NFS SHIFT - GAME CRASH FIXES HERE!

after hours of the game giving me crap! finaly can now play the game fine..

if your game hangs or crashes when loading races etc or missing dll files launching game, this is for you

go here:

Instructions: (follow steps from 1)

1. Uninstall any copy of NFS: SHIFT from your computer

2. Update your latest graphics card drivers here:

-for ATI card:

-for Nvidia card:

3. Download latest version of Physx:

4. Download latest version of Direct X:
google aug2009

5.Install Need for Speed: SHIFT

6. Use this no cd crack:

7. Right click Shift.exe (in game install DIR) and change compatibility to "Windows 98/ME"

8. Play the game! (ANY graphics settings!)

**Still problems?**

1. When loading main game .exe, if you get a bnk32 dll error install this file
to your windows/system folder:

2. If game still crashing after launching extract this config to "documents and settings/user(your account)/my documents/SHIFT"and overwrite:

3. If there are any other missing dll files messages when trying to launch the game, just download them and put in windows/system

Good luck!

I run XP here and running in 98/me compatibility worked great and allowed me to adjust all the settings now without crash. Good find.

nice way to get yourself banned (posting NoCD crack).

+ Why would you get PhysX from anywhere else but NVidia site
+ Why would you get DirectX from anywhere else but MicroSoft site.

I had some appcrashes in game while trying to start the race, after loading and in the same time when the lights were showing I had following error:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: shift.exe
Application Version: 1.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 4a953d01
Fault Module Name: shift.exe
Fault Module Version: 1.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4a953d01
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00651a18

I figured it out without changing compatibility to other Windows versions. I have Windows 7 installed on laptop (C2D 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM, GF 8600MGT with newest 186.81 drivers, newest DX version), if you have problems like that, try this solution:

Go to your user's Documents folder

find folder named NFS Shift, enter into it

there you will have folders with profile names and a file named graphicsconfig.xml, delete that file

run the game, it should run on default graphic options

do NOT change details, change only the resolution to lower

after this settings on my laptop, changed resolution to 960x600 with no AA and the game runs... runs even good (like the x360 or even PS3) nearly 30/40 fps and looks good as well, but I still have input lag problems and no solution about them so far.

This is a reply to "rodney007 "

I uninstalled PhysX in control panel add or remove programs and reinstalled latest PhysX patch downloaded from Nvidia
website and game now works fine. Thanx (rodney007 ) Hope this helps any others sort out their crashes.
