I find it strange that we all have been posting on this EA site and I see no solution or feedback from EA/Crytek.

So disapointed. I read every single error file from all of you but don't see any responds that helps from them.

I will call them today and see what they say [if they pick up].

Spend yesterday over 6 hours installing, reading, updating etc. Still this darn Cabinet file error!

If anyone got around the Cabinet error from DVD [not download] in Vista 64, please post it.

Thanks

This curroption error could be because of bad RAM. One of my ram sticks were bad and it was causing my demo download to become curropt

I've been spending the last two days trying to install the downloaded version of this cursed game. I kept getting the corrupted sounds.cab error. I re-downloaded and tried again... nothing. I then tried to install the game on 4 different pcs... two XP machines, and two vista machines, 32bit and 64bit. Same error on all machines.

I then broke down and purchased the DVD version and everything installed correctly. I then started the game and now it always locks up after about two seconds of game play.

So I got past one problem, only to slam into another problem.

This whole thing is too crazy. Is this game working flawlessly for anyone ?

Later,
MG

already done everything there a long time ago except the "Install SafeDisc Update" and I doubt it will work anyway... All this is just wasting time...

I'll try it anyway and if it does or doesn't work I'll tell you guys.

well since nothing works and i think windows installer 4 is the problem, maybe we could try using windows installer 3? i'm treading unfamiliar ground here but theres a setup file in the DVD (probably has in the downloaded version as well) that tells which versions of windows to run MSI/windows installer 3.

maybe if we did something to that folder we could get it to use msi3?

Hey everyone,

I am getting the exact same problem as everyone else here. Stupid corrupt cab on objects~1. I have gone through everything shown here and I have reformatted vista and tried it on another computer(xp). I was using the disk so I decided to give up and i returned it and bought the online download, now I get the error at sounds~1.cab. This just pisses me off, I can't believe how poor of a job EA is doing to fix the problem for us. If anyone can help, please do.

I just bought the DVD and I am getting cab file error during the copy file step in the installation. Initially this always happened on 'AllOth~.cab', but I went through all of the remediation steps outlined and linked to here:

1. Cleared user and system temp folders
2. No visible damage to the disk, it looks fine.
3. DVD/RW Plextor 740A USB has latest firmware (1.02)
4. Installed SafeDisc update
5. Free space is fine, > 200GB, healthy RAID0 array (no errors)
6. No viruses
7. No drive emulation
8. No Spyware
9. Rebooted
10. Shut down all unnecessary user processes and services (including AntiVirus sofware)

Upon installing now the cab that fails is 'LevelsMP.cab' at about 3/4th the way through the file copy step.

Platform: Windows XP Sp2, all critical updates.

I do not know what more I can do aside from reinstalling windows on faith that this will fix something

Is anyone surprised that EA found a way to screw up yet another release?

Other (irrelevant) information:
E6850 Intel CPU, 8800GTX, i680 chipset 2GB memory.

PLEASE HELP.
Thank you

OK... SAME PROBLEM, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET IT WORKING!

I had my copy and my friends copy both do the exact same thing... stop on 1335 or whatever code.Cant read the friggin SOUNDS~1.cab file. Tried it 10 times on each same result. Both DVD's copies I had did the same. Both from Gamestop one was a special edition, and one was the normal version.
His copy installed fine on Vista 64 but made loud clicking noises when starting the game and also very slow reading whenever putting the DVD in.
Im on XP 32 and decided to try a DVD drive other than my LITE-ON which is also the brand my Vista64 friend has with the clicking noises.
I have an old LG DVD drive and wired it in and the game installed perfectly. Took about 10 minutes but it completed and all is well.
So if you have another DVD drive other than the one you're having problems with, this may help you install the game. Like it did me.
Good Luck! hope this helps somebody!
***please note: I only bought this game because sof3 (aka Payback) is a flop.
Im a soldier of fortune junkie.

"however, the .Cabinet file errors [Error 1335] occur ONLY in Vista."

Not true, if this forum had a working search function you guys would have found my thread,
http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?threadID=306705&start=0&tstart=0

I am running XP 64 pro. This is not related to what OS we are running!
After 16 hrs of downloading I have 46:00 remaining and if this one is ****ed up then I will more than likely take to the streets with an assault rifle (JK). or play some COD4 and be happy that all publishers are not such complete idiots!

Good luck all...FTW
