I got NS when it first came out on the EA Download Manager, Now Ive look at the first 6 pages and did not see anything that was dealing with the problem I was having....
2142 and NS plus Patches = Fail.... I updated from Patch v1.4 to 1.5 and each NS server I try to join I get the loading and after it loads the 'This server only allows unmodified content'. Ive had this problem for a few years, Ive tried a few different ways to fix this...

First step uninstall BF2142, re-install it, add the full 1.5 patch then NS then 1.5 again and same thing, well Uninstalled, installed 1.25 then 1.4 then NS then the 1.4 to 1.5 and same thing, tried the 1.4 NS then 1.4 again and same thing, after the last patch I can not play the Assault Lines (my favorite game type) Now how do I get this to work and or are DICE going to make a fix patch for this?

The correct order (following a complete uninstall) is BF2142 -> 1.40 (full) -> NS -> 1.40 (full)(again) -> 1.50 (either full or incremental).

It's not clear from your post whether you did it in this order. Also, be sure to uninstall if you have tried patching before.

I have tried that, after NS and 1.4 full, the 1.5 says I have a newer version. Its really Odd

Probably something got leftover in your registry from when you tried to install the 1.5 patch before. Once you try to install a patch, you can't reinstall it, even if it didn't work right the first time. To get around this, try the following (copied from a post by Soldier4Real):

You can try and "trick" 2142 by editing your registry then attempt to reinstall the 1.50 patch. Follow the instructions below:

To go into registry and change the version, click the windows start button, then click run, type regedit, then click ok.

For 32bit Windows it's under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2142

For 64bit Windows it's under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\… Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2142

Right click on Version, select Modify, change to 1.10 and then close the registry.

Then install the 1.50 full patch.

Some how I uninstalled BF2142, Installed 2142 and NS was installed already, I patched it up and it lets me into servers for about 10 mins or less of game play then I got punkbuster, and it don't tell me why I was kicked so I updated PB and still same problem, any ideas?

See if you can get a screen shot of the messages scrolling by in the console when you get kicked to see if there is something about punkbuster there.

Or, in your Program Files/BF2142 folder, there is a "PB" folder. In that folder is a file called pbcl.log. See if there is anything in that file showing why you are getting kicked.

PB IMPORTANT: RESTRICTION: Server Communication Failure: PnkBstrB.exe heartbeats stopped

Im on Windows 7 Home pem. no fire wall, on DMZ, I play CoD MW2 fine

It seems there is no clear solution for this problem. The "heartbeats stopped" message seems to indicate that the PnkBstrB.exe service just quits for some reason. Some things to try:

Uninstall and reinstall the punkbuster services by downloading and running PBSVC.exe

Manually update punkbuster using PBSetup.exe

Be sure your firewall is allowing PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe (probably not relevant, since you don't have a firewall)

Be sure those services are allowed through any antivirus programs you have on your computer (even if you disable your a/v while playing).

Close any other programs you have running (e.g., VOIP programs/FRAPS)

Check for viruses/spyware
