News is that the UFC has banned Clinch Gear (Dan Henderson's MMA Clothing line) after UFC 105. There was a good amount of Clinch Gear shown throughout the CBS Strikeforce broadcast.
There is also a strong rumor that the UFC has banned RVCA after they sponsored Fedor and appeared on the CBS Strikeforce card as well, though the brand has close ties with BJ Penn, so it would definitely be an interesting scenario if the rumor is true.

If true, UFC is just shooting themselves in the foot. Are they really going to let fighters like BJ Penn and Hendo go?

It'd be fantastic if Penn would leave for Strikeforce (and fight Aoki, if he's really coming too). Most children I've seen behave more rationally than Dana, what an idiot.

See Dana is really the Fuhrer of his own little world.
The only difference is that Dana is banning companies instead of people.

That's PAINFULLY stupid. Clinch Gear and RVCA also sponsor other UFC fighters-I understand Dana wanting to make a buck, but acting like an * is going to come to light to the less in tune fans, and it's going to look really immature on his part.

Dan Hederson said on MMA live by ESPN that the clothing line was banned after he refused the offer from the UFC. It seemed like Hendo was still open to talks with the UFC but has been seeing strikeforce as well. I honestly think Hendo would do better with his clothing line in strikeforce anyways, more poeple watch free MMA shows then PPV shows anyways.

Babalu got banned. lol
Dont mean to go against the grain here but Dan was asking for waaay too much money. He wanted a HUGE contract which doesnt match his marketing value. After he was denied he threw a fit and started talks with Strikeforce. Dana then responded by banning his clothing line which is basically saying "You want to * and go to our rivals? Fine lets see how much you and your clothing line will make there". Dan * himself by being greedy. You cant expect huge contracts when you're not even a champ.
I dont see the big fuss. This hurts Dan not everyone else. I'm sure BJ and other fighters can easily get other sponsers. The clothing lines need the fighters. The fighters dont need the clothing lines.

Shhhhhhh KillaB, you're not allowed to say anything in a positive light around here about the UFC, or even try to tell the OTHER side of the story lol
I agree with you for the most part. I still see Hendo fighting in the UFC again at some point too. And I'll say this again, like it or not, the UFC didn't come this far by being un-buisness savy and even a little close guarded about their product. I don't agree with everything that they do myself, but they have to protect their brand, or it will cease to exsist. Plain and simple. There have been PLENTY of other promo's to come and go because they didn't play this game the right way, and everyone here critcizing the UFC for their methods needs to come to terms with the concept that they have to approach buisness in a certain way in order to maintain it. Its one thing to disagree with some of their methods, but it becomes completely hilarious when you guys jump on EVERY single thing that they do lol.
Needless to say, its a good thing NONE of you run an MMA promotion because, I don't think there would be much future for it judging by how most of you feel one should be run.

I agree to a certain extent. We do not know how much Hendo was asking for other then what White said(I havent seen anything official but if someone has a link please provide one)but if he was asking for more and being greedy then he deserves this.
Yes they do want to protect their brands being shown but blacklisting companies that have other fighters endorsed is a bad business move and harmful to the sport as far as up and coming fighters go. It is bad for business (for UFC) and fighters because it gives off an image that either sign your brand/life away or don't fight in MMA at all. MMA is blowing up and their are new fighters coming up all the time. If a new fighter can sign with a brand that isn't going to lock them down and allow them to fight where ever to make money, they will go with that option rather then being locked down to a single brand and possibly fighting every now and then just making ends meet.
Granted it is a great business move to keep exclusive name brands to UFC but their are other ways of doing it rather then they played with someone we don't like so we are going to take our ball home which UFC/Dana White is coming off as.
Just my two cents. I can see both sides but this really does sound like UFC trying to monopolize the sport rather then further it. Competition is always a good thing at least for the fans which are the ones who fund/make the sport successful to a certain extent.

Kinda makes you wonder how Dana's gonna keep saying "fighters get more than just purse money" if he keeps banning their sponsors.
Sure BJ might not suffer for the loss of RVCA, but the undercarder getting 7K to show would. You read the Pat Barry story, dude was eating rice and ketchup the day before the fight and on the verge of being evicted.

I disagree. They will definately be able to get sponsered by someone else. You ppl act as tho these are the ONLY sponsers out there. Things like this do nothing but open up opportunities for other sponsers to sign those fighters. Come on man, Dana wouldnt do this if it left his fighters stuck out.
