First off let me just say I am more than pleased with what I see thus far in the Playstation 3 Beta. I have also been playing battlefield since the original release of "Battlefield 1942," I consider myself more than a fan of the series.
The graphics are beautiful, the landscapes are huge, true to the Battlefield feel and the Blood effect is much appreciated and long awaited.
EA has once again proven that they are game giants, with a revolutionary team like DICE that shows they care for their fans with the up most concern of what they want and what they view as "Real Warfare." I was racking up some kills in a seemingly well put together building as a Sniper Class, then out of nowhere, the building is shot by a RPG and tank forcing the structure to come falling down on top of and killing me. Amazing, simply amazing.
If you are using a mic, your characters model mouth moves while speaking, on top of that, the voice support is flawless, perfectly clear. Team tactical communication is far better than that of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, which I have. Why? Because you don't have the entire server talking at once, a crying baby, people playing music ect. Distracting you from your overall goal in winning the match and playing with other gamers without confusion. Instead you are restricted to a "Squad Communications Network," making it 4+ people rather than 16. I would like to see a mute function though, because the children get on my nerves without failure.
Vehicle controls are great, use of the L3 to control everything is fantastic, making it have a much more of a real feel along with the screeching tires, nice touch by the way. Weapon customization is one of the things I always thought Battlefield lacked, not anymore. Want to change a scope? Want some sweet perks for being a diligent soldier? You've got it.
Suggestions/Complaints:
(1.) I very much dislike the use of R2 for the melee attack, I believe the R3 would be a much better approach. The R2 feels very robotic and sluggish rather than swift and quick.
(2.) The Sniper rifle(s) are extremely underpowered. Why do I have to shoot someone 4-6 times in the torso with the QBU88 to achieve a kill? The M24 Sniper Rifle is one of the most powerful of it kind, why does it take 3-4 shots in the torso? (Not all the time, but far too often)
(3.) Tanks are powerful, thats good. I suggest 2 RPG rounds would destroy a tank in reality so why should it be any different in game? I do think a single well placed shot to the rear portion of the tank (weak point) should be an instant kill.
(4.) You have proven you can make Warfare realistic down to the last stone falling from the top of a building onto the ground after being hit by large explosives. You have also added the blood registering a hit rather than a mere shrug of the shoulders. Now please give us at least the option of Gore. You got Destruction down with flying colors, now show us some Dismemberment, I do recall playing..... Dead Space? Oh and I am also awaiting the EA MMA release, you guys are awesome.
(5.) Prone would be a nice add on.
(6.) Please don't succumb to Call of Duty, remove the kill cam. Where is the realism in a kill cam? I hate them. Kill Cam = Anti-Sniper, also my favorite class.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be involved with the development of this game, it is an honor and pleasure. I would die to work for you guys.
I will post more upon playing, but I would like to thank the Game Developers for creating this monumental piece of gaming history.

There's a bug I think with the stationary missile launcher (I don't know what's it called). Sometimes I shoot at the person in control of it and the shots don't register.
Tweak the bloom down a little bit because it makes it really hard to see.

like the thread starter I love the beta so far.
but pop ins are an issue, kill cam is for teenies and weenies and prone would be nice!

3 problems thus far.
1. Hand gets stuck in air after throwing grenade.
2. I get dc'd near the end of every round.
3. Needs a better in-game squad joining facility. I tried to join a friend but kept getting put in a different squad. (midgame)

I've only experienced number 3 in your list, it is a bit quirky, but this is a Beta. I want open sever search as well, rather than just joining random games.

Sniper rifles are usually, and traditionally, 2 torso shot kills and 1 head shot kills for BOLT Action, it works, trust the developers. QBZ and other semi-automatic snipers will always take a bit more. It's Battlefield, not a different game.
Tank's can be taken out with 2 shots, in the rear. If it was 2 shots anywhere, it would make the tank useless. Gameplay > realism, to an extent. In Battlefield, players enjoy a bit more "Survivability", makes the game more intense and feels less reptitive and/or sucidal. It's like playing a Heavy/soldier as opposed to a Pyro in Team Fortress 2.

i think #1 on my priority list for features is:
A MUTE BUTTON!!
i know this game practically requires squad tactics but sometimes you do end up in a match with an idiot or 12 year old who just screams and such. this can make playing that match almost unbearable to the point of quitting. i'm begging for this. i'll send 60 dollars like that PC player did if DICE were to promise a mute button coming ha.
whoever commented on the bloom lighting, yes. i totally agree. i tried fiddling with the contrast and brightness but to no success.
is it possible to get a linked squad feature? i mean, i know the main squad feature isn't perfect yet (you can't join into a friends squad and all that) but i have more than 4 friends who could potentially play this game at once. so if there was 6 of us, split the 6 into 2 three man squads or somethin' and make it so they can talk as one group (party chat perhaps?).
oh, snipers can currently get up into the freakin' trees. when they do this it is extremely difficult to find them (except the "kill-cam"). perhaps make the "kill-cam" much more zoomed in so it's significantly more difficult to discern where they are, but players can at least note if they were shot from SOME building, or if they were shot from a sniper in SOME tree. thats my only suggestion.
otherwise i'm totally loving this beta. keep up the awesome work DICE and i'll keep up the representation (i work at a game store and i'm talkin' to everyone about bc2! woo)

From what I'm seeing on the live feeds
1) Hopping looks a little high.Then again, it is BF
2) Being able to break fences with a knife is kind of lame IMO; it should require explosives or a vehicle...anything other than a knife
3) The time it takes to scope with the sniper rifle looks kind of long.I understand that it's only a second, but a few milliseconds of blackness can make it feel like an eternity when it's an important shot
4) Did I see players equipped with grenade launchers throwing out ammo packs? lol
5) I know prone is being left out because of camping, but it would still be a nice addition.In the feeds I'm watching, proning to avoid fire would be my first reaction and yet it cant be done.For example: I've seen a lot of people crouching behind cars and whatnot, only to be vulnerable to fire anyway and a lot of folks using LMGs cant prone so are the guns more accurate while crouched compared to previous BF games or are players stuck with weapons that cant hit crap at medium-long range?
6) PC question.Will there be a server side option to remove the red grenade icon?

ya controls are pretty bad.
like switching to a C4 (or other skill based weapons) is pretty hard and it feels like i should have 3 hands to do this.
Plus bug in game is R1 to throw R1 to detonate. Should say L1 to throw
Select to spot. Really?
Driving is wayyy worse. Forward to move? This aint the warhog in halo. Put back throttle buttons.
Plus assigning a trigger for 1 lousy gernade that doesnt really kill anything (havent gotten a kill yet with it). rather have no gernades if 1 stupid gernade will take a whole trigger button. Better off assigning it to a useful weapon.
Damage i disagree. It seems to be like 1/4 of BC1. 3/4 should be better.
Its not fun to kill things if its not a challenge. If im a sniper i can get 10 kills in one minute. Its pretty lame. Plus maps are too big for 24 players.
Condense the map and add health.
Kill cam is really the dumbest thing i ever seen. I think this forum did like 100 surveys already. And most people will agree.
Sniping is too easy actually. Add a shaking hand and breathing control.
I rather pay for a BC1 map pack than this (can you guys release more gold rush maps for BC1 please). I know its the beta, but really guys you changed the series wayyy to much. Seems to please the COD fans. Lam

I agree with 80 or so percent of what you are saying Dr J McLoven, but large maps are wonderful, regardless of how many people are in game. Add health? Be a medic class every once and awhile.
Kill cam is an abomination to the Battlefield series.

MEMBERS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS, BUT how do you think about the squad chat only communication. If you're in a tank and i'm your gunner and we're in different squads, how can I communicate with you about targets you can't see?! If you're in a helo and I'm on the ground and need air support and we're in different squads, how can I communicate to you that my squad needs air support. If my squad is moving to a position with tough resistance and we need sniper cover, how can i communicate to another squad for support fire IF WE CANNOT COMMUNICATE TO OTHER SQUAD MEMBERS?! ARE WE JUST SOL?!
I really loved BF:MC2 because it was a real TEAM effort. How can you simulate warfare but can't communicate to another squad for support...i don't understand.
