I find it so frustrating when you get a 6 on 6 or 5 on 5 or what have you, only to have a 1/3 or 1/2 the players drop out because they didn't get their position. Well there's a really simple solution for this, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.
Next year on the team selection screen they should have the position selection as well, that way when you join a session you pick your team and pick whatever position is available. That way everyone is getting the position they want, and if their's is taken, they back out right there where it wouldn't have any effect on the final line-up.
I think we would have a lot more 6-6/5-5 with a lot fewer back-outs mid-game.

I see the logic in it, but it still wouldn't eliminate 1/2 the people leaving because they didn't score first..........

Easy fix for people quitting midgame would be to actually start tracking OTP DNF and actually instill an attribute penalty if their % is too high and scale it up the higher it gets. They ALREADY have the ability to do this...it's called fatigue.
That way if a person routinely quits out of games their player will get worse and worse until they start playing games consistently to get that % back to a reasonable level. That then leaves players having to decide what is more important...finishing a game they may or may not lose or have a harder time in future games.
Simply keep the % fairly reasonable like 15-20% before the first effects and scale it upwards to a point where a high DNF person plays like a starting player regardless of their card or boosts.
You implement this along with a position select in the lobby prior to committing to the game (to allow people to fill wholes in open positions when people leave because they don't get what they want) and the game's OTP will become exponentially more enjoyable.

it should be whatever position you select for your BAP you should have to play. I'm sick of defensemen taking center and losing every faceoff and then just add the first come first serve thing so If I'm the first center in the game I should get locked into that position and no one can take it from me

Actually, EA developers already discussed this and even PROMISED it to be in this game. That along with OTP DNF. The two things that would make OTP infinitely more enjoyable. But instead they lied, and somehow in 1 full year could not find the time to include this. So now I play Forza instead of OTP, I only play this game when club is on.

It's such a common sense idea that I don't know why the dev team didn't include it this year. It just makes no sense to me at all.
