I was really excited to finally have a semi-realistic racing game WITH decent damage modelling, and now I see that the PS3 version is gimped... I would sure like to hear if this is bug related (ie. patch coming?) or if this is how it is going to be. I really like the game but this is not cool.
Exactly what I was wondering. I got this game for PS3 so I could use my DFGT. Besides some bugs this is a great game that I can put a lot of time into before GT5 comes out. But why did they charge me full price for a gimped PS3 version? First and last multiplatform game I ever buy on PS3. The sad thing is that it's so blatantly obvious that the PS3 versions damage is inferior.
Wow, I just read that article about EA semi-attacking GT5s 'rollcage protected' damage modelling... this PS3 damage problem has got to be a glitch... there's no way they could call out a competitors damage modelling and then intentionally release an inferior version on the very same system... I mean if the game were exclusive to Xbox that would be one thing, but this is an embarassment to release a game on PS3 with essentially NO damage modelling after suggesting that the bread-and-butter PS3 racing game has 'cheating' damage modelling...

Please news soon for the patch....
Thank's
check configurations of ur game or something ! because ..... ps3 have damage
the ps3 have damage
but ps3 does not have damage deformation
The differences in damage are blatantly obvious to us in the know. But to the average Joe Shmo they can't see the difference and don't care they see the need for speed brand name and buy it for what ever console they have. This is how EA gets around making an inferior product on the PS3.
Pause around the 40sec and 52 sec mark to see difference.
souldnt EA.. have to make a claim that..even cross platform that the game does have different features!!...wouldnt it illegal not to announce that becuase we are all buying same version that there will significant differences between that different versions, im not try to put the game down as it is one of the best n4s games in years... but why should i/anyone spent the same amount of cash for sumthing that has less features... plus the only reason i wanted ps3/pc version was because the g25...why would u play anyother way.. but EA.. SHAME ON YOU!!, I THINK WE THE CUSTOMERS DESERVE TO KNOW THINGS LIKE THAT BEFORE HAND..

I bought this game on PS3 to use my DFGT but I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew the PS3 version was inferior. I like the game a lot and it's the first NFS I've bought since Hot Pursuit. I just don't like that I got the worst version and wasn't told.
I'm not so quick to jump to the conclusion that this was done intentionally... quite frankly I didn't even notice it for quite awhile playing until I remembered that old GTR video with the deformed bumper. I would be very surprised if EA intentionally put it's own foot in it's mouth regarding the whole NFS:S vs GT5 damage debate. Why would EA attack GT5 knowing they were removing body damage the PS3 NFS:S? It doesn't make sense to me, and it only stirs up bad publicity.
That being said, I still expect some sort of acknowledgement of the issue, and eventually a fix. It wouldn't surprise me if it was as simple as an option toggle of some sort being left off in the game code... the textures seem to change properly and we get cracked glass and hood loss so the game is registering damge, it's just the body panel models that aren't changing on impact - assuming the assets are on-disc, this shouldn't likely be a big fix. If it is, I would appreciate the option to return the game to EA for a refund since this is not the product that was advertised leading up to the release. Is this going to happen? Probably not, but it would be what a good business would do.

It makes sense. But how could EA possibly let the game ship with this obvious flaw without a day one patch?
