I have experienced 2 more recent problems with the game. The first occured when I went to retry a drift event in the screen that follows after you complete an event, and it gives you the option to continue, retry, view profile, etc. Everything was going like it normally should, the preview pan camera was showing off my car, and just as it went to go into the race camera view, the screen goes black for a second, and then shows up again with the camera angle of the car as it would be at the end of the event. The game then went on to show that I had acquired no points in that round, and went to round 2, where everything was back to normal, and I completed the event (still winning 1st place). Has anyone else experienced this glitch?

The other problem I encountered happened when I when to change the paint job on my car. It showed the car sitting there, with the paint option on "all," but when I went to change what part I was going to paint, the camera angle did not move, and the option changed to "body." I was not able to do anything else in that screen. I went back to the "Paint, Rims, Vinys" and looked at the vinyls. This time, the option started on "Top Body," and once again I tried to select a different part, but it only changed the word at the top of the Toolbar to "Left Side" and the camera angle did not change. I then decided to just move on and race, and the problem occured to where it would have went to the race view, but the screen stayed black and I could only rev the engine. I was forced to restart the game, and then everything was fine. I DO NOT mean that I deleted the game, I only quit the game and went to play it again. Once again, this seemed to have solved the issue for now. Seriously, how did EA give the green light on a game with this many problems?

Has anyone else experienced these glitches?

Hopefully someone at EA will read this and may gain some information... I've been bitten by this bug twice, where I try to play (continue my career) the game and it appears to load my file, but I can't get to my career... it looks like I have to "start career" and even then I can't even buy a car....

The first time this happened I was on level 50.. I noticed that the last few races I was racing, that just before the race begins when you have your crew and a couple of chicks around the car, that the car wasn't there. I raced ok, but thought it was weird that my car wasn't visible just before the race starts. when I quit the game and came back a few hours later, the data looked like it loaded but I couldn't access my career.

So... I tried everything to get it back (except buy a car at the playstation store). I ended up removing everything... the program and my saved data. I reloaded and started making my new career....

Today while I was clawing my way back up to level 10.... I was doing a time trial, only the clock wasn't counting down... after about 50 laps, I tried to end the race, but I can't figure out how to end the race without ditching the current game... so I disqualified myself. The game locked up and when I restarted NFS, I was only given the "start career" option... again.

The funny thing is when NSF loaded my saved file... the date and time were incorrect. The file was saved at a future time than it was currently. ODD.

the game saved with the time in the future? weird. i wonder if just resetting the time ahead to what the game says it is would make the game play okay. if i have this problem again, i will most certainly try doing so, just for kicks if nothing else.

I'm only mildly concerned about the file save time being in the future... The main point of my post was that BOTH times that the game did not let me continue my saved progress were preceded by strange occurrences (bugs) just before a save. I feel that the game somehow is saving the file incorrectly due to these bugs. (instead of the Playstation corrupting the file)

Glad you are confirming this in a way.

This is something I pointed out in my post, something in me feels that somewhere in the game code something is going astray and overwriting or corrupting something, which is then saved in the gamesave. Hence some of the data seems to be there, but the 'flags' to say you are in a current career are not, seemingly.

You also point out the other issue, as you did re-start and have hit the same problem again. Something I and a lot of other users would like to make sure will not happen if we start again, that we get into this corrupt/restart loop indefinitely.

I wish someone at EA would give a response to this, I have seen other posts replied to them in the time this post has been on here, so can only conclude they are ignoring it, which is REALLY BAD PUBLIC RELATIONS in my view.

i realized what you were saying in your message, i was just saying that i did not realize the time difference when this problem happened to me. it happened the same way for me too, i was in a time attack, and the timer was not moving, it started at zero and stayed there. i quit the race and exited the game, thinking i would come back later and play some more. instead, i came back to fing my profile had an error, the start career menu, instead of continuing. i have experiencd more problems since then, but nothing bad enough to make me restart the game (knock on wood). what i do is quit/finish the race if possible, save my game, and then quit the game and restart it to continue where i left off, and it seems to be working. i have no idea if im preventing anything by doing this, but im not taking any chances.

It's probably just a chance of luck, but I seem to be having more luck with having the autosave turned off, giving the game less chances to save and therefore decreasing the chance of a corrupt save. However there is a downside, after you do a long race or a hard race and it loads to the main screen or whatever, it can freeze, and then all your prgress is lost up to your last save. Hopefully, if I get the profile bug again, the buy a car using the PS Store money option will work fairly good. How much does it cost to buy a car like this?

Could it be possible that we are contacting the wrong people? At the bottom of this forum page, there is a blue button in the bottom right corner of the screen that says "More Info." When you click on the button, you are brought to a page with more information about NFS Shift. About 2/3 of the way down the page, there is a paragraph that says:

"Need for Speed SHIFT is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios in collaboration with Black Box and senior vice president Patrick Soderlund at EA Games Europe. Slightly Mad Studios includes developers and designers that worked on the critically acclaimed games GT Legends and GTR 2."

I wonder whether or not we have to contact Slightly Mad Studios or Black Box, instead of just trying to complain to EA.

Very possibly you are right, it seems EA themselves are not doing anything.

Still have not had a reply to this thread from them, beyond 'delete your save'.

Hey guys,

I don't have any additional information regarding this issue right now, but I am looking into it for you. I'll post here as soon as I have more information.

Thanks for your patience,

Thank you for your comment Big Guy.

Please push for a solution to this, lots of people seem to be experiencing it and are reluctant to start again knowing it could happen again at any point.

I wanted to add my experience in the post here as well - I've experienced the same issue.

A commonality I've noticed in these posts (as well as others on different sites) seems to be the Tier 4 Lamborghini. I had just purchased that car and while racing with it noticed a few bugs in the game. I can't remember the specifics, but I know I had to quit the game and start over. The game started fine the second try and then I didn't play again for a week or two. When I started it up last night the Lamborghini I had purchased and modified was on the screen, but the only option was "Start Career".

Quitting and starting over didn't have any effect. Taking a cue from others I went through the "Start Career" race, experienced the same "no garage slots available" issue (and I had at least 3 available before this error) and purchased a car using cash at the Playstation Store. That let me into the car garage (oddly, the car I had purchased was nowhere to be found) but I did have 3 of the 7 or 8 cars I had available to me, as well as my career, cash, level, trophies, etc. Everything was there. After a few races, tiers started opening up again (all but tier 1 had been locked, even though it still showed stars I had earned in tier 2, 3 and 4 races). It was like the game was slowly figuring out the history of what had been accomplished.

Now, the only thing that has not returned is available garage slots. Interestingly the only 3 cars left are ones I had done a works conversion on. Everything else is gone - and all other slots are locked even though I'm at level 29.

I have a feeling this bug is related to the Tier 4 Lamborghini. This game has been great up until I started racing with that car.

Hey everyone, I had the same story but I started my own thread. Rather than keep that one going I'll jump on this one. My story is almost the same as everyone else except mine seemed to show up much later. I had everything won, driver level 50 with 850,000+ driver points. I haven't tried the buying a car from the store trick, I lost interest after this happened. I'm with most of you, if there isn't a fix I'm done with the game. I'll wait until GT5 comes out in March, oh wait, December, well maybe Spring '11. . .

Any answers yet?

Here is my story if anyone is interested but its pretty much exactly like the others:

Alright, i've been finished playing the career portion of NFS Shift for a while now. I've won every race and i'm only missing a few stars here and there. (ones for 4 second drifts, spinning opponents, and record times that I can't get with slow-motion frame rates) I've got $24+ Million in the bank and driver level 50 of course. I only play quick races now for kicks. I was playing a couple times this weekend while house sitting. I would turn it on, run a couple races and turn it off like normal. I never had anything weird happen. IE freezing, troubles loading, or turning off the system while loading or saving.

I flipped on the PS3 yesterday and everything loaded up normally until I got to the main menu screen. There it only showed two options. START CAREER, or OPTIONS. Here's where the strange part is. The car pictured on the main menu is THE car I just bought and modified the night before. EXACTLY! A M3 E36 completely modified but not works converted, painted matte white, with gold BBS wheels.

I tried reloading my game, restarting the system, removing the game, etc. Same result. Alright, so just to see what is going on I turned OFF autosave so I wouldn't save over anything and started a new career. I ran the test lap in the M3 and won the first race with the M3. It took me to the garage where you buy your first car with your winnings. How much do I have to spend? $24+ MILLION!!! The same amount of money I had. Obviously only certain cars are unlocked; but when I try to purchase one it says I can't because my garage is full. Which it is because the E36 that was mentioned before took up my last open spot.

Also, if I scroll through the cars after the first race, they are completely stock, unless I own them and they are modified, then they show up as modified exactly like I have them.

So basically the only thing NFS shift is loading is my money, my full garage and a picture of my M3 at the main menu. What the hell is going on?!?!?!?!? I'm not going to do the career completely over.

Anyone have any ideas?
