I played horribly, for me, at the single try, but then again I don't often play on Thursday because it's pub night and trying to figure out which hole to aim for is a bit tricky. Started the round off with a resounding par knocking my approach past the hole 11 feet and missing my mark on the putt so it went long and missed high. Had a miscalculation on one of the par 4-s with a back pin and the green sloping down toward the back, hit it 3 yards long and it didn't grab and roll back but bounced just off, and then I lipped out the chip back up the hill. Rolled in eagles on the front side par-5s and pitched in for eagle on #10, the short par-4 with the heart-shaped green and came to #12 sitting at -12. Left #12 at -11 after hitting my approach a tad long and having a 6 yard chip back up to the pin. Went agressive and missed the chip by 10 feet, missed that putt and hung my head in shame walking off with a bogey. Got to 15 and had a great lie in the fairway and what I thought was a great distance to reach close but somehow my 6-iron fell 12 yards short and landed in the front-left bunker. Pitched to 8 feet (rotten pitch!) and then lipped that birdie putt. Got lucky making a chip from off the green on 16 and then stiffed 17 and 18 to finish at -16.
Realistically I feel I should have put up a -19, making the relatively easy putts on 1 and 15, and playing for par on #12 instead of going RAMBO on it.

I could cry.....scream.....throw a fit.....maybe all of the above. I probably need to apologize (alot) to my wife for some of the "choice" words that might have slipped from my mouth at noon.....let me explain.
I gave the extreme a go at noon. PS3 leader at -12 and everyone else at -7 or worse. I absolutely destroyed the front.....destroyed it......I had 1 putt from 30+ feet that I left 3" short hanging off the edge.....I didn't miss anything else......I had 7 birdies and an eagle to turn the corner at -9 only 3 back.
The train kept rolling on the back and I went birdie, birdie, par, eagle, birdie to start the back....now at -14 and 2 out in front with 4 to play. Parred the 15th....no biggie. Came to the 16th....why, oh why didn't I read more into Pish's post above.....WHY!!!!!!....... . 2 balls into the lateral that were only a few feet from the edge of the fairway and a lipped out putt from 3' and I carded a quad....I was in shock. Finished the last 2 holes in a daze....parred 17 and then bogeyed 18 which is a lovely 60mph par 3 btw....to play even on the back and card a -9.
How did that happen????? I should have teed off with my putter.......
Sorry for the rant.....I just can't believe it.....

Strange day for me Tee off at Bethpage (Single -Try Daily Tour) I just couldn't seem to get anything going there missing fairways & then missing a lot of middle range putts which lead to a -11 (11 Birdies).
Then I tee it up at the Extreme Tournament & the complete opposite happens, manage to make 3 eagles with 6 birdies to shot -12 & tie for the lead currently.
How does a man shot lower in a Extreme Tournament than a regular event
Thanks EA for giving us the Single-Try Daily Tour, hopefully it becomes a everyday event.

Nice front though...
Thanks bro. I'm not too bright though....maybe next time post it in multi colors, flashing if possible and a big flag that reads "Scotia take note!!". Nah....I'd probably still miss it....
I had visions of myself running up to the awards table, stealing the trophy and sprinting from the course clutching the trophy yelling hysterically....."IT'S MINE....I EARNED IT....YOU CAN'T HAVE IT....NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" Hair all frizzed out, shirt untucked, one show missing, officials frantically chasing me down the driveway.....am I the only one who has these daydreams???? Anyone?????

Answer..PUTTING. It all comes down to that. When I'm reading putts correctly I can play with anyone..if not, that stock -20 could be a -11 very easily. My round today I hit some tough putts in the front 9,,then in the back missed two easy ones..I feel I should have shot-19 but I guess it evens itself out.
I played P2P today against a guy at Oakmont..slow greens...put every thing with 3 yds and ended -14 because of putting..
P.S--Scotia, I believe it was Buddha that asked you the question..I believe your answer was the same as what DLW says..

Sorry to hear about your late demise Scotia. 16 sounds like it's a stroke sucker. What course/hole is it from? From the reports of the close lateral, it might be one of the Harbor Town holes. Obviously everyone needs to aim it further left to avoid the extra strokes.
And a 60MPH wind on the last! I hate those kind of winds. Punch shot aimed way off with lots of fade/draw, and pray it gets close enough to pitch it close.

No biggie....I'm ok now. I'm not sure which hole it was from as it is playing from the whites and they all look different. The distance was short enough that I had to lay off of a driver but I probably would have been better off taking a mid iron over the middle trees and left myself a chance at a pitch or flop....I was just playing so well that I didn't want to wuss out and throw off my groove.....got bit was all...it happens.
I think I hit 1 iron on the last and it was the right distance but ended up right of the green....I didn't play enough side movement. Pitched back to about 20'....again the wind moved my pitch more than I thought.... . Missed my par putt.

Sounds like an interesting set... I hope I have enough time to play this extreme, but first and foremost is the single-try at Bethpage.

Today's Extreme Tournament has a lot of par 4's that you can drive , but you need to be careful because there is a lot of danger as Scotia can attest to. I play very conservative today & shot -12 with no bogeys, but I believe if somebody plays very aggressive & gets lucky they could shot -18 today, SwAeromotion just posted a -15 to lead the PS3 side.

That's a great story Scotia, even though I'm sure it was maddening to have happen. Imagine that happening in real life where it happens to golfers with huge amounts of money on the line. I recall Monty missing a putt once on Sunday at 18 and the announcing informing us that missed 3 footer cost him over $250,000 in prize money. How painful that must be!
I've had those Extremes go both ways...on one hand being way ahead of pace and then tanking it, but also thinking I'm out of it and finishing up with 2 or 3 great holes. I love the ebb and flow of extremes and never knowning what may happen next.

This extreme is SuperD's white tee custom from many months ago. It's been up there 4 times or so.
Sorry about the meltdown on #16 today, Scotia.
That hole is Harbour Town #12. The whole hole needs to be redone. The entire right side if not in the fairway is a lateral hazard, and that pin position (was there yesterday in single-try TP) is just absurd. Somehow the ball always seems to be an a ridge when you're close. Aim a fraction left and you will miss left, aim a fraction right and you'll miss right. You can't aim straight at it, either as it will go one way or the other and no telling which way. You try to jam it in with a lot of pace and you'll lip out and leave yourself a lot of distance left. Plus, just off the green long and its almost a 'step' from the fairway 2 feet off the green onto it.. nothing gradual about it, its just like a step on your porch.
I read your horror story about that hole and to be honest.. I did the same thing one of the earlier times this same Extreme came around IIRC. I sat on the tee for a while today (-15 thru 15) thinking if it was worth it to try a super fade shot going around the trees low (punch or topped forward driver). But in the end I heeded the reminder in my head that if I clipped anything over on the right I was going to get a lateral hazard. So I just played it like most par 4s. Hit my tee shot for a comfortable distance 2nd shot. Then got it to 8 feet and the upside down bowl green got me. 2-putt par.
