Comic better than Downfall anime? it sure is in my opinion , reason why i say is cuz the comic has that grumsome dark feel too it, while the Downfall anime mangna thing is a little colorful too colorful to be like all you no dark and grusome like its comic and game, so its appeals to me like egh not as scary as it should be, but the game and comic right on the money, not to mention its a space game, its not overdone like so many its a much more logical in the fact of how the zombies act, and the zero-g well that just seems to be awsome. only thing left is to get the game and see the rest of the comic.

I agree, I would of loved a more stylized art direction for the movie but I really can't complain that much. It's certainly much better than nothing.
They will most likely do more animated Dead Space (perhaps for DS2, DS3 etc.) movies and they talked about a big-screen adaptation.

Hard to say at this point, given that all we've seen of the movie thus far is a trailer. The comics have been great - well written, well drawn, and gripping as hell.
My big question about the movie is, will it be essentially the same story that we already know from the comics? Seems very similar judging from the trailer...
Either way, I'm looking forward to it. I have no problem with the art style, it reminds me of some of the better adult cartoons I've seen - the HBO Spawn cartoon, for example.

The movie is all new content, it bridges the gap between the comics and the beginning of the game.

I personally can't stand the particular animation style they chose to go with in Downfall; I think it's cheesy and a complete break from the otherwise amazing gritty reality perspective the game and the comic have both worked towards so painstakingly and creatively.
In a way, it almost makes me happy that I won't even have a chance to see Downfall before I've virtually beaten the game, as it only comes out on time with the ULE, and I have no plans to drop 150 USD on this game when I've already hocked up for a new 42' TV and a better surround sound-which definitely got me in some hot water with the wife-just to see some crappy hour and a half long cutscene.

I agree completely Zen, but since it's Dead Space I'm going to see it anyway.
Hopefully for their next animated feature (perhaps for DS2?) they can use a more detailed/stylized art direction that would IMO better fit Dead Space.

I like the art style they went with its different sure but it seems each story part they have adding to dead space is different take on the story style.

The movie might look a tad too colorful, but I suppose that's just the animation studio's style. It reminds me of the Boondocks cartoon. Anyway, the animated format does have one very big advantage over the game and comics, though, and that is how they can portray the Necromorphs mutating in front of the audience's very eyes. It looks very fluid and disturbing, judging from the trailer, especially that one human-looking face that abruptly "morphs" into several, which move across his skin like they're swimming through it.
EA has stated its intentions to make Dead Space into a full-fledged franchise, so I don't think anyone should be surprised that they will try different looks and art styles now and then, sorta like the Animatrix for the Matrix series.
Now let's just hope the story is at least up to par with the animation!

Right, hopefully they will go the way of The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight.

I happen to own both the Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight.
Let's be clear: I _love_ animated films when done correctly.
This particular art style just reminds me of a number of poorly done Cartoon Network shows. Beyond that, the art style just doesn't lend itself to Dead Space's feel. If it had been one of 6 or 10 shorts, that would have been one thing - but it's the entire film.
Speaking of the Animatrix, you know what would have been absolutely AWESOME? If they had used the manneristic art style that was used for the runner's short in the Animatrix. That episode still sticks with me, and it was pretty gruesome at points without the subject matter itself really being all that disturbing. Think about that art style + Dead Space's story elements. That would have been pure gory glory.

Yeah Zen. I think I loved just about every short in The Animatrix, what a brilliant piece of work.

Pretty much. The Animatrix is probably my favorite piece of art film of all time.

I'm pretty sure they are talking about the trailer for Downfall and not the actual thing.
I think Downfall will tell the story of what happened on the Ishimura while as the comic series showed the events of the colony.
I can't decide whether to Downfall when it comes out or wait till later. If I get it now that means I've spent about $90 on Dead Space and Downfall combined (since I would get the Blue Ray version). Well I would actually pick it up on Friday, Haloween, and then I would spend the rest of the day watching the animated comic, then Downfall, and then finally open Dead Space and play it. (I own Dead Space, but I havn't opened it yet, Haloween come faster!)
