Here is Visual help that shows what I'd like to see in FNR5 when I'm talking about punching from the guard. See How Cotto is protecting one side of his head while he's hitting Clottey with that left hook. In the game this is impossible since you have to bring both hands down before throwing a punch see pic right below. I should also mention that you shouldn't be able to punch from the guard when throwing a ludging/leaping punch or even a haymaker, but only when both feet are set.

My solution would be to down use the now freed left bumper to hold the block up or down consequently freeing the right stick to throw punches. That way you can finally use text book boxing and protect one side of your head or body while you throw a punch, forcing the opponent to counter with the right punch. What I like with that solution is that it’s not automatic you have to remember to do this to block while you throw, the better more disciplined fighters will take advantage.

When our stamina bars are near empty the only affect on the boxer is that his punches get slower. That isn't representative of what really happens in the ring.
The boxers foot speed should get slower.
The boxer should have a hard time blocking shots, punches should get threw, basically it should affect the blocking hub bar. If anybody has ever boxed dead tired you know what I mean, it even gets hard to keep your arms up.
But leaning against the ropes should help recover stamina faster.
I'd like to see this fixed in a patch if not it needs to be in Round 5.

Also the training games... the first two were easy, the second two were doable but very luck-dependant.. it's the last two that always trip me up.
Either make the training easier, or stop punishing people for auto-training.
One idea might be to borrow an idea from the UFC game. You have a certain number of 'dates' between fights, and you have to divide them between fights.. dates you have to divide between training to build stats, sparring to prepare for your opponent's fighting style, doing shows and interviews to increase your visibility, and resting to preserve your stamina.
This would mean they wouldn't have to work so hard trying to make the training games interesting, overtrain and your stats get a boost, but you'll have less stamina for the fight. Fail to promote yourself and you might have a tougher time the next time you're looking to sign a fight.
This would balance things and also make for more interesting, real life scenarios as worrying about training/rest levels, going into fights overworked, and being criticized for losing a fight after a lot of media attention.
Integrate the bob and weave into the same system as the lean system. Right now you can't 'lean' under a hook, only bob or weave, which isn't as reactionary as it could be if it were more of a 'lean'

to make it simpler why nt just hold the RT down half way to throw from you're guard.
so you dont have to switch triggers to throw a left right combo whilst protecting you're self
I agree with having only getting bug name venues when u r abig name. Allow for more clothing mods. Ring entrance mods. Is there no personality in FN4. Have tassles on trunks, boots, robes. Have regional fighters schedule fight at their home base, crowd favoring them. Signs, faux famous people. Outdoor venues or arenas. Have boxers that are dangerousor viewed as so get ducked, big paydays, legacy altering fights. Press conferences, pix face 2 face & otherwise. Walk 2 ring holdng belt or entorage holding it, holading multiple belts, all being shown or worn, A la Tyson Haye Money, Suger Ray all the guys that held numerous at the same time. Allow injuries or suspensions, TV contracts, more than one network. Hiring/firing of promoters, cutmen, trainers. Interact with fans Ral knockouts. No counting just sleeping! At he conclusion of any match that goes the distance don't show the dejection until the loser has been anounced. Fix the message screen show who the new champ is and how they won it. Show all title fight results on some screen. Give fighter the awards they win, or aloow them to be in a trophy case, belts won ko of year, fight of the year.etc.. Way more signature punches. Only Sugar Raynad Ali shuffle and bolo. Other do it but not as a signature. Add th punches from FN3, even the vaunted Roy Jones straight right. I loved th eanimation when you gou hit with too many. I do belive Panosis hit on most of this though. Lets get it On!

YOU GUYS DID BETTER MAKING THE PUNCHING SMOOTHER AND LESS ROBOTIC. I STILL GET THAT FEELING WHEN YOU ARE RUSHING WITH COMBOS IT'S LIKE I..2..3..4..5..6 THEN YOU START TO GET TIRED. I'M JUST SAYING MODIFY THE FIGHTING STYLE OF SPEED PUNCHERS ESPECIALLY CAUSE PACQUIAO PUNCHES LIKE 123456 NOT LIKE I SAID EARLIER. SAME FOR ROY JONES. YOU SHOULD ADD ANOTHER STAT CALLED COMBOS. MAKE IT LIKE THIS FOR EVERY BOXER EXCEPT OBVIOUSLY SPEED MATTERS. WHEN YOUR OPPONENT IS HURT THIS SHOULD BE A KEY TO GETTING THE KNOCKDOWN. AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CROWD GETS LOUDER WHEN A COMBO IS THROWN OR 2 BOXERS TRADE ALOT OF PUNCHES. JUST MAKE IT WHERE PUNCH ANIMATION IS NOT THE SAME IT CHANGES WHILE IN A COMBO. wHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS IF YOU THROW A LEFT HOOK DONT LET IT B THE SAME LEFT HOOK IF YOU THROW IT AGAIN AFTER A JAB MAYBE.

THE PUNCHING AND THE WAY THE BOXER ATTACKS YOU OR GOES AFTER YOU WHEN YOU ARE HURT SHOULD DIFFER. EVERY ASPECT OF A CERTAIN BOXERS GAME SHOULD BE IN FNR5. ROY WOULD PUT HIS JAB HAND OUT TO MEASURE SOMETIMES OR WHEN HE READY TO DO A LITTLE JUMP STRIKE LIKE A SNAKE AND KO YOU SHOULD BE IN THE GAME. HE SHOULD OF COURSE HAVE A PRIMARY STANCE BUT IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS THEY HAVE THEIR HANDS UP OR DOWN. WHEN ROY IS FEELING GOOD ABOUT HIMSELF DURING A FIGHT HE PUTS HIS HANDS DOWN AND TRIES TO CATCH YOU WITH HIS FAST HANDS WHILE YOU ARE MESSING UP OR JUST COME WITH A LIGHTNING COMBO KILLING YOU. SORRY TO BRAG ON ROY SO MUCH BUT HES SUCH A GREAT FIGHTER. COMBINATION PUNCHING SHOULD BE A MAJOR FOCUS.
*Get rid of those cheesy "signature punches". They look arcady and really dumb a game I take seriously, down. Signature punches should be limited to select boxers, in my opinion. Such as the Ali shuffle.
*Improve the engine. It amazes me how it was boasted how close you can get on the inside, yet there was no mini games installed for clinching. You can't even punch! If anything, I'd definitely like to see some butting of the heads drawing cuts and swelling.
*More personalities from your trainer/corner. Even a set of fictitious ones will do. But the two cookie cutter trainers that say the same thing every fight gets old quick. There should be a bigger list of personalities to choose from. Ones that can make you better or hurt your career.
*Stoppages! Thank Pacquiao for this. There should be the option for the fighters to quit/retire in the corner, trainers to throw in the towel at their own discretion (see the trainer personalities), and a fight doctor to have the fight called instead of just spilling your points into the damage meter.
I'm sure I can think of more. But it needs to be sim'd a little more. I understand you need a balance of sim and arcade to please everyone; but it can be true to the sport and still be serviceable to all. They make Facebreaker for those who can't appreciate the sweet science.

* FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4 for PSP!!!!! Graphics from round 3 are already ok, imo. Just give us the updated boxing game...more boxers, better gameplay, some mini games. I play the heck out of round 3. I need an update for the psp badly!
* HOW ABOUT COMING UP WITH A "PUNCH OUT"-ESQE ARCADE STYLE GAME MODE. I love a Fight Night as a boxing sim. But, would be fun to game mode to play in a not so serious manner.
* Mo' DLC. EA should have some new DLC for everytime there is a major boxing event. How about working in conjuction with real boxing events. Kind of like your "LIVE" modes for fifa, nba, nfl.
