Found this on the Undisputed Online forums. Some dude over there went to the UFC expo and spoke to Mayhem about the game. I will copy the interesting stuff.
(This is about EA MMA)
i went the ufc gym expo today, got into V.I.P. and lounged one on one,had a sandwich and a 30 minute convo with Jason Miller. Real nice guy, we talked about his last fight and then he told me about EA MMA.
Not to much info to share, but he told me the L1 button is the kick modifier and it makes it super easy to create combos with it (most of you already know this). I asked about the ground game, and he told me it is super fluid. i couldnt quite understand how the ground game works, but from what i understood is that it deals with button pressing and timing. I wish i would have gotten more info on it tho to be honest.
Funny thing is, he admitted to me that he played UFC 2009 and that he thinks EA MMA is a much better game, and resembles a lot of Fight Night in terms of fluidity. He told me that EA better "market the **** out of this game" because UFC has the advantage of having the brand name.
All in all this made me extremely excited for the game. i've been starving for a long time for some info and it's only fair to share the same info with you guys.
Lastly he told me that originally everytime you got stunned in the game you would get knocked down, and he personally had EA change that so that if you get stunned you have the option to spring for a double leg takedown or clinch...the only thing is that when you try a takedown or clinch when you get stunned it is less effective and looks sloppy compared to when you would go for the takedown when you havent been caught. This doesnt mean you cant get knocked down, but you can stumble back into the fence and sometimes that will help you get your footing back.
All in all the expo was fun. I got to meet dana, chuck, brandon vera, koscheck, Fitch, mike swick, and anthony rumble johnson. Pretty good saturday. and for those who dont believe me, i do have pictures if that will help make you a believer, if not though im sorry but the info is legit.
Cant wait for this game. And UFC 2010 also.
He did tell me that you do use the right stick on the ground, he just didn't explain how. When he was telling me about it he said he was using a button press when he saw someone trying to pass his gaurd.
Another quick bit..he did confirm bobbing and weaving. forgot to mention that earlier. Ill post the pictures up in a sec.
A couple of interesting points there. Maybe certain things had already been said before but I did not recall hearing about a timing based ground system. Also it sounds like you hit a button when your opponent is trying a transition.

Oh wait, this is about EA MMA? Well that seems a little strange to me. Kind of like the wwe countering system, which is a little lame.

Good that you mentioned that, totally forgot about it.
You dont like it? I think it would work pretty good. It is either holding a blocking button constantly like you do in Undisputed, or this. I havent played a WWE game for like 10 years so I have no idea how it works over there. Sounds good to me tbh.
(Also sounds a little like Pride FC on the Ps2. I love that game, so if they go that way.. I'd like that)

It just seems a little lazy too me, because it means that we won't be in control at all times if we're waiting on a button press to stop someone transitioning. I was hoping we'd have like a counter transition in a way, where we transition to stop the other person transitioning, then chain together transitions to escape the situation if that makes sense. Like with hip escapes from mount, for example. They transition to full mount, we transition to keep them in mount down, then see a gap and get out of it if that makes sense. I suppose it might work, but it's hard to get a good grasp of what's going on from just that. Hopefully EA will reveal a bit more about it soon.

Well this one was really by accident .
I was checking what the guys on the UOC forums had to say and then I found some dude whom posted this. He posted pics with Mayhem also so I knew it was valid.
Anyway I like the thing. Obviously as Afrokiwi91 said it could have some more depth but who knows, maybe it does.
This kind of style worked pretty good with Pride FC however you cant call it realistic at all in that game, but maybe they have added more depth to it. After all theres quite a couple of years between these games.

Thanks for the post Yari. i had a little trouble refinding it though cause of the title you named it. But im glad you made this thread though because i don't think too many people have read this since people are unsure of how being rocked in EA MMA works. You and RearNakedpoke, & a few others seem to always find some of the best info.
