So yeah, normally I love watching Olympic Hockey... a bunch of great players who don't play together normally getting together and competing...great stuff.... but as all HOCKEY FANS know the wings have had a big struggle with PLAYER HEALTH this year... and as such I would rather not see ANY REDWING PLAYERS play in the olympics. I would choose to 'let canada win' by removing all redwings players from the olympic rosters.... particularly sweden as that seems to be the most popular Redwing Olympic Team...

I would rather see Holmstrom & Franzen as well as the HEALTHY players like Lidstrom, etc sit and WATCH the Olympics while resting up for a playoff position end of season run!

Do you realise how selfish that is?

You actually care more about the playoffs than about the last big pro hockey tournament in the world ?

It's never gonna happen again at this level (many believe so even if it's never been confirmed and even if Ovechkin says he won't miss Russia's games in 2014, bless him), so I think you might need to check your head and forget about the Wings ... and cheer for your USA !

I can understand you POV, puck, but I have to disagree. I would have to imagine that the only thing greater than being paid to play the sport one loves to play is having the honor to represent one's country in the Olympics. As a fellow wings fan, I share your pain. It's quite possible the only reason the team isn't in a playoff spot is due to injuries. And I would love to see Homer and Kronner avoid further injury at the Olympics, but I can't blame them for going.

I believe Franzen was left off the Swedish team due to the belief that he would not be 100% recovered from his injury in time for The Games. So unless Homer is too hurt to play in the games you do not have to fear Mule re-injuring himself at The Games.

Last olympics the Canucks top 2 defenceman came back injured, and the Canucks just missed the playoffs (possibly as a result of), yet I wouldnt want to miss the chance to see hockey played at the Olympic level.

Man, I can see where you are coming from, Puck. The Wings have had a rough, injury riddled year. I know that I am nervous being a Blackhawk fan, that 1 out of the 7 picked to represent their Countries is gonna come back injured... But, Dueces is correct. This is the LAST Olympics that will have this Caliber of player. Embrace it! Because you'll never see it again!

GO USA!

We'll see.

Alexander Medvedev has been on good will missions lately, and from what I understand he is doing everything in his power to get a transfer agreement between the NHL & KHL. If that can be figured out in the next 3 years then we may see professionals in Sochi 2014.

The Russians really want this.

Nothing about hockey here, but do you really have to capitalize every other word?

I don't know about you but when I read * LIKE THIS, I hear a LOUD SHOUTING VOICE IN MY HEAD.

I'm gonna be one of those RABID fans for CANADA when the tournament officially kicks off against NORWAY ... if it's anything below 10-1 for Canada I might give up all hope ... MIGHT

The Olympics are great to watch but not as important to me as the wings. I also do not simply root for USA. I was born in the US yes, but I am also Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czechoslovakian as far as 'hockey' nationalitities go... I think Finland used to be in the olympics back when I was about 10yrs old...(20+yrs ago) but I may be wrong? Anyway, I tend to be partial to the Swedes & USA mostly.... regardless I usually consider Canada the big dog (not russia) and prefer to see any of my nationalities take them out!!!

And yes FRANZEN is my biggest concern....

Kronwall is another concern...he is out right now and he tends to get injured a lot...his physical style probably plays a role in that!
