My player got tripped on the breakaway so I had a delayed penalty shot (which happens wayyyyyyyy to often). I maintained possession of the puck, passed it back to my D men and shot it from the point. The puck got deflected and was bouncing around... then one of the dmen on the other team slapped it out of the air (keep in mind I still had a delayed penalty) but the ref did not blow the whistle. In fact, the d-man slapped it from infront of his goalies crease, all the way down the ice into my empty net(cuz of the delayed call). Not only that but I did not get my penalty shot afterwards. FML

lol

thats pretty brutal though how NHL09 was fine, there was no delayed penalty shot, then in NHL10 they decide to change it and go against NHL rules? Like why even bother changing it, it was right in 09, EA is unbelievable sometimes. Your going to tell me not one tester noticed the delayed penalty shot during testing? Either they were to lazy to go back and re-code or the dev team just doesn't know hockey, period.

that is nhl rules....its a delayed penatly...but usually if tripped on the breakaway you don't get the puck right back or you shoot a desperation shot. but a computer hitting it in mid air is considered playing it so you should have gotten the PS and they shouldn't have gotten the goal

You can score on the open net if you slap it out of the air or poke the puck into the net. Poking the puck into the net worked in 09 aswell..

The delayed penalty shots are completely bugged, there are several things that can ruin you chances of geting it. Dunno if it has been fixed but if the puck went over the glass after the penalty shot was called you wouldn't get one, same if the period ends. Not only will you not get a penalty shot, the player won't get a penalty.

I'm thinking they didn't want to whistle immediately on a penalty shot so they could show-off the 'on the knees' animation.
The lack of a whistle on the thread starter's post is due to the fact that the game doesn't recognize the batted puck, or even poke check as a puck possession. You could basically poke the puck around all the way down the ice and score on a delayed call as long as you don't take possession. That's a bug.

Yeah. I felt it was stupid that it took 20 seconds to resume the game. No need for the goalie to cover the puck after a penalty shot for that long.

This is where the controversial issue of control versus a deflection comes into play. I guess a slap out of the air is not technically control of the puck so the goal should count. It is also unfair that the penalized team was able to score by batting it out of the air though. This is a big issue and I cannot decide where the league should draw the line.

this is not true, you can score on a poke check and the goal is credited to you so the game does recognize that as a possession, otherwise you wouldn't get credit for the goal and i know you do b/c i scored in ot on bap in the prospects game on a poke check to win the game and the goal was credited to me

If it's not in the game, don't put it in the game

you were probably just the last player on your team to play the puck properly before you poked it in.

If you have a situation in front of the net where you disposses someone with a poke check and a team mate picks up the puck and scores ( no more passes) you get no assist either... 'cos the poke check isnt registered as possesion.
