Hi All.

I wanted to post again to tidy up some of trouble shooting and clarify the issue with the .cab file errors. We need to separate the issues between EA Download Manager versions and DVD. However, regardless of which version you have please try the following trouble shooting steps before trying to install the game. Also be sure to read the version specific information below.

General Pre installation steps:
First ensure that there is no legacy of your earlier failed attempts to install the game. These manual uninstall instructions will ensure that the game has completely been removed. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully, especially in regards to backing up your registry. http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=18339

Next make sure there are no corrupt files that may be conflicting with your installation. Delete your temporary files by following the steps on this FAQ:
http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/cci/ea/clear_temp.php

I also recommend that you defragment and check your Hard Drive for errors. Follow the instructions on this FAQ to prepare and clean up your hard drive (please note the XP instructions should work for Vista users as well):
http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/cci/ea/pre_installation.php
You may also want to try reinstalling the installation InstallShield software.
1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
2. Select Run.
3. Type C:\Program Files\Common Files into the text box and click OK.
4. Right-click the InstallShield folder, and select Rename.
5. Change the name to InstallShieldOld.
6. Start the game installation again to reinstall the InstallShield components with the newest version.

Before you install the game make sure you have ended your background tasks. I also recommend that you disable any active anti virus software you have running.
http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/cci/ea/background_tasks.php

Before installing make sure that you have ended all unnecessary background programs and processes. The instructions for are on the following FAQ from our Support Site: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/olh_adp.php?p_faqid=10700

EA Download Manager Version
These corrupt .cab errors are usually an indication of a corrupt download or decryption. One way to check if this is the case is to browse to:
C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EADM\Cache

There will be one or more folders with names something like ?{2246546-5446546}?. One of these folders will contain your Crysis Download folder ?Crysis_SE1?. Right click on the ?Crysis_SE1? folder and select ?Properties?. The Size on Disk should be 5.46 GB and there should be 1440 files, 49 folders. If your information does not match this you have a corrupt download. Unfortunately this means that you will need to delete your Cache and re download Crysis. You will need to click the small red 'X' next to the game in Download Manager to remove the temporary files, and then re-download.

Also make sure that you have enough Disk Space to install the game. You will need 12 GB of free space to install the game after downloading it. To be safe this means before downloading you should have 18 GBs of free space.

Unfortunately if the steps above did not resolve the issue with your current Download files you will need to clear your Download and redownload the game. I realize this is especially frustrating if your download takes a several hours, but it is the way to resolve this issue. When you redownload the game ensure there are no unnecessary tasks running and all antivirus software and Firewalls are configured to allow EA Download Manager: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=11084

DVD Version
These errors could be caused by a faulty DVD. The easiest way to check this is to try the DVD on another System. You can also try EA_Violet?s suggestion of copying the contents of the disk to a folder on your desktop. If the copy fails on the file that is a pretty solid sign that the disk you received is defective.

You could also try these disk drive specific tips, particularly if you have any emulation software installed: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/olh_adp.php?p_faqid=10703

If you find the DVD is not working after trying the trouble shooting steps you will need to get a replacement DVD. If the retailer will not accept your game because it has been opened you can contact Electronic Art?s warranty department to get a new copy. Those details are here: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=8947

It would also be helpful to us if you could post your location and the retailer you purchased the game from. If there are faulty Disks out there this may help us narrow down if it a particular batch of DVDs that is at fault.

I would also like you to post information about your Disk drives so we can see if there is an issue with a particular model.

Cheers,
EA_MetroJack

I had the sounds~1.cab error

i was instructed to redownload the game

i canceled the digital download order and went to the store and bought the dvd

now when i install it has the same error with Object~1.cab

i had the error with beta/demo as well so i redownloaded those 5 times.. and eventually it worked.

this is the DVD version from the store, obviously i cannot redownload, and i cannot return it because they do not accept opened games for return.

theres nothing running in the background, i hit ctrl alt del and shut it all down except vital system programs.

i was also told to install the game in safe mode by tech support, but you cannot install programs in safe mode.

so now im screwed. my computer is fine, its new, nothing wrong with hardware...

If you have the disk version, then it is possible that it is defective. The easiest way to test that is to try to copy the contents of the disk to a folder on your desktop. If the copy fails on the file that is a pretty solid sign that the disk you recieved is defective.

Most stores allow for a same-title exchange in such a case, but just in case the store doesn't allow it you are within warranty and can exchange it through the EA warranty department without any extra fee. The warranty information is in the back of your manual but check with the store first since exchanging it there will be much faster for you.

If copying to the desktop works, let me know and I'll get you some steps on how to get around the error.

I'm getting them same error with the Special Edition DVD version...only it's the Level3.cab file that is corrupted. Trying to reinstall now, but my hopes are not up.

I'm have the pre-purchased, pre-loaded version - It downloaded on 11/12.

My crysis_se1 folder matches the requirements to the number. 5.46GB on disk, 1440 and 49.

I've tried a number of different things at this point and it is alasy the English.cab file that pops with the error. It first spends about 15 minutes "copying files", and gets to the end of the progress bar - at which point I'd think it would go through some quick file copies and be ready to go, but instead I get the corrupted cab error.

Any way to get that particular cab? I'm not excited about another 3.5 hour download - there should be some error checking built in, having download corruption reminds me of the Internet in 1995 when I used a 14.4k modem.

Tried copying everything, it's working just fine, so that rules out a corrupted disc. Need a workaround, please.

i copied everything to my hard drive from the dvd just fine

objects~1.cab still has an error

I then renamed objects~1.cab to objects~1.cab.orig and then took the objects~1.cab that I downloaded via ea downloader and copied it to the dvd folder - same problem. both corrupt?

the store will not exchange/refund it because its open.

how long does the warranty take? I'm very unsatisfied with this. I pre-ordered so i can play early. Then the pre-order goofed up. So i returned it and bought a DVD, and the DVD goofed up - remind u that none of this is my fault or my system's problem, its the files i bought from EA. So now this warranty deal will likeley take a few weeks ???
so do i get anything for my troubles here? i mean seriously, i cant get my money back for this game i bought, and the game is defective... ive been waiting for months, i took the day off of work to play and i've been trying to get it installed the whole day...

by working just fine, I mean the copying. The game still doesn't work. Just a clarification. Still waiting on that workaround...

Yeah, I'm getting the following error message:

Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Object~1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

If I click Retry, it will keep copying for a little while and then will stop and make no progress whatsoever no matter how many times I click retry.

If I click Ignore, I get: "Error 2350.FDI server error".

I checked my Crysis_SE1 folder and verified its size on disk, as well as files and folders contained within. Everything checks out.

My Specs are:

Windows Vista 32-bit
E6600 Core 2 Duo @ 3.3GHz
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX (Drivers: 169.09)
2 Gig OCZ ram
EVGA 680i Mobo
Latest Updates and Everything

Please HELP!

I have tried installing about 8 times now and it usually pops the corruption error at either Sound or Object, but sometimes it gets a little further. Of course it does different things each time so I'm not sure what the problem is. Anyways heres a few things ive tried that will hopefully speed up the solution process for EA so i can start playing and using Sandbox 2.
I tried not only my dvd optical drive, but also two more that were in my friends computer. None worked...
I decided to try and install it on the same friends computer with one of the drives that i attempted to use and it installed fine.
Both of us have Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit, however his computer came with it and mine was originally with XP and i upgraded to Vista (for this game i might add... just like i made my expensive computer for this game...)
So after all of that i decided i would reformat my computer and in doing so i wiped out over 200 gigs of stuff (pray i got everything i needed off of it *crosses fingers*) and it still does not work with any of the three dvd drives.

EA is the only host that can fix this "pre-ordered, digital download" so...Im just gonna keep re-downloading and installing till it works...LOL. Im all about troubleshooting issues, like taking the .cab files from my buddies and plugging them in, and all that stuff...but I dont think any of that will work for this particular scenario.

I am also receiving the same error concerning the Object~1.cab file (1.53 GB) with the Special Edition DVD. I have attempted to install 9 times now.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
NVIDIA 8800 GTX 768 MB
4 GB DC DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz
250 GB 7200 RPM SATA HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium

Notes: Latest drivers and updates have been installed for all of my hardware, as well as my firewall and Windows. I have granted full access to the game in my software firewall. I have also purged all files in the Windows Temp folder and rebooted, but still no results. I am now going to increase the size of the page file and reboot. Hopefully it will help.
