This is about BFBC2 having the F word and other "bad language" in it.
Look here http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/341669.page
Now if you read it, you might be shocked. Yes there are bad words galore in BC2. I was very interested in seeing that when you snipe someone, the game responds with the F bomb and the player needn't say anything. I was noticing in that thread the "skirting of the language filter", which is expected since the discussion revolves around language and its lack of filters in game.
Now my biggest concern is this, if EA can release a game full of cursing and allow that type of language in that forum section. Why can't we? We use acronyms and get suspended around here, yet there in the game we have the worst of all language abuses. Is this not sending a mixed signal?
I have no problem with language in games, but to then say "You are banned for using a bad word" while actually adding bad language in their games is a little perplexing.

Well I guess in the game, there is one or a couple of swear words. On these boards you would have no control of what words would be written.
Another thing is that BFBC2 probably is getting rated and labeled with the swearing in mind. These boards does not have an age limit or rating. Therefore lets say that kids can go on to these boards, and read some posts with swear words. Swear words their parents do not want them to know. Then the parents will investigate were the kids learned those words, and will come to these forums. Moreover, they will probably contact EA and might even threaten EA with legal action. For letting such a site with such words open to public. So EA got to make sure they please everyone, well this is the probable reason. Or atleast what I think.

It's a little difficult to measure skill level only based on stats. Sure a high K/D ration or a high win/loss ratio or a lot of points might tell something about the soldier. However in the end it's what happens on the Battlefield that matters. |

Hmmmmm.....good question Ibe and nice reply Elite!!!
I would concur that the game itself is rated, and not the boards....so, in the forums there would be more of a 'risk of exposure' , so to speak, of the foul language to those that should NOT be exposed to such.
Hopefully, parents of minors who like to play these games or use these type of forums are monitoring....but we all know.....some do, and some do not.

It does seem a bit hypocritical, but EA could get around it by having a language disclaimer pop up when you come to this site.

oh, yeah when parent dont want ther kids to know bad words the kids never find out and use those words.... NOT!
at least we now know we can use the f words in BC2 forums.. if we get banned we can complain at EA (although we have long ago agreed with the rules not to)

Overall, EA wants these forums to be rated E for everyone, even if the games are not.

Glad you popped in and maybe you could clarify for us. If someone in the BC2 forums, used the F word in text. Could you guys still action his account? It would appear to be a catch 22. I know if it were me getting actioned, my argument against it would simply be "Hey, you guys let the word into your games, but I cant say it here? Whats the difference?"
It just seems odd to me that EA would allow vulgar language in a game, while banning people from their games for using the same language. I can see if a guy is constantly F bombing, but we just saw a guy get suspended for using the acronym of the word that someone at EA said "Hey lets put it in the game". It seems like EA has a double standard and its the forum guys who get the short end.

it would only seem fair that you wont get banned from the game wich has the swearing in it... but then they jsut ban your other games.... just to F word with you..
On another note... why do we get banned if we say bad word that doesn't get filtered.. but DON't get banned if it gets filtered? I can understand using "$$" and "€" and "3" to cloak real letters to show your word results in a ban or what.. (but still only from the forums)
