same as most here - asked to update, hit yes, was shown shift 2 trailer, menus reexplained, everything erased, level 1 cop/racer. was level 17 cop and level 15 racer... all cops done with distinction too.. achievs prove it..

tried updating and i finished updating, then it asked me if i wanted to download a car pack and i selected yes. When i entered the game menu all my stats were reset and saved files were gone.

I didn't lose my levels at all, but can't play online with my friends. I keeping getting an "Incompatible Version" message.

Guys you do realize that you will never get your save games back right? they are only saying "fix" for the people who haven't gotten reset yet so it won't happen to them, nothing can be done about our saved games because they are saved on the console and not on their servers

Same here, clicked yes to install update... got shift demo etc... reset me from rank 20 on racer and rank 20 on cop to rank 1 for both, all cars now locked and no access to races/events etc....

Also assuming that it's written over the save file and thus not recoverable...

Pretty furious about it, hope that EA can offer me my ranks back or my money back

This may help, When I was promted for the update I actually declined it at first and then the game loaded as if it had never been started with save wiped. I thougth I may have to update to continue playing so I reset the xbox and downloaded.
