Can you believe that??? Some of the most frequent words in the English language, and you can't say "but the" on this site! You must say "yet the" instead!

Incidentally, what's wrong with the word "butt", even if I wanted to say it? I think any person who believes a word like butt needs to be filtered out, should get some specialist treatment. Don't go overboard with this, please.

Some people think that as this is an open site that young children might be on we need to restrict what is said here. I think they will get a lot worse language just by being out in public, however, it is policy so I guess we must abide.

I'm not against the idea itself, but they must take care not to go overboard with this.

The above sentence would have been censored in the game & in the group's chatbox. Why? Because it contains "but they", which is censored because of "butt".

I think neither "but the", nor "but they", nor even "butt" should be censored. That's just insane. No kid will die because of seeing the word "butt". The f-word is something different.

OT PS: Forum email notifications do not work. I wasn't notified of your forum reply despite having selected the option.

I asked about the forum email reply and never heard anything or lost the thread because I didn't get the auto-reply.

Any idea why this forum doesn't auto reply and other EA ones do?

I still think the funniest one is Saint Andrews (the abbreviation, of course). I mean we have the actual course and it's filtered out in the forum and the in-game chat.

Yeah, I'm lost in these forums as well. No email notifications, no My Posts and Recent Posts links... These are the bare essentials in a forum. However, an EA staff member replied to my query here: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/341651.page Perhaps the test will help EA fix this.

Back on-topic: I'd say the top infuriating thing is that sequence of but plus any following word beginning with t. This is so ludicrous it makes me want to smash my monitor into pieces. but the, but this, but that, but then, all of these are filtered & censored, and for what? For the innocent word butt? Give me a break! That word has so many meanings, and none of them is offensive. Even if butt were meant to denote *, what's wrong with that? Then there are also cigarette butts, and don't butt in here, etc. etc.

The filter in its current form is going berserk all the time & needs to be seriously re-worked.

the word "put" followed by an "a". apparently the filter recognizes naughty spanish words too.

Don't blame anyone else but EA...a better game and I'd be spending more time playing than posting here.

btw thanks for reminding me the profanity filter is one of those negatives that totally slipped my mind in my impressions posting.

I completely agree. Put an Adult Filter in.
If it was free, we couldn't really complain. But if we are to be paying money to play, then I believe we have a significant
say in this matter.

Every other online game has the option to have filtered or unfiltered chat.

If typing in chat becomes too much of a hassle trying to figure out what word combinations work and don't work it'll make the game less enjoyable.

The word Analog is filtered, really annoying when you want to talk about the controls.

the filter doesn't work because you can get your point across by finding new ways around the words..i don't care for the profanity here but i wouldn't see it if only my group was in the chat. the guys i play with were taught to be respectful when there is a woman around, but the way this is set up you are never free to talk because all can see it.
