Urgh, rage today! The island Im on had some light snow this morning but because everyone here drives expensive cars and have no snow exp everyone was slowed to a halt today. I watched a Jaguar get pushed up a 20 degree slope because the old man driving it was too scared to give it any juice, two SUVs get pushed up at 40 degree slope out of car park (which I then took in one attempt), a stupid blonde abandon her BMW M5 on a blind corner on a hill because it was too difficult for her and an XR3i try and climb a hill staying soley in 1st gear.
I think before people pass their driving tests they should be made to take whats classed as an advanced driving course in the UK where they are taught how to drive in conditions like this.

Psst. When the snow melts, take the M5. (Assuming, of course, it's not rusted.)
I live in Arizona. Snow, what's that?
I am, of course, kidding about taking the M5. What a loss, though.

You should try living here in Canada! EVERY year you wind up shaking your head, wondering how people get their driver's licence. And it would seem whether or not these people were born here is irrelevant. No wonder provinces like Quebec have made snow tires mandatory. It should be this way country-wide, in my opinion. Canada is just one of those countries you think of when the word snow is used. Yet, every year, it winds up to be a cluster-____ . You never notice the good, competent drivers. Just watch the news for the others...

Eventually, everyone finds themselves travelling on the same path where Fate meets Destiny... So, do you know where you're going?

Aye, Im from Scotland originally and when I made it to work one of my bosses said, "Ahh, you Scottish people, its easy for you, you know how to drive in snow!". It took all my will power not to say, "No, I just have a brain and some common sense".

We just got some snow here in ILL. this morning. Around here not only do we have the slow cautious
drivers ,there are drivers that think because they're in 4WD 's or AWD vehicles they don't have to worry about
snow & ice. And they drive like there's nothing to worry about. Funny thing is they're the one's you always see in ditch's.
That's one cool thing about racing games. You get to drive some of the coolest cars in the world,
on some of the best roads, tracks ,city streets & hwy's. And you never have to stand outside in the
frigid weather cleaning ice & snow off of your windshield.

First let's start with my favorite thing to say when it snows outside.
"OMG! It's snowed six inches in Toronto! Call in the army!"
With that said. The only time I ever had trouble getting out of the parking lot is when I foolishly decided to park at the back. We have a 50 degree hill in the middle of the parking lot separating it into two levels. And you have about 45 feet to get up a 20 foot hill, so if the plow hasn't come through yet you're pretty much trying to climb a giant hill of ice. (We get lots of thaws.)
What I always find funny is all the people who take half an hour to clean their cars off and then forget to uncover their lights and roof.

Wow... that is an epic fail. a 20 dagree slope?!? with no snow on the ground?!? that is just sad. where I live (in the snow belt, by the great lakes) we somtimes get over a foot of snow. in one day! somtimes, when we get two feet, I think people forget how to drive. It is like they have never drove in there life.

Put chains on your rear tires and carry a tow chain for when you get off the road anyway. Drive slow, but take a run at the icy hills. Going down an icy slope, put the car out of gear and use the handbrake, proceeding very slowly. Of course, you have studded snow tires all 'round as well.
Make sure your pantry is very well stocked before the snow season, so you can lay low at home for a couple of weeks or longer when it gets downright disgusting.
Right now here in SE Alaska, it's raining. Snow and ice are almost all gone. I'm driving around at normal speeds in my RWD minivan. I love Spring in January!
Frank
P.S. And anyone who drives their nice car in freezing conditions probably deserves what he/she gets.
