This is a great post. I would also like to see some emotion from my BAP player when he gets his NHL goal. thats really exciting for any player and even the commentators can talk about it and mention that it was his first pro goal. With that is when my player scores a hat-trick it amazing to see all those hats finally but again more emotion from my player and the team. if this was my first professional hat-trick, it could be mentioned by the commentators.

I would also like to see that the real Nhl or Ahl records are in the game. Say my guy ends up scoring 76 goals in one season. i would get recognized for that and my name would go done as the player that scored 76 goals in a single season. This could go for penalty minutes, assists, hits, and so on.

They commentators are really * me off in the game. They suck and say the same thing over and over again. This should be fixed. cause it dumb when the puck goes off the iron and the commentator says "bing, bang, boom. it rang off the post" that just sounds ridiculously stupid.

The ticker would be a very neat thing to have. not shown during a game but to have on the central page. In BAP this could be applied, cause i don't want to know whos hurt in the league and whos traded. i'd rather see other things. then that.

In the Be A Pro mode there should be more things to it. there should be preseason games to determine if you're gonna be in the NHL or sent down. More customization to our players like overall look of our player so he looks different from anybody else. I way customize their faces more would be cool like their nose, mouth, eyes, hair and what not. It would be cool to also have the missing teeth thing too. haha

I would like to see that when my player signs a contract and the money he gets for that should be implemented in the game like hockey equipment that i can buy or something else. also with this money i could also buy atributes.

I would like to see that when i drop the gloves no one gets taken off the ice and my fights that happen at center ice don't take me to the far corner. i should be able to fight at center ice. In BAP there a thing that i get for fights they are good or there bad. I think this is dumb. Some fights do help your team with some momentum but when i do fight my team play thing drops. Some fights in hockey just happen for a reason. some guys just don't like each other or it happens from a big hit. cause i've been hit in the game and drop the gloves and still got a bad fight for it. that should be fixed or put in teh game better.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I wanted to add a section on arenas, so here we go:

Now, let me preface this by saying that I'm not totally aware of what state the arenas are in, at the current point. I know they do differ somewhat and that the developers have given them structure that is somewhat true to their real life counter parts (mellon arena, honda center, etc).

With that being said, I think it's a bad thing that I didn't really "notice" the arenas. I'm not really even aware of what's going on there. So let's go over a few ideas to make them more a part of the game, more a part of the experience.

Obviously banners are a big part of the "arena experience" now again, I'm not totally sure if EA has included these or not, however...if they are included, they should be displayed more, either in pre-game, announcer awareness, or cut scenes.

You can see from the second pic that the netting (above the glass) makes up a big part of the backdrop behind the goal.

The banners become a bigger part of the picture especially when you're playing places like NY. Detroit, or Boston. With so much accomplished and so many championships in some of those buildings, the rafters are filled with banners and are often showcased in a broadcast. This is less of an issue in say, Nashville, or Atlanta, where teams haven't been around long enough to really collect any rafter goodies.

I'm sure everyone has seen this, but 2k's game this year does an EXCELLENT job with this.

Everything is incorporated here. Lights, banners, arena design, jumbo tron, the works.

I suppose suggestions for this could go on forever. But in truth, it's pretty simple. Aside from the intro (which can involve flashing lights, and pyrotechnics), the arena is rather easy to bring into the game if it would just be included. And as always, the more accurate the better. Maybe getting stadiums to feel more unique and accurate could also include design that followed a seating chat, like this one:

It seems picky, but going by the actual arena's seating would help to make the arenas feel different without players even realizing it. You'd know you were in a different arena because it wouldn't be your home turf. Seating is a huge part of what gives that illusion.

This an excellent thread! Hopefully EA will see it.
How about an injury reserve in BAGM and season?

Injury Reserve? Isn't that what basically happens when your players have an injury they can't play with. All it is, is that your guy cannot play and his salary comes off. It's automatic in the game. You mean you want to be able to assign players to the IR?

Say you have a player with a minor injury. Thair stats may be affected and you can call someone up.

I agree that this is a great post.

Having been an EA Hockey player since 1997's edition, I've a laundry list of things I've wanted to see in an NHL game that made it feel more like a real hockey experience and presentation has always been a huge component. So good on ya, OP, for putting this together. I would like to expand on one idea already presented here: highlights from OTHER games played the same day you play your game. I play BAP and I follow the schedule as much as real life allows. If the game is scheduled for Saturday, December 12th, then that's when I play. At the end of the game day I would love to be able to look at scores and stats from other games, and would LOVE to be able to see highlights like goals, big saves, fights, whatever from those games. My god that would be amazing. To be able to feel a part of not just one team but of the whole league would take this game from great to legendary.

So thanks for posting this and please STICKY this bad boy.

I would definitely like to see a huge increase in presentation.

I'm sure most of us remember NHL 94' where in between periods it had a score ticker and it would sometimes show highlights of goals for OT winners, an important goal, great saves, it would even sometimes show us the clock ticking down in a tied game to head to OT... and no one would score. So you'd have to wait till the next period to find out the result (usually in another video.)

I would definitely love to see this make its way back into the NHL series, with a broadcast camera and commentary. Done well of course.

Also the commentary needs a huge upgrade. Give us real play by play. They need to take into account later years in GM mode, where some guys just aren't on the team anymore.

Stop making it seem like this stuff matters, EA has enough to worry about with the gameplay, not worthless details like this stuff.

Man, I couldn't disagree more. I find the gameplay to be pretty well dialed, the best in years. But I feel it's incomplete until we have a multi-dimensional hockey experience and that INCLUDES presentation. Respectfully.

EA has kind of shoved presentation and rink authenticity under the carpet to put euro leagues into the game when the fact remains most of the NHL arenas are identical and look nothing like their real life counter part. Hands down NHL2k10's presentation and rinks trample NHL10s, one of the few shining lights for that series.

Game play will always be worked on. I think EA's spending too much time including goofy, needless game play things such as the 'fake kick' deke that's rather useless. Hell, I'll even say this much, when you play at Montreal in NHL2k10 the PA announcer speaks french. It's that detailed. Granted EA's product does do quite a number of things better, but still I digress.

Any true die hard hockey fan would want their product to be highly authentic, arenas and game play wise. As far as cut scenes go, the way to go is to remove them and have it all animated real time gameplay stuff instead of canned cutscenes.

Presentation and atmosphere has been greatly lacking in NHL EA Sports hockey for quite some time. Actully the Presentation has been better in the Sega Genesis days of EA hockey.

I think EA should look at MLB The Show (made by Sony) and other franchises to get ideas on what is needed as far as Presentation and Atmosphere goes.

To add to your great list I have four things:

1) For Presentation and Atmosphere have a TSN Sports Center type atmosphere where you have highlights from around the league, top 3 players for the week/month, player interviews, whot's hot and who's not, pre-game warmups where you shoot on your own goalies, national anthems, team specific entrances like in real life, much more cut scenes etc... (you get the idea)
2) A much needed all star weekend as been asked for the last few years. Have the young guns game, skills competition. Otherwise the current state of the all star game I believe most people skip over during the season.
3) Have the ability the bring your BAP or BAGM from NHL 10 into NHL 11, then from NHL 11 to NHL 12 etc... I don't like simualting games and I don't have the time to play all the games either. Starting over each time a new release comes out is kind of frusturating. Having this feature would be great because even though it might take me a while I could at least finish my BAP or BAGM using the current NHL EA game each year!!!!!
4) Player and team milestones so you can break Martin Brodeaur, Wayne Gretzky, Montreal Canadiens records etc...

I have asked as well as others already, Please Sticky this thread as it covers a lot of what should be in NHL11.

NHL11 should focus a lot on Presentation and Atmosphere, along with fixing gameplay issues and glitches!
