Hey all.

Remember back in NFS: Pro Street? You played a guy named Ryan Cooper. I remember getting so sick and tired of the announcer in that game trying to sound soooooooo cool, saying, "Check out Ryan Cooper......."

I know this is just petty, picky crap, but with Shift, I'm sick and tired of the repetitiveness of the British guy blathering on and on.....and he uses the same phrases no matter what. I know the voice actor is just following a script, but jeez, I wish they had given him more of a variety of things to say.

And did you ever notice? I think it's a "British thing" to say the word "right" before starting a sentence.

So I just love it when he says before just about every race, "Right....we wanna try for the podium here." Really?!?!?! Try for the podium?! You mean I'm supposed to try and actually win this race? And my intention had been to just cruise around the track admiring the other cars and the scenery. What I FOOL I am.

And how about when the three red lights count down to the green, and you could even get that message on-screen that says "Perfect Launch", and yet, what does the British guy still say? "Green! Go go go!!" Wait.....I'm supposed to GO on green??? DANG. I was waiting for a pretty shade of yellow.

I had to go into the game's Options, and then Audio, and turn off the voice option.

Anyway......

I finished the game in Career mode. Although, this is another one of those NFS games where you can complete Career mode and yet not have finished all of the races themselves. So, I'm going back and finishing races I had never even done.

Not too bad, overall. As is already known, this game is leaning more towards a SIM. I've fooled with the driving settings with some assists on; I was never really good at a true SIM. I've tried some SIMS in the past, even with a steering wheel attached to my computer. I've been driving a real car for over thirty years and I just couldn't get the hang of the wheel with a SIM. Then again, I've never driven a real race car on a race track

Although, when I'm in some of Shift's head-to-head races where you either have to beat the opponent to the finish line, or, get five seconds ahead of him......crap. I'm doing one of those races in Tier 2 in the American Car races. I've even tried a dirty overtake where I try to spin him out and keep going......but he always catches up.

And I don't know if it's because this game's closer to a SIM, but sometimes when I get too close to a side guardrail, and then steer in the opposite direction of the rail to get back on the main road, my car still sticks to the rail as if it were magnetized. What's up with that?

I think the car I have (Shelby) is fast enough for this American Care race, but what's this I've been seeing on the boards here about understeer or oversteer? Any tips on how to tune so I don't keep sliding into the guardrail?

Right.......ten seconds to green here.
Right.......we wanna try for the podium here.
Right.......have fun, be safe.
Right.......stay focused.
Right.......
Right.......
Right.......

Left.
