Hey Guys & Gals,
I suffered a spinal cord injury 5yrs ago and since then I've made a controller so I can play games. Unfortunately NFS: Shift only has 3 button layouts with two nearly identical. Dirt 2 and GT5: Prologue are really helpful for me because I can map any function to any button. I know a lot of other people would appreciate this as well regardless of disability or not.
Can you patch this in? I would be so happy considering I just spent $70 on a game I can't play!

Damn dude, sorry to hear about your situation. The lack of tweakable controls is an issue I've been pushing for quite a few days now.
I really hope EA decides to patch it.

Why in the world aren't you using a computer to play games? Not that I'm against consoles but considering your situation you'd think you'd have a good computer to run stuff off of.

3 threads now on this topic now.
The sad truth however, is that I'm willing to bet EA [unfortunately] doesn't care in the least.
A+B+C = X and if X is worth less than the cost of a recall, err....patch, they won't do one.

Hrmmm, I see a lot of threads about this popping up now. It's pretty disappointing considering this was supposed to be a big change for the series. I feel cheated out of $70 agh. Well that seals my fate on ever buying an NFS game again, unless they patch this in...

As simplethethic as you all are to this persons situation but unthoughtfull about the answer you give to him.
You all say just get a computer and that would solve their problem, but that's not absolutely true, because you all fail to take certain things into consideration.
1. With this person's disability they had to have custom made controller just to be able play games. That tells me they have limited use of their hands, and if the game has set controls it's useless to this person.
2. Just get a computer...
a.) we know NFSs are designed for consoles and ported to the computer. So it's more likely the game is going to work right out of the box for the consoles, but with a PC it's a crap shoot, and EA is known for not fully patching the PC version of NFS.
b.) consoles are very portable and have a small footprint but computers are not so easily.
cleanme2, when you can post a pic of you're controller, I would love to see it, and how did you about getting it maid?
I hope EA really reconsider their position on this matter.

I tried contacting EA this morning via e-mail and they asked me to post my question on the message board
By now I've got my own personal hateclub on this board and they asked me to post AGAIN about this topic. I bumped my last topic and e-mailed them again.
I apologize to everyone who is getting frustrated at these threads, believe me, I'm not liking it anymore than you are.

Oh no. Dont apologize. You have just as much right as anybody in here to state your concern/complaints. The only reason people are dismissing your concern is because it does not affect them.

You're a good man Oshay
If it were just me, I'd have shut my mouth long ago. But, there are a good number of people, the OP of this thread for example who have already purchased the game and are now pretty much F-ed.
Then I see that EA patched custom controls to a game in the past and that only makes me try harder. Who knows, maybe all this ranting will get me and the many others in this predicament some form of result.

Thanks for the replies, hopefully we'll get one from EA. Yes, I can't move my hands so have made a pretty cool setup with Patent Pending I'm just frustrated that "we" don't even know if anyone from EA is reading or listening to this. So many other studios have GREAT Public Relations or community managers so you can at least get your voice heard.
I'd try to modify my controller but spending hundreds of dollars and finding a friend to put up with me to do the possibly permanent changes isn't worth it. I simply can't afford that.
I hate to complain as well but I'm stuck and not getting anywhere.

Go ahead and hate on me, cause you're gonna.
Now, to the author of this thread. Adapt and overcome. Just like you did 5 yrs ago when you suffered your injury.
As stated in another thread, over the 16 years of this series, EA has NEVER gone out of their way to fix problems.
If you look at the history of each NFS release, there might be 2 that got more than 1 single patch. EA is already developing next years NFS release (they do every single year), patches and bug fixes aren't really on their agenda.
You would serve yourself better by adapting to and overcoming what seems to be a "fixable" problem on your end.
Or just wait, run 44 races and watch your career disappear, even tho its still there. You'll really love that one.

He's done his part by building his own controller so he can make do considering his situation.
You invited the hating and while I'd normally consider myself above that, the only thing keeping me from going on a full-blown rant is the fact that I can't even begin to collect all my thoughts to begin bashing you.
EA f-ed up. They f-ed up bad and people are not happy. You can all scream "ADAPT AND OVERCOME!!!" till you're blue in the face. Some people can't and some people don't want to.
The bottom line is many people have now spent money on a game they wanted to enjoy to its fullest and now they can't. I'm to understand EA performed a patch in the past to allow for full control mapping and hopefully they will take note of the numerous threads regarding this issue and patch Shift as well.

I just wish I could disable the R3 press-down button when using the right analog for gas/brake. Though it'll become a moot point once my G27 comes in..
