the Mendez vs Vasquez fight was a perfect example of how a guy tht gets a take down and stays on top can win the fight just based on tht even when someone on the bottom is striking cleanly and more affectively, also controlling the opponent.
in ju-jitsu competition full guard and half guard, are neutral positions back mount, mount, side mount, crucifix and top sprawl, or back side top are dominant positions and this all makes perfect sense but MMA has not adapted, a fighter gets one more take down then the opponent then they win the round? tht makes no sense to me especially when the fighters do nothing with it or the other fighter gets up within 20 sec's.
Judges in mma should consider guard half guard and north south neutral positions the rest on the ground dominant positions. Take downs, knock downs, and reversals clinching or on the ground should all be equal when being scored the same way, the values of take downs of course should be brought down a lot , also rubber guard should show control like a dominant position shows

Now some of u may not like this because u like to see a straight up street fight or brawl but stomps, kicks, knees, and elbows, make it look like a street fight also cause way to much damage, cut fights causing the fights to be stopped paused and get in the way which is really not needed at all, they also give the opponent on top an unfair weapon to use and like in a street fight can cause death and serious injury,

i care about mma fighters a lot there my heroes and i don't want this sport to be unfair for them and me sense i want to compete when i get older and also don't want there careers to get cut short or have longer recovery periods be cause they get damaged if u care about the fighters and like this sport ud probably see it this way if u want to see a brawl watch pro wrestling. but i think on the only position on the ground u should be able to throw elbows is from a bottom position because the don't cause cuts and punches don't get a lot of power from the bottom and the elbows are pretty much one of the only strikes they can throw at times and don't cause a huge amount of damage as appose to a person being able to throw all there body weight int a person on the person below, standing and in the clinch knees and elbows are fine

so give ur opinions i realize some people may say tht the no elbows, knees, stomps or kicks on the ground is stupid but its really unfair IMO

to me takedowns should score points but sitting on him doing nothing shouldnt. takedowns even if you dont do anything afterward still showed you out power your opponent and put him on the ground which is impressive. rule set wise i think the UFC got it right. meybe knees to the head on the ground but no kicks or stomps those just look to brutal and would make the sport look bad.

Stomps n Soccer Kicks Crew

do not use stats to defend your argument about individual players football is a team sport where every players stats are dependent on his teamates.

I agree with what BJ Penn said a few months back. Points for doing damage with strikes and submission attempts.

Knees to the head of a grounded opponent (Or at least an opponent in a three point position should be in. Nothing more annoying than a guy like Kos kneeling in front of his opponent, hugging his buns. Elbows have the potential to cause a LOT of cuts so maybe drop them altogether.

Then in BJ's opinion, Frankie Edgar should have never been given either victory over him because he didn't really do any damage. He just picked him apart with jabs mostly (thats BJ's take anyways).

There are many flaws with what BJ said. BJ only said what he did because he's a sore *ss when it comes to losing.

And if fighters don't like wrestler's laying on them and making sweet love to them for 3-5 rounds, do what Chuck Liddell did and per-fect TDD.

Sick of these fighters and fans crying about this crap. Learn to be well rounded, or guys like GSP will own this sport for as long as they want.
