Since you need a Nun right off the bat, I find myself skipping the kissers in favor of two punishing parties and a Nun (and me) to protect them until I get rolling. I suppose the double-team might not be too bad for taking down big things, but overall they seem to be a waste of fans. I admit I don't like melee troops as a rule, but at least with IH and DD they have an initial use since their T1 supports can't do combat without a double-team.

To put it in a word.... Yes.
Soul kissers 2 shot fan worms and 6 shot enemy merch booths. The 6 shotting merch booths isn't anything spectacular, but when you're in the opponent's base with legions of PP's and you have SK's sitting around, it's a quick means to cut off resources.

Last few matches I've played where it was TC vs TC I've sometimes used the Soul Kissers to one-shot the enemies Battle Nuns or Punishing Party Pin-boys.
I find it's worthwhile sacrificing one to kill their nun, as that eliminates their Healer and also means they can't use it for unit production.
Not sure if it would be worth sacrificing for any other units for other factions. MAYBE take out a bassist or something.

I never summon soul kissers tbh, I always lean towards 3 punishing parties (summon two straight a way and by the time the Battle Nun is done 'giving birth' you'll have enough to buy a third).

Soul kissers i've found to be extremely useful at the start of a match especially in maps with geysers that are the same distance between the two sides such as battered bluff, dry ice quarry and pleasure gardens.
My usual starting strategy is spawn 1 nun, 1 SK squad and 1 PP, as soon as the SK's are done i play the martydom solo to speed them up and send them to the middle geyser/s depending on the map. I then send the nun and PP to the geysers closer to my base. As long as i keep my SK's protected on their way to the geyser (which isnt hard with the martydom speed boost) i DT with them and take out the geyser in seconds. I then fly over to the PP and finish off the geyser which they were attacking and there you have it, 2 geysers captured within 15-20 seconds.
By that point its just protecting my units while upgrading...
