Nice video. Good to see Forrest putting the Silva fight behind him.
I'm still not sure what to make of Forrest as far as his place in MMA at 205. Is he just a guy who will win a big fight ounce in a while? Or is he really a great fighter? He does have some nice vic's on his resume (though I still don't feel he won the Rampage fight). The fight against Tito will show alot imo. BOTH guys are hungry right now, and I beleive that two hungry fighters makes for a damn good fight.

lol totally, I mean I'm no MMA fighter and would probably get knockout if Anderson Silva punched me in the thigh. But Forrest Griffin is a MMA fighter and has been a a ton of fights, But I'm still gonna say It was an embarrassing night for FG.
^lol, even when he's not in the ring with him, he's running away from Silva lol. Ok, he didn't exactly run from Silva in the fight, but you get my drift.
But serriously, whats he supposed to do or say? I like the fact that he's just going to try and put it behind him. But we won't really know until he fights again.

There's no shame in losing to Anderson Silva, especially right now when he is probably at his peak.
I respect forrest alot.. he's been in a lot of tough fights, and he's absolutely right about not knowing unless your fighter, u get so many guys saying how embarrising his loss to Silva was, or ''that jab wouldn't of knocked me down'' or he shoulda done this, and i woulda did that... That kinda stuff really gets on my nerves.. those ''armchair'' warriors w ill never know what it's like to put themselves in that position.
My best friend is close to turning pro in MMA , and i see first hand what its like to be a fighter.. i see what he goes through in the gym and in fights, i often help him out and spar with him too, so for people that don't really know or understand what it is to be a fighter its easy for them to criticise and judge.. like i said them armchair warriors make me mad.
I think forrest can bounce back, yes it was a "devestating" loss, but never an "embarrassing" one.
There is never anything "embarrassing" about two warriors stepping into a cage to do battle. Yeah forrest lost to Silva, but you know what... He certainly wasn't the first and he most definitely won't be the last.
It could be the realisation of long cherished dreams, Or an unspeakable disapointment after years of dedication. Words can describe such steaks.. But never truly harness their meaning. For that..... There is only the ruthless poetry of the fight.

Thats fine. But what about people that DO fight that also have this opinion?
Your reasoning only works for one side of this. And the fact that Forrest lost to a jab isn't what most people rip on him for anyways. Its the MANNER by which he conducted himself AFTERWARDS ie: running out of the ring, refusing to do interviews and so on. Its easy to think all this ridicule he's faced is just from losing now that some time has passed. Don't be so quick to judge people on their opinions based on FORRESTS conduct passing it off as people talking smack about him BECAUSE he lost. THAT is why alot of people have said "I lost a little respect for him that night". NOT because he lost, but how he handled the loss.
All that said, there is no shame in losing to Silva. I've yet to read OR hear anyone say anything remotely close to that.

Handled himself... that's the thing, people are talking like he lost the weekend softball match. This dude does nothing but train 24/7 and the notion in the back of his head is, "I'm not the best but I'm definitely a world class top tier fighter." and then he gets toyed with like he's an amateur.
It's like reaching the top of Mt. Everest to discover that there's just another Mt. Everest sitting on top of the one you just climbed. Martial Arts in general is about self discovery, pushing yourself further and further... I can't imagine the sense of futility he must have felt after that match.

Agreed. But there were several other fighters that lost that night as well that had to face the music and did so. No excuses. I personally don't care about Forrest Griffin either way, but the way he took that loss was B.S. Frank Mir got crushed in the ring against Lesnar in their last match and had a micro-phone stuffed in his face while he was still trying to stand up, and stood there and conducted himself as best he could. Thats all that I think the fans ask, and for Forrest, who has this big time reputation as a standup guy and fan favorite to act the way he did, was not only out of character, but let alot of HIS fans down when he chose to take it that way. His resolve and demeanor is one of his biggest assets as a fan favorite, and he is advertised as such as well. This is why I personally understand the scrutiny that follows his last fight. I get being let down, but he isn't the only fighter that felt that way that night.

Okay first of all if you read my post i was talking about people that don't fight.. not that DO fight, and i wasn't judging anyone i'm talking about the countless number of people that i have spoke to who have put forrest down for GETTING FINISHED BY A JAB.. i never said anything in my post about how he conducted himself after the fight so i don't know where you pulled that from.
In regards to the way he acted after the fight.. it was very disrespectful and something that i don't condone.. but as far as guys going on forums talking about how much they lost respect for forrest... thats fine, its not like they're ever gonna get in the cage and fight probably the best p4p fighter on the planet.. Feel one of his punches or kicks and judge how they react.
Forrest is a very emotional guy, if you've been watching MMA for a long time you would know how emotional he is.. i'm sure he regrets what he did and i'm sure he didn't intentionally mean any disrespect to Anderson. also he apologised to Anderson after.
I don't agree with what he did, but i'm never gonna be in a cage fighting one of the best fighters in the world, so who am i to judge him.

Noted, but if you read MY post, I stated that your comment works for ONE side of the issue (the non-fighter side). My post wasn't really meant to take issue with you directly, it was meant for those who take EVERYONES opinion and attach that reasoning to it, which I don't think is fair.

No, but as fans of the sport (those fans that don't fight) they have witnessed PLENTY of fighters who have gotten in the ring with Silva and not reacted in the same manner to an *ss blasting, I mean look at Franklin, he's gotten the raw end of that stick more than a few times, and I don't recall him reacting like that..

So are alot of other fighters in the sport, this doesn't make him special in this way or excuse what he did. Again, I'm not saying that I lost any respect for him, truth told, I've never thought much of him either way. I'm just pointing out that I can understand where people are coming from that say they did, regardless of wether they are fighters or not. Its ok to have an opinion, I mean if we're un-willing to give our opinionated statement about someones reaction to a loss, why are we even discussing what the outcomes of future fights will or should be then lol? And as a forum MOD, I would hope that you don't want some of us to stop visiting this site and swapping thoughts in debate simply because we may or may not be fighters?
In the end, this is what forums are for, discussion of opinions mixed with fact. We're all entitled to agree or disagree with one another.

You've totally lost me.. When have i ever suggested that it's not okay to have an opinion????when have i ever suggested people stop visiting the forum whether or not they may or not be fighters? ur basing your points on things i've havn't even said. I dont understand.. your suggesting things i havn't said, and then things you hope i wouldn't do, then your making your counter point on it?? I mean am i missing something here?? lol.. Im gonna leave it at that because you seem content on wanting to start an argument with me which i respectfully decline from having. Thank you

WOW, a little defensive are we lol? I never said that you have suggested that people don't visit these forums, I was saying that I HOPE you wouldn't take it that far. Very different.
As for WHY I chose my wording:
but as far as guys going on forums talking about how much they lost respect for forrest... thats fine, its not like they're ever gonna get in the cage and fight probably the best p4p fighter on the planet.. Feel one of his punches or kicks and judge how they react.

Now you follow this sentence up by saying "thats fine", but it came across kind of spitefull to me, not MAJORLY spitefull, but slightly. But these are your words never the less.
Look man, I know you to be a damn good poster around here, don't get all out of sorts with what I'm saying here lol. I'm not saying that you have been a d**k about anything in this conversation, I was just kind of confused as to why you seemed to think nobody had a right to feel ill of Forrest unless they were a "fighter" themselves....thats all.
No worries Poke, I come in peace
