If you want to see how the "feeling" is in real footage compared to SHIFT you can
watch this video : http://videos.streetfire.net/video/BMW-Z4-M-Coupe-V8-vs-RSR_168998.htm
A full lap with a BMW Z4 M Coupe at the 20,8km long Nurburgring Nordschleife.
I have to say..... SHIFT is pretty damn close but I have to practice more as I'm still 15 seconds slower with a faster car

Hahaha, yeah, you're actually hurting Shift by showing this. Because Shift decided that sliding around every corner at least a bit should be realistic. I don't see this guy sliding anywhere in the real race, but I'm not one of the haters, so I'll just let it be

Wow 8:43 not bad. Nordschleife is my favourite course. But you have to keep in mind NFS is just a game, and it`s fun. Isn`t that what counts?

@TSTO , You may have notice that the cars in the video actually brake before many turns, maybe you should try that to. In SHIFT I'm not sliding around the corners either. I'm slower than this guys on the video (but I would really doubt the reality value of SHIFT if I would have been faster)
PS. I'm playing on PC (this seems to matter according some posters than compared the physics model between the consoles and pc) and with a G25 wheel

man this complaing about sliding bull * is getting old. LEARN HOW TO * DRIVE!!!! my cars don't slide unless i tell them to. this is getting old but i think this game does a great job at showing the true racing experience. that was their goal and i really see no way to improve it. you are doing yourself a disservice though if you aren't using a wheel with this game.

I'm sick and tired of everybody complaining about Shift. People will find the dumbest things to dog the game just bcuzz it has the Need for Speed title. The game is great and very realistic. That video was awesome. spread the word about this thread. Oh and I liked that yellow 911 Porsche.

You misunderstood me. I'm playing the hell out of the game and loving it, I simply feel that the cars feel a bit more sluggish than they should. I know how to drive, I've went to race tracks and drove my G35 coupe in them. I played plenty of racing games, and I know the tuning aspect. So stop saying learn to drive learn to tune blah blah blah. I still love the game, I never said I didn't, it just feels like it slides a TINY bit too much.

As EA has stated MANY times. Shift is not supposed to be a FULL simulator. They had to tweak some of the physics so that players from their past games will be able to pick up and play. If an arcade gamer, came to a simulator, it wouldn't be pretty.

I made a quick and dirty side by side video of shift and the footage of the video. Fraps (unregistered) only lets you save 30 seconds... so the clip is only 25 seconds long.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmfDBHSXYfU
The quality is somewhat low as I don't have any good software to this better.

Well, I bet it's not pretty at any rate, because the cars are more difficult to handle in Shift than in Gran Turismo in my experience (especially powerful cars).

Great video, rj3005! - Though i really wish it were longer
Would be amazing if you could make a longer one (perhaps there is another freeware, but I don't know...)
But thanks for this one!

Well, I wouldn't say that it is close... but rather somewhat similar.
The car aerodynamics in that video actually work and keep the car planted to the ground... in Shift, well... its as if cars are gliding 1 centimeter above the gravel.
The physics in the game are also quite different with other cars... its as varies with each car.
The sense of speed is also a bit exaggerated in shift. But that's the part of the fun in shift.
But whatever.. its not like Shift is an actual Simulator.

The first 1.5 mille of the track is not part of the actual Nurburgring track that is in the game.

I think this game still has potential, but comparing it to the real thing? Kinda like comparing something like Call of Duty to the real thing...it ain't even close.
