Hey guys, we are going to use this thread as the catch all Kansas City Chiefs roster and ratings discussion. Got a problem with a guy being rated too high or too low, this is the place to speak your mind, but please keep it clean. If there is a guy on your team that’s not in the game, feel free to post that in here as well.
When you bring your argument, make sure you bring stats and provide as much reasoning as possible. Rating s Czar Donny Moore will be stopping by this thread from time to time, so your voice will actually be heard by the guy in charge of making all of the roster and ratings decisions for Madden NFL 10. Make it worthwhile.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

Alright here's my take on some players on the Kansas City Chiefs that should get some upgrades on the next madden update #3
Corey Mays: So far a solid preseason for this guy, also has cracked the starting lineup at right inside linebacker. so far 11 tackles, and has been putting pressure on quarterbacks in blitz packages. Very deserving of a boost in the ratings.
Tyson Jackson: Has 1 sack and a half this pre season, and I believe he should lead all rookies in sacks this year. Very hard worker and should be given some type of increase the next update.
Brandon Flowers: Has the potential to a be standout cornerback. Very good in coverage and so far on this year madden, they have been making the chiefs cornerbacks look absolutely horrible, they are better players than madden has them in the ratings. They really need to upgrade the Chiefs corners, especially Flowers.
Ryan Succop: Only has missed on field goal so far this preseason. Needs better kicking power. if your on the 34 or 35 yard line and trying to kick a field goal, its always short. a kicker should be able to make some 50 yard fg's

Here's also a list of potential players to add and remove from the Chiefs roster:
ADD: Andy Studebaker (hopefully makes the team, 2 sacks so far this pre season, leads Chiefs) Jackie Battle (with Kolby Smith likely to start on the injured reseve, the chiefs need another back on the game) Jovan Belcher (leads all Chiefs in tackles this preseason) Matt Gutierrez (another quarterback to the roster perhaps)
REMOVE: Alfonso Boone (really needs to as the Chiefs just cut him today) Quinten Lawerence (should make the team, but the Chiefs have to many wideouts on madden, specially since Lelie signed)

OK where to start!
First of all if you look at last year..... it was not that bad.... 2-14 does suck! But KC were ahead in most of the games until the 4th quaters.... KC didn't kniow how to close out a game! to many rookies on "D"!
Sep 07 KC 10 @ NE 17 <--------- SUPER BOWL CHAMPS
Sep 28 DEN 19 @ KC 33 <------ WIN
Oct 26 KC 24 @ NYJ 28 <--------- Bret Farve come back 4th qtr
Nov 02 TB 30 @ KC 27
Nov 09 KC 19 @ SD 20 <--------- ALWAYS PICKED TO WIN SUPER BOWL
Nov 16 NO 30 @ KC 20
Nov 30 KC 20 @ OAK 13 <------- WIN
Dec 07 KC 17 @ DEN 24
Dec 14 SD 22 @ KC 21 <---------- SD AGAIN STRUGGLES
Dec 21 MIA 38 @ KC 31 <--------- 4TH QTR AGAIN....
And if you look at these preseason games.... KC '"D" has held teams under 17 points.... they just need a offisive line!
Aug 15 HOU 16 @ KC 10
Aug 21 KC 13 @ MIN 17
Aug 29 SEA 14 @ KC 10
SO IT'S NOT FAIR TO COME DOWN ON THIS TEAM! AND I AGREE WITH BOOSTING FLOWERS, CARR, ARE TONS FASTER THAN MADDEN GIVES THEM CREDIT! THEY HAVE KEPT STEP TO STEP WITH PLAYERS LIKE RANDY MOSS AND OCHO CINCO…. AND THEY KEPT THEM FROM HAVING BIG GAMES…. JUST BECAUSE THEY PLAYED ZONE 80% OF THE TIME! ONE ON ONE THEY LOCK IT DOWN! ALSO MAYS , JACKSON SACKS AND HURRY UPS SO FAR BEEN AMAZING…. THESE PLAYERS ARE BECOMING TOP NOTCH PLAYERS REALLY EARLY IN THERE CARRERS….
P.S. ALSO IT WOULD HELP TO ADD THE NEW PLAYERS TO THE TEAM…. IT WILL HELP THERE O-LINE AND RECEIVING…. WITH THE BOYS FROM MIAMI Ndukwe, AND Alleman,…ALSO Lelie, Ashley FOR THE SPEED AT RECIVER… AND PLEASE DON’T FORGET Gutierrez, Matt AT QB…. HE MIGHT MAKE THE TEAM!!!

I'm a Chiefs Fan but I am going to be objective here, sounds difficult but it can be done because I am critical of the team.
Damion McCintosh has been horrible, his rating needs to come down from 71 when compared to other o-lineman in the league.
At Wideout Ashley Lelie could use a bit of a boost into possibly the hi-60's. He has been arguably the Chiefs second best reciever next to Dwayne Bowe of course and has been better with every game.
Brodie Croyle's rating also could be higher. He has outplayed Thigpen and will most likely start the season at QB with Cassel hurt, he is definatley better than his current rating and could stand to be somewhere in the hi 60's as well. Thigpen's rating could be lowered.
Ndukwe needs to be added, he will most likely take McCintosh's spot and clearly outplayed him in the last pre-season game, his ratings could reflect this.
Barry Richardson has been in almost a dead heat for the right tackle spot with McCintosh, that being said he hasn't looked phenomenal.
Corey Mays has been one of the better players on D and rumours persist that Thomas may be cut clearing the way for Mays to start. He really flies to the ball and is an aware player.
Tamba Hali has looked good at Olb and is probably better then his rating.
Succop looks like a keeper, very strong leg.
Quentin Lawrence has never returned kicks in his football career and it is no sure thing that he will be the Chiefs returner. Lately Charles and Legget have taken over this role. Charles looks like he will be an important weapon in the Chiefs offence. Lawrence also looks like a good reciever and has made some nice plays.
I'm sure you guys keep up with transactions so I won't point out cuts pickups etc. Other then the above cases the roster is an accurate reflection of the Chiefs vis-a-vis the rest of the league in the game.
Thanks again I genuinely think this madden is the best on-field product to date.

Deletions: Boone, Toomer, psssibly Zach Thomas, possibly Q. Lawrence.
Additions: Lelie, Ndukwe, Alleman, possibly Jackie Battle (a real sledgehammer if used right), possibly Jake O'Connell. Although the game won't put all of our beloved Chiefs in the game, we take satisfaction that we can beat any team in Madden with smart play.

Come on, Flowers, Carr, Legget...all rookies last year, and were the chiefs 3 top corners, and they were all great. They deserve a bigger boost especially carr and flowers, the CB position was the best thing....besides THE Tony Gonzalez at TE of course...that the chiefs had, fix this. Page needs a little boost, hes the best ball hawk they have in the secondary.

Request for Upgrade of character overall ratings. As well as decrease.
1. Brandon Flowers.
Solid CB on weak defense tested in man and zone coverage. increase speed.
2. Tyson Jackson.
3rd pick in draft and worth it. has great pursuit and agility. needs increase overall. Late camp start but
shines on defense.
3. Corey Mays
Has great ball pursuit. plays like he belongs. speed and pwr lb with good awareness. up and coming should
be about 70 overall.
Decrease ratings for
1.Damion McIntosh.
He's going to get the QB killed. He is not committed to the team and getting better. Need to Upgrade
Ndwuke instead. solid season last year.
2. Zach Thomas
He might not make the team. He will be a "vocal " leader off the field. speed is gone and run pursuit.
3. Devard Darling
Injured again. Needs to be replaced with Copper. Pls increase Copper's spc catch. He's show signs of playmaker

Also I hope you make Ndukwe and Alleman decent. Given their exp and success. Just because there no names doesn't mean you have to kill their ratings. Thanks.

Here are my revised recommendations for Chiefs increases and decreases
Increase:
#1 Corey Mays - Current Madden Rating: 65 (Has been one of the Chiefs best defensive players this preseason. Has been the best blitzer on the team and shows that he has the speed, awareness, and pursuit.
Potential New Madden Rating: 70
#2 Tamba Hali - Current Madden Rating: 65 (Has adjusted just fine to his new left outside linebacker role. His current speed on madden is 67. He is a lot faster than that, and should deserve and increase in that department. Has been terrific this preason, very derserving on some type of upgrade next madden update.
Potential New Madden Rating: 70
#3 Tyson Jackson - Current Madden Rating: 77 ( Tied for team lead in sacks this preseason. Has shown he can been a great pass rusher. A slight upgrade for him.
Potential New Madden Rating: 79
#4 Brandon Flowers - Current Madden Rating: 77 (I don't think the Chiefs corner backs should be punish because the rest of the defense can't get to the quarterback but Flowers has shutdown potential, very good in man to man coverage and his awareness should be rated way better than 66, atleast a 10 point increase in that department, and his catching should be higher too, im tired of him dropping int's when he should catch them.
Potential New Madden Rating: 80
#5 Ryan Succop - Current Madden Rating: N/A (I think his rating is 55-60 or something, I think? but he has a strong leg, kicking into the end zone all the time on kickoffs and was one of the best kickers in the preseason converting on 7-9 field goals. Rating deserves a boost in leg power and accuracy.
Potential New Madden Rating 70-75
Other Chiefs players who could benefit to an upgrade are Brandon Albert, Brandon Carr, Tank Tyler ( Has Been A Beast In the Preseason) Dustin Colquitt (78? should be in the high 80's the man can punt) Demarrio Williams, & Jon McGraw

Also here are my decreases for the Chiefs
#1 Tyler Thigpen - Current Madden Rating: 66 (I really liked this guy last year and was supportive of him being the #1 quarterback this year for the Chiefs, but after watching him this preaseason. This man has been horrible 17 for 36, only completing 47 % of his passes, 3 int's with a awful 32.8 quarterback rating. What else can you say about that?
Potential New Madden Rating: 62
#2 Mike Vrabel - Current Madden Rating: 81 (Have heard nothing about him this preaseason, only had 5 tackles, has been invisible so far, needs to step it up, I thought he is suppose to be one of the key players on the chiefs defense this season. So far I havent seen nothing from him.
Potential New Madden Rating: 78
#3 Zach Thomas - Current Madden rating: 80 (He doesnt practice or anything. How long can you be hurt for? I hope this man gets released or retire, dont know why we even signed the guy. Im so glad Corey Mays have stepped up and taken this man's spot.
Potential New Madden Rating: 75
#4 Damain McIntosh - Current Madden Rating: 71 (I totally agree with MIZZOUSUAVEQUE who said he is going to get somebody killed, he doesnt have any type of awareness and his slow.
Potential New Madden Rating: 66
#5 Derrick Johnson - Current Madden Rating: 83 (He is in a contract year, and you think he would be doing good, but has been demoted to third string this preaseon, even though he'll still start, Andy Stdebaker has been pushing him to play better, if not, he is gonna be coming off the bench. He been a dissapointment so far, but he has so much potential.
Potential New Madden Rating: 80
other chiefs players that should see a decrease: Brodie Croyle, Brad Cottam, & Bobby Engram

Here are my adjusted ratings based on the criteria you asked for. I am a critical Chiefs fan who pays attention to detail. I won't mention transactions because those will most likely be set as of Sunday and the Chiefs final listed roster at KCchiefs.com will be an accurate soucre. I haven't given any exact changes to attributes because I like how the game plays and do not want to disrupt the rating system that is in place. However, I think the following changes would help the accuracy of the Chiefs:
Decrease:
1. Thigpen (new range 50-55)
He has been pretty much awful...
2. Waters (new range 88-89)
He is still good but has lost a step and isin't as dominant as he once was.
3. Rudy Niswainger (new range 66-69)
McIntosh was bad, thank goodness he was cut. Niswainger has been almost as bad as a center. McIntosh and Niswainger were the reason Cassell has been hurt, Brodie was hurt last year and the reason our QB's are under constant pressure.
4. Zach Thomas (new range 74-77)
Looks like he may be retiring and even if he dresses their is a solid chance Mays has already won the job with his stellar play in the pre-season and camp.
5. Brad Cottam (new range 58-62)
Has lost his job to Sean Ryan, nuff said.
Increase:
1. Ashley Lelie (new range 70-74)
He has been the second best WR in camp next to Bowe, he has caught some big passes and used his speed to make some big gains. He is also more aware then most of the KC wideouts.
2. Corey Mays (new rating 75)
He has been the Chiefs best defender next to Brandon Flowers in camp. Flies to the ball, is aware and just plain brings it.
3. Tamba Hali (new range 70-75)
Todd Haley said it best "He looks like a linebacker." He had a sack last game and has carried his above average game at DE over to outside LB in the 3-4. He is going to have a good year and is playing better than his rating.
4. Brandon Flowers (82-84)
Arguably the best Chief on D next to DJ. He has been nothing short of perfect in the preseason and his rating of 77 needs to be boosted slightly in order to make his contribution in real life translate to the game.
5. Ryan Succop (70-75)
Besides the three he has missed he has been great. He has made some long kicks and has a very, very powerful leg. Scott Pioli knows what he is doing with kickers.
Equipment Changes:
Corey Mays: Is using a Revo with standard two cage. He also wears white half sleeves on his forearms.
Branden Albert: Is wearing a 3 bar jagged with a clear visor.
Dwayne Bowe: Wears a two=bar not a two-bar single. He also has thin team colour bands around his elbows.
Mike Goff: Wears a Revo Speed, full cage with a smoke visor.
Brandon Flowers: Doesn't wear sleeves.
Sean Ryan: Wears a 3 bar RB double standard helmet.
Tamba Hali: Wears a 3 bar QB with a dark visor.
Turk Mcbride: Wears 3 bar RB with a clear visor. He also wears black half sleeves from the shoulder to the elbow.
Mike Vraebel: Has a thick black band around his elbow instead of a medium tc.
Ikechuku Ndukwe: Has a standard full cage with a smoke visor.
Glen Dorsey: Wears a 3 bar RB like Tyson Jackson. He also looks a bit on the thin side in the game.
Tyson Jackson: Doesn't wear half sleeves for the chiefs.
General: Quentin Lawrence has been decen at Wideout but he has not been good at returning kicks and apparently has never done it before. His KR rating can be lowered. With McIntosh cut Barry Richardson may be the starter, while he hasn't been great his rating could be boosted or else the Chiefs may be unrealistically bad. Ndukwe's rating when created may change this.
Thanks,
Wolve

Increases...
1. Ashley Lelie.
Good numbers for chiefs in preseason. Standout WR in the group. Pls give him his spd and awr rating increase.
2. IKECHUKU Ndukwe
Probably the new starting tackle. He and Richardson need a boost overall. decent preseason numbers and took veterans job Mcintosh. Ndukwe is a good run blocker
3. Brandon Carr
He has looked solid all year. good speed and his awareness is better than last years. has a lot of passes broken up. also he covers well so alot of balls aren't thrown his way.
Decreases....
1. Turk McBride.
He may not make the team. He cant cover and is a shaky tackler
2. Quinten Lawrence
Wont make the team. Hasn't showed signs he's ready to play.
3. Tavares Washington
He will be cut. Has shown no signs of improvement.
Also please add Jackie Battle. D. Savage and Colin Brown(increase ovrl) Matt Gutierrez , Ricardo Colclough

People have already made great suggestions on the Chiefs post. I would like to add to them:
Surprise ratings increase: Tank Tyler. He finished third in tackles on KC this preseason (14 solo, 16 total) behind two players that also rack up tackles as special-teamers (Jevon Belcher, Demarrio Williams)
Also, please increase Jamaal Charles' speed. The man won the 100m Big12 Conference Championship in college with a 10.23 and can smoke most players in full pads during a game.
Corey Mays has been outstanding, and during limited action in only 2 preseason games DaJuan Morgan accumulated 14 tackles and an interception. They both need to be increased. And why is it that Maurice Leggett never gets the credit (speed+, awareness+ in Madden) that he deserves for his big plays? He also posted 14 tackles this preseason as primarily a nickel-back.
