Been noticing a lot of concern about how to setup and join a Multiplayer game. We currently have a plan to make the flow of creating and joining a Multiplayer round easier.

I'm starting this thread to gather suggestions about what we can do to improve the ease of use for setting up/joiing Multiplayer games.

NOTE: I'm well aware of the desire to have turn-based Multiplayer rather than Simultaneous (ready-play). However, this discussion is not about that debate. This is simply to gather feedback on the current user path of creating and joining Multiplayer games; regardless of whether they are turn-baed or simultaneous.

Thanks.

the main one needs to be able to chat in the lobby ,that would solve most of the problems for me and there needs to be a point for playing multi player, for eg i played one yesterday , had fun , finished but there needs to be some reward for winning a game and finally the ability to set up our own mode of play eg matchplay , that would make it really fun

agree with u on this one.

definiltly nrrd some kind of a lobby to set up a match and some kind of token/reward system for wins.

chat lobby would be the first place to start.. when i play i wanna play omline matches thats why i play anything online to compeat against other people around the world and rite now thats kinda hard to do rite mow with this game.

remember people please remeber to click "TEE OFF"

We need Turn Based Multiplayer To Make This a True Online Experiance

The biggest problem I've seen is folks setting rounds, getting impatient, and then abandoning said rounds............. a chat lobby would go a long way to eliminating this problem ( a time stamp, as proposed in a prior thread, would allow folks to know that the match has been sitting too long to really be active any longer ).

I dont remember the specific thread I mentioned this on, but the "Chat Room Lobby" idea has not only merit for the overall concept of the multi-player platform, thats something I would love to see incorporated more into the "groups" idea / concept.

I think that idea would drive to things which strike me as goals for TWO in general --- community based play and multiplayer events.

You show up in your group's "Clubhouse". You see several guys you've chatted with ad-nauseum about whatever is jazzing them up / * them off about TWO that day. 4 (or more) decide you wanna go hit the links together (you know... like real golf). Include Nassau's and multiple ways to play as well (match play, 4 ball, 4somes, whatever).

I just think this would drive the community feel and the multiplayer concept to the point it would almost assure that TWO is a success. I think NOT having these things tackled or grasp simply limits how far the average guy would go out just to build up his golfer to make him better... beating himself.

Match-play based on the the players handicap would be great as well. It would allow the guy shooting 75's to compete with the guy shooting 55's. Im surprised this hasnt been talked about more, but maybe im just missing those threads.

The number of ways you could take this is pretty vast, but I think heavy "group" involvement would help drive both (and TWO in general) to the place(s) im thinking EA would like it to go.

Of course thats just one random hacker's opinion...

Greg,

Here's my take, two cents, opinion...

A chat feature in the multiplayer lobby is definitely required.

An easier way on how/when to tee off is also needed. Right now when you join a game and tee off, you may end up standing on the tee waiting for other players for god knows how long as the individual who set the game is waiting for three or four players to join before teeing off. You get tired of waiting, not knowing whats going on, so you quit the round. Believe the person who sets the round should have control as to when the game tee's off, no one else.

Another problem, when a round is started and/or finished, it should not be listed any longer in the MP lobby or if it is, it should have an indicator that it has started and/or finished and not allow you the ability to join it, thereby getting stuck on the tee.

I believe these three items are the main problems with the current MP set up.

In addition, for newbies and us thick headed folks who can't grasp the subtleties of the MP gameplay, detailed MP gameplay instructions should be included in the game guide.

It has been mentioned that MP requires a reason or point to play it. That's a good idea although some of us would play it, just for the fun of it, the competition is secondary. However, that being said, some sort of entry fee into the MP game, from you career earnings should be considered (a choice of free , $50, $100, $500, $1000, $10,000 etc.), the reward for a won game being the entry fee. Maybe even some sort of skill points/rating system for multiplayer games, the rating being visible to others, to allow you to decide whether to join a game against lower/higher rated players. You win, the rating rises, lose it goes down.

Another suggestion was multiple lobbies. Not sure if this is a good idea or not. Depends on the number of people in MP. If it's huge, lobbies may be needed, by skill rating or type of game (by tee position, wind, alt shot, match, stroke four ball etc., based on whatever game play choices are available).

Fo games with friends, followers or club mates, some sort of password system should be incorprorated so only your chosen playing partners can join.

Think that covers about everything as well as providing a bump to the thread.

Call me a stick in the mud, but I'm looking for a way to start a skins/match/stroke play game which is PRIVATE for me and my buddies only. The way/procedure TW08 sets up a LAN game works nicely but of course this version would need a password as Mav suggested above.

Adding my $.02
BIggest issue is actually finding a valid multiplayer game. A Chat either in the lobby or at the game screen once a game has been selected. It is two hard to tell if/when other opponents are still actively looking/ready to play.

I have lucked in to a multiplayer game and once in teh game all ran smoothly ( 2 player match); but getting started is VERY hit-miss

I've played a handful of the multi-player games so far.

While I like it when it works (everyone shows up and plays out) its great. I know there have been some questions about having a 'round based' group (everyone takes their turn), but I say keep it simultaneous. I firmly believe the speed which 4 players can get through one round simultaneously is far greater than if 4 guys took turns.... which would take a long while... the speed of which one can get through a round of golf on here is a big plus for those of us who jump on when we can.

The structure its set up with now I dont care for. It's to hard to see what guys are really 'ready', what guys were ready, and what guys are no longer anywhere around. Im sure this can and should be improved upon.

I like the chat room / clubhouse idea myself, but theres a lot of ways to take this. I think its on the right track, I like the time limit its set up with now.

Getting a round really started and rolling with more than one other person though I've found to be a signifigant challenge because there is no real way to communicate prior to actually both being there and playing.

There DEFINITELY has to be a better way to communicate with others when trying to set up a multi-player game.

As is now, you have no way of knowing if the guys you are playing... are actually playing... or even there.

I get that there is some lag / delay with it, but rounds appear on there who have either no one playing on it currently (maybe it was started?) but dont even take off after you've attempted to start.

Getting a multi-player game going on almost nothing more than blind luck isnt the most efficient way to do it cant imagine.

Again, I enjoy the actual play style (simultaneous). It would be great if you could play games other that stroke play as well... match, nassaus, stableford, etc.

... but I'd settle for just the ability to talk/chat with others about starting a game... starting that game with all the players showing up... and then all actually being able to play.

quick question is there a way to see how a game has been set up (green and fairway speed, hardness and wind strength) before you join.
And as everyone else has said a chat room definitely, rewards would be nice.

not before you join which is also a problem, you have to join to see the conditions set and before you know it someone's teed off and you quit
