Unless you've been living under a rock and not in the fast lane, then you've probably heard by now that Ferrari is returning to Need for Speed as downloadable content available only for Xbox 360. Feel free to voice all of you're questions, comments, concerns and complaints about the absence of the new DLC in this thread.

iluvkasumi mentioned more then one version of DLC, could that possibly mean that there will be 3 different exclusive versions for a certain system?

More importantly, WHY would the biggest DLC made for a Need for Speed game be only for one system?

PS3 DS3 Controller....

I am extremely dissapointed in NFS for this. It is a worse mistake than Undercover.

I am absolutely outraged.

I have been hanging on to the NFS series since it's introduction in 1994 and had held hope that a game such as Shift would eventually make a return to the series once the ricer culture subsided. I was thrilled with the game to say the least. It is a massive, positive departure from the horrific crap that Black Box was serving us and a true step back to the NFS series of old (ending with Porsche Unleashed).

When I first heard that Ferrari was making a gallant return to the series, I was ecstatic to say the least. It has been nearly a decade since Ferrari dawned a prancing pony in an NFS game. It is absurd, unfathomable and simply a * poor business decision to ignore the PC and PS3 platforms where this DLC is concerned.

PC racing fans in particular have almost no where to turn these days to get a true racing fix. We have enough exclusives for the consoles. Shift was initially released on all three platforms, the DLC content should be made available to all of those who purchased the game, regardless of platform choice. There is a fantastic opportunity to capitalize on expanding the NFS series into a true heavyweight among racing titles and who better than to lead the new front than the an auto maker master as renowned as Ferrari.

Limiting the scope to an exclusive market, alienates many fans of the series and speaks volumes about how serious EA is with regards to being a true contender for the podium among the grand racers.

I truely do hope the Ferrari content makes its way to the other platforms. It is nothing more than sheer disappointment and anger that we PC and PS3 owners feel being denied additional content for titles that we purchase.

To release a game on 3 platforms and and then support only 1 of them with additional content is ridiculous. You have shunned a massive market with this call. The return of Ferrari to Xbox owners alone will not go unnoticed by the racing community and gamers will recall this political maneuver when deciding to purchase future EA games that are presumably supported on all platforms.

Phenomenally disappointed.

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/62280 are reporting that the DLC is live for 360 today and comes to the other platforms feb 16. I just listened to the circleje^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hpodcast which mentions again that it's only on 360 and coming there feb 16. You should send them a note to correct that or confirm

EA's media outlet, dubbed the "Extranet" lists the release for Xbox360 only and to be released on February 16th, 2010. As for ILoveKasumin4Sud? He was guesstimating, otherwise known as prognosticating. Something that people like to do when bored and lacking information. There is NO march DLC in the works right now.

As for Ferrari missing from PS3 and PC? Well, I imagine that I'd eventually download it for PS3 if it was available but not after bugging EA's community managers as to why they ignored Matech's announcement that they will be running the Ford GT in the Le Mans GT1 class. And why they haven't announced a "Works" version of the Ford GT for the game as a result. After all, you really only need to bump up the power and acceleration to the DBR9 stats with maybe some improvement in braking.

But I digress...

I'm not missing Ferrari. I didn't like 'em in GT5 and I'm not sure that I'll like 'em in Shift. But, hey, all the power to those with Xbox's and a strong desire to break in the prancing pony.

So I've given my personal opinion of what I think about Ferrari and it's latest DLC for Shift. It's not popular. I'm aware of that. But let's look to the other side of this fence.

None of us are aware of what is going on behind the scenes. All we know is that before now there was a big schism between EA and Ferrari.

Did Microsoft grease the wheels and thus get some exclusivity? Who knows.

Did Ferrari forge a deal with Polyphony Digital that prevented it ending up on PS3's? Who knows.

Did Ferrari say, "We've seen some mods on the PC version of Shift, we're not so hot about them so don't include us on PC." Who knows.

Did EA decide not to release, or even bother announcing release, until certain issues are resolved on the PS3 and PC? Who knows.

Frankly, jumping up and down and screaming bloody murder at EA may be your first instinct. But remember that we don't know what happened behind the wheel of this reforged alliance. All we do know is that the future is looking brighter and EA may see it's slightly tarnished reputation marginally polished.

EA should at least reveal information about the next downloadable content for PS3/PC instead of leaving us in the dark.

I'm getting sick of all this Xbox 360 exclusivity. No Porsche in Gran Turismo 5. No Outrun Arcade for US PS3s. Late DLC for Gran Theft Auto PS3/PC. Come on SMS and EA!

Check the comments, one by NFSKirk. "The Ferrari Racing Series is an exclusive with Xbox 360; however, we've got some great content for PS3 and 360 coming in March." - Not sure if he's a reliable source, but he has his own blog on the main Blog News page... I hope he means "PS3 and PC," not "PS3 and Xbox"...

And why not announce this content now to prevent all the rage headed their way!

NFSKirk is an employee and thus an official source. And just to back him up: Yes. There is more coming to your way this March.

Thanks EATorque, you've been busy today! One more quick question, did he actually mean "PS3 and PC" or "PS3 and Xbox?" I'm hoping us pc gamers haven't been left out

Took a look at both the blog, blog comments, news & announcements here in the forum, forum comments in this thread, and comments for the podcast and I haven't found anything from NFS Kirk stating that there'll be DLC for PC & PS3 come March. In fact I haven't seen anything from NFS Kirk.

So while Kirk is a member of EA and I agree what he says is certainly stronger than EA's media post site or I. I'm going to stick with the theory that there's nothing for March on the board as of yet.

Note: The media site does note something in the pipeline for the 16th of February, 2010 for Shift. Just not what it is.

Unless EA has finally managed to figure out reliable Global charging method for PC players, we may not see any priced DLC for PC version in Europe. I was so bummed, when I could not buy the extra content from Finland for the past few games. However, you can get those now(that the games are outdated) from EA Store, so there may be hope after all.

Anyway, this Ferrari deal is really sweet. It almost makes me wanna buy Xbox 360, which probably was Microsoft's intention when they coughed up the cash for the licensing fees. <-- That there is a purely fictional assumption which bares no resemblance to the reality and it also is my personal opinion which has nothing to do with EA's official stand on this matter. What I'm trying to say, that no one said MS paid for the Ferrari license, I just personally think that might explain the exclusiveness.

@Ubersil - Check the link again, it was one of the first five posts. And above your post EATorque confirmed NFSKirk said "content for PS3 and 360," hence why I asked if he actually meant ps3 & pc, considering 360 content is already on the way and if not it looks like us pc users are missing out even in the March dlc
