Has anyone come up with a formula or game plan on how to make trades go through? It seems rediculous that you have to offer the computer the farm before they will even think to budge. Obviously i understand that the trades need to give the other team something but the way this game denies trades that make sense for both teams and asks repetatively for even more is retarded. I would never make a bid for an Ovechkin ranked player without offering back another superstar along with atleast another above average player and a 1st rounder but they would want that plus my entire front line and starting goalie.. COME ON!

Check out my thread
http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/368210.page#3518639
They need to fix trade frequency first I mean right now you cant go a week in Be a Gm Mode without having like 20 trades its just stupid.

I am I the only one who has found trading to be very easy??? Becides, why would the Caps trade Ovey, they never would and they shouldn't in the game. Be realistic!
Make trades for upcoming superstars, not current ones! If you were a GM in real life would you trade Crosby or Ovey, NO...
You need to have a good mix of young talent that the other GM has a need for, offense / defense / alth... ect add a 2nd round or first and get the deal done!

That was an example my friend, not an actual trade attempt. If i wanted Ovechkin i would use Washington. You really didnt help but thanks for your attempt.

Sorry if it appeared that I was "calling you out" that wasn't my intention... I was trying to relay to the game itself and not your specific trade attempt.
I should have been much more clear. Sorry again

I can see where you would want to turn down the amount of trades, I do, but it doesn't matter to a computer if they trade ovi or crosby so that would be stupid. I dont play with either on my team but just because it is just a game doesn't mean that there should be a no trade contracts like real life.

i argee i hate the GM cpu trades. I saw Ovie get trade to like NYI for 1st pick and Weight. And Syd the Kid to PHX for Doan and Montana(G). They need to change that.

I see your point,Though I'm the odd one out here. I Can't go a few games without 3-5 Free Agent signings but not many trades.
Also the goalie's name is Montoya, not Montana.

No need for trades when you can trade any 18 year old prospect drafted in round 5 for 1st rounders next year. Just about any team will take Stefan Giliati from Toronto for a 1st round pick to start the Be a GM mode. Any young player on a two way contract can be traded for 1st rounders in the offseason or within the first week of the season.

One thing I've noticed is that the trade values fluctuate during the season, if you want a specific player, just check on him every few weeks, and trade for him when his value bar dips..
I've grabbed Spezza for cheap a few times, along with Malkin, Cody Franson, Ryan Getzlaf, Nicklas Backstrom, etc..
I got Backstrom in his expiry year for Ponikarovski, and some filler. I think I took a big salary vet in the deal too, but still a raping for the Leafs.

You really need to look at the CPU team's needs/wants. You can offer a superstar for a superstar which may make sense to you, however if that team is lacking defense lets say and you're offering a star forward that has low defensive stats, they often won't want to take him.

I remember I once traded Maxime Fortunus for a 4th rounder...great deal for me yet the owner felt we got ripped off and the cpu GM (for Pittsburgh) claimed that fans would be dancing in the streets about the trade. lol
Yet I figured out they needed D, allowing me to essentially rip them off. If you offer what your scout has figured out they need, then they'll pull the trigger easier.

On Hard GM mode setting I traded Alex Ponikarovsky and Viktor Stalberg for John Tvares and Doug Weight. I also traded 8 minor leaguers for 8 1st round picks....doesn't sound very hard to me.

I find it is way to easy to trade in be a gm mode. Way to easy. that and the computer makes way to many stupid trades like evryone says. I have to play with cpu trades off or else the game gets so unrealistic!

I don't really have a problem with trades being hard to pull off. However, I find it completely unrealistic and annoying that other team's GM's get really upset about trade offers, thus ruining your relationship with them. Since they don't make counter offers, or even offer a list of players that they would consider, you're left playing a guessing game. All it takes is 2 failed trade attempts to develop a poor report with another GM. Stupid. Throw me a freakin bone here.
