Everybody loves polls. At least I do
Okay, so Criterion Games is working on a "revolutionary" new NFS title. That's all nice. But we also know Black Box is working on yet another game, supposedly due for release in 2011. So what kind of game would you like that to be?
Classic – heavily focused on exotics and police chases with limited or no styling (although as Torque pointed out in the retrospective, The Need for Speed had both tuners and muscles as well).
Underground – heavily focused on tuners, styling and performance tuning. Little or no cop involvement.
Most Wanted – mixture of tuners and exotics, focus on police chases and scaled down tuning and styling.
Please don't flame me if I got something wrong

There's nothing revolutionary about it. Alex ward stated himself that it's going to recapture the early years of NFS (pre-Underground)
Now it's rumored Black Box is making Underground 3. Now Underground was good but it's not NFS same with Prostreet & Shift. Make the games but take Need For Speed of the name cause the last TRUE NFS game was Hot Pursuit 2.

After looking into this I've found that Criterion's game will be a retro-evolutionary game. Harkening back to a time when Need For Speed owned a larger part of the genre. Partially because there were less games available, partially because making those games were easier, and partially because there were less players overall.
However, which was the main aspect of my search, there is no actual news on BlackBox and Underground 3. There are however alot of forums saying "Don't you wish they made an Underground 3?" and even some dude who made a "what if" piece of boxart for the game.
So, uh, yeah. No confirmation on what BlackBox (who have hopefully gotten some lessons in programming) is working on.

That was a rumor that was denied by Alex himself, he never said any such thing. Sorry to spoil your day.
Regarding Underground 3 that also seems taken from the air, however it seems very plausible considering the success of the Underground games in the past.

Any source on that?

If EA can't make a better police-chase game , it'd better not make.
A good no-police game is much better than a bad police-chase game.

None, because the last few titles have been horrible. Shift is no improvement, it has nothing on GRID, which IMO is one of the best racing games around. Sure hope Codemasters is working on another one.

GRID has a major lack of cars & what happen to those other 2 car packs? Guess Codemasters are full of hot air. At least EA supports their games for a bit & don't announce stuff that's never coming.

I think you are confusing EA with Slightly Mad Studios. SMS support their games and don't announce stuff that's never coming. EA however... well, they are full of it. To the brim.

Bits of the quote that are in bold are, you guessed it, complete and utter trash. And only someone who would love underground would say it. What does IMO mean anyway ??

I wish EA Black Box will be making a completely new game title, based on Undergrounds and MCO. Imho they are incapable of making a nfs close to what HP/HS, SE and other old titles were like. EABB should make a game called (something like) Underground Motor City that would be concentrated on ricing, customizing every possible part of a car, rap, hiphop, gangs, shows, ...
I hope Criterion will make a game that would be worthy of bearing the "Need for Speed" title (concentrated on playing as a cop).
