BOXING JAB THEORY

What makes a jab special and what does the jab do?

The jab is quick, fast, and sets up your shots. People with excellent jabs have calm relaxed jabs that hit like a small spark of power and hit very accurately. Jabs can be made stronger by stepping forward, proper timing, and using footwork and angles. Your jab should be strong enough to stop your opponent in the middle of a combination, no more, no less. From there, your jab should be able to set you up to throw your power punches. When use defensively, a jab can make space, keep your opponents away and distract your opponent while you slide off the ropes.

definitely! the jab is almost worthless on this game unless you are planning on winning by points every fight.

the simplest fix for a lot of the spamming, if lennox lewis hit you twice in the face with a jab one after the other, i dont care who you are, your taking a step back, as it is now, you can hit someone 10 times in the face and they walk right thru it and proceed to spam the body.

also just let me add this: anyone who says the jab is fine in fight night round 4 has either

A: never boxed

B: not to smart on the mechanics and fundamentals of boxing

C: dont use it

The jab is and always will be one of if not THE most important punches in boxing, its a range finder, it interupts your opponents motion and punches by screwing the timing up, and it always sets up the finish product. Tyson was known for his great hooks and uppercut, but what many people dont realise is for such a small guy he had a good jab also and used it many many times when crashing his bombs home

A JAB IS GOOD BUT U CAN'T PICK JOE AND EXPECT THE JAB TO DO SUMTHING AGINST ALI MAYBE IF U THROW SOME HOOKS U BEEN FINE. OH THAT RIGHT IF U THROW A HOOK U R A SPAMMER. U GOT THE PATCH STOP WHINNING

You really fear EA doing what he's asking aren't you? This is incredible, every post that talks about fixing the jab you try to counter it with something.
You are talking more like a gamer than a boxing fan. You keep talking about throwing the hook... a hook is not a range finder or good punch set upper.

Thanks folks, I really appreciated it. I love how we are all coming together to get a realistic boxing experience. I really hope its not too late for them to add this to the upcoming patch, as it will do fighters like Liston Justice! He had what people called a "Ram-rod" jab that stunned many opponents.

The jab just isnt a weapon in this game. I hope they realize the importance of this issue, as its has been prevalent since the games release and not only affects online, but offline as well. The difference is the computer is programmed to respect the jab. Human opponents must be hit with it to respect it!

you know what i want for round 5, people from the community to be actively involved with the games production, not community events, but beta testing, saying what is right and what is wrong, people who care about the game, if they start with that then they will be on track
