitimate #1 WR. Also Louis Murphy needs some boosts to route running, and a decrease in carry but catching should be solid, although he's dropped some balls, when season starts I think he'll be solid, and funny as it is, probably a solid #2. Chris johnson needs speed boost, ricky brown needs boosted, as you also stated. But I "hope" donny moore realizes this already and we'll see what he puts together for this next update. I mostly hope Slade Norris, and Nick Miller get in the game, they are my fan favs!!

Take FB Lorenzo Neal off of the Raiders. And the Raiders CB speed is just ridiculous, every CB is in the 90's in spd, I understand the Raiders draft for speed but on a Madden game this equals an advantage, if you're gonna make the Raiders field fast lower their acceleraton and agility then, everyone outside of Asomugha is ridiculous!

They even have a SS with a 93 in speed, lol. The Raiders have had 6 straight 10 loss or more seasons, on Madden they are way better than their rating reflects because they are fast and have a great Punter, Strong leg PK, and a QB with a strong arm, and a fast RB, and fast WR's.

Something has to give. ( I understand they are Madden's old team)

People almost hate playing the Raiders because they are unreal.

Their OL should be horrible, holding calls should be frequent, they should blow coverages called by the user due to lack of awareness, their WR's should drop passes, Russell should be way less accurate than he is, especially on the run.

chaz shcilins is easily the teams best reciever and should be rated accordingly

I agree with your beef about the o-line, but about the speed you must be outta your mind, they are super fast, look at 40 times for chris johnson, 4.18 at pro day! Are you kidding me, thats unreal!! So yeah he's fast, Mike Mitchell ran a 4.43, thats pretty fast, Tyvonne Branch ran a 4.31, also very fast, and Nnamdi? 4.45 So If he's your fastest, I say your mistaken.

kevin has no clue you can't just say guys aren't fast because there are other fast players on the team thats probably the stupidest thing ive ever heard.... your right the raiders draft for speed thats why their players are fast you cant make a guy slow because you want to they are either fast or they aren't and we have fast players but they have their weaknesses none of them can tackle you have too rate players based on what they really are so you have no point kid LMAO that was a horrible post

further more russell accuracy is horrible what are you talking about have you even looked at it and our best wideout is a 71 and they all have extremely low catching ability so what is really the problem you must have just got your a$$ kicked by them and your a little sour about it because this post made no sense the only valid argument you had was cutting lo neal and everyone knows that if you cant beat the raiders on madden i would hate 2 see you play pats or eagles you think raiders roster is unreal? you are 1st person 2 ever say that we have more 60's and 70's as starting players than any other team in fact we only have 10 players out of a 55 man roster that are 80 or above 5 of those 10 are lineman and only 2 of those in the 90's and 1 is a freaking punter wtf are you talking about we only have 5 skill position players 80 or above how is that unreal
