Anyone who has been experiencing stuttering when being hit by another car or bumping into walls, i have finally found a fix. Without fail, any single player arce i play, 30 sec into the game it will begin to stutter and fps will drop from 60 to 30. Now finally i have found a fix;

Open nhancer and go to shift profile, tick box 20. This will also give a huge fps boost.

Only one issue- when doing this, although it fixes the stuttering it also has minor graphical glitches. Some parts of the stage will flash. Something im sure can be fixed with some troubleshooting.

Anyway give this ago and let me know if it works for you.

BTW im running gtx 295 quad sli.

Nice! I hope there's also an ATI-centric fix. With the new patch the stutter when hit issue also happens with my 4870.

Its also worth pointing out that Nvidia released a driver patch last week which covered numerous issues in Shift so if you havent already its worth updating your drivers.

Since the boxes in nHancer are not numbered I can't figure out why you just didn't tell us which function it is. Are you from Complicalia? LOL. At any rate, I counted the boxes and got to the HDR box. Checked and enabled. I am quite sure that this must be the one because all of a sudden everything is better.

BADJZ, this is the single most important thing that has made my game come around in all respect's, except the unacceptable AI of course. I knew that I was getting something I did not like. I also thought it to be some type of very subtle micro-stutter. Well I was wrong. I now think it was a compatability issue with the driver, because everything is better now. The response at the wheel is like night and day. Graphic's, FFB all of it is so much better.

I'm not sure of my reasoning, because I know little about how this stuff really work's. But I do know good from bad. This should be stickied for sure. In fact it should be more than stickied, it should be the default setting in the nVidia driver configuration.

I can't Thank You enough................Thingriz

No. In every respect the game is better. I just can't believe how much better the steering response is. In the tier 2 Laguna and Road America races I couldn't do better than 3rd in my 67' Vette. With the fix I won thwm both first time with the stutter fixed.

System specs:
OS- Win Vista Home 64bit
Processor- Intel 6850 Core2Duo 3.00GHz
Motherboard- EVGA 780i
Ram- 6GB Corsair Dominator
Video Card- EVGA 280GTX SSC 1024Mb
Power- Thermaltake 1200Watt Toughpower
Hard Drives- Western Digital Raptor's
Optical Drives- Samsung
Thermaltake H2O Box
Gateway 22" DCDi HD Monitor
Logitech G-25

I have reset nHancer to all application controlled configuration's. Worth noting is that if you have Anistrophic Sample Optimization on it will sometimes cause flashing. I alway's clamp it, but now that nVidia has found it necessary to remove our mip map setting's, they told me that Anistrophic Sample Optimization would take the place of forcing mipmaps. I don't get it but that was their explanation when I told them that they had effectively remeoved the AA in all my racing sims- GTR2, rFactor, ARCA etc. Thank God for nHancer.

Correction to above post. Yes I now can see some flashing textures. I set the driver to run supersampling and the stutter instantly returned. Will leave it alone for now as it's not terribly awful. But it is bothersome to know that it's not optimal.

Hi

Been looking for a fix for this issue, which i still got after latest patch and nvidia driver. Going to try later, but just want to confirm that it is the setting below that i change, and also do i need to leave 'nhancer' running while the game runs?. Thanks for the idea BADJZ (fingers crossed it sorts it for me)

thanks

Tried it with and without nhancer running, and sadly dosent make any difference for me - i still get the collision stutters. And as it was 60fps before anyway, (and vysnc'd at that), it obviously wont make the general framerate smoother.

Really wish this was more of a widespread problem, then maybe something would be done about it.

Joe u needd to click on the sli mode tab, then check box 20.

U can close nhancer after doing that.

Think i have the wrong end of the stick BADJZ. There is no SLI mode tab, which is presumably as i dont have an SLI setup?. Forgives if this fix is just for SLI users - didnt realise.

Has any non-sli user found a fix for this yet?. I just cant play and enjoy the game with this issue, so £20 down the drain for me, unless there is another solution.
