Take checking off the skill stick so we can have more control over the players' stick defensively. I think this would take a lot of the cheese out of the game and give the players more versatility.
Make checking a button and directional stick movement. Maybe the Y button? that way if you hold Y near the boards you can tie them up or out in open ice it performs a hit?
Since checking is a guessing game right now, add some sort of gauge or meter to our players that indicates our ability to throw a successful check. (maybe, but I think I like the uncertantiy b/c it takes the crazy hit fest out of the game)
Just an idea for some controls/indicators in the future. What do you all think about these?

The last thing EA needs to do is focus on how to keep the puck out of the net, six mokeys with XBOX controllers can figure it out already!

I'll take that as an "I'm happy with the control scheme."
Anyone else?

Have you tried the other controls that can be used?
If you did you would see that custom controls changes the hit button and the defensvie skill stick. So RB + RS= hit and the RS is your defensive skill stick once you dont have the puck.

Thanks Snipes. I had checked the control but never noticed the difference you pointed out.
