I keep trying to install the 1.5 patch to my game and it keeps giving me the an error saying "You already have a newer version installed." That's great and all... but my version is currently 1.0.2442.0
I DID install 1.5 earlier yesterday after installing BF2 and then installing BF2: Special Forces, but I kept getting a texture error that would automatically kick me out of the game, so I uninstalled BF2 and Special forces, and reinstalled. Now the game thinks the patch is already applied? WTF? I thought when you uninstall a game, it uninstalls the patches ALONG with the game, apparently not in this games case...

i fixed the problem by creating a new file in regedit called Version and made its value 1.4, now I have a new problem. Every time I try to start the game up in windowed mode I get this error:

** NOTE: Even if I try to start up the game in regular full screen, the game just crashes back to desktop immediately after the screen goes black to load up the game, this is fail.

Seriously, this is ridiculous. All I want to do is play BF2 1.5. Why do I have to jump through flaming hoops? WHY?

I had the same problem.. I had to install 1.41 first, then 1.50

I had to installed BF2 from scratch. I installed BF2, BF2: SF, patch 1.41, and patch 1.50. This is what I got:

You have the "render" bug. I think some people (including myself) have been fixed by installing the patch described here: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/299105.page#2879724

Cougar - did this happen when you tried to start the game or when trying to apply the 1.5 patch?

If at run time - I'd totally rip out BF2 completely (removing every mention of EA BF2 install you can find) and the start from scratch again. If you are not doing a vanilla installation ( and in some cases when you are) their installer is a POS and can't handle anything that isn't vanilla.

When i tried to install patch 1.5, i didn't do anything.

Install order for BF2 + BF2SF

install BF2
install v1.41 patch [ BF2 must be at least v1.2 before BF2SF can be installed ]
install BF2SF
install v1.41 patch again
finally install v1.5 patch

The version numbers are as listed below:

Version 1.01 update installed.

Version 1.02 update installed.

You must have v1.41 installed or v1.5 will not work properly.

NOT v1.4 but v1.41.
v1.5 although large is only an incremental and requires v1.41 be installed first. It must be v1.41 first.

another example of EA's patches not being user friendly.. but yes.. download andinstall 1.41 first.. after that download and install 1.5..
if they dont work then try downloading from another source/site as regularly patches downloaded from EA sites tend to be corrupt for me

That's a strange thing right there... Why is it that 1.5 isn't available directly from EA or Dice like 1.41 and all previous ones are?
