Hello, I am trying to play this game and I am having some serious problems. I have a decent computer (i7, 6gb ddr3, and a geforce 250m 1gb overclocked) and the game is having massive render problems.

As I am playing the game constantly flickers black or other random colors, and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. I am including some screen shots hoping that you guys can point me in the right direction.

so here is an example of the full screen effect

and here is an example of a vfx issue

this is making the game completely useless for me. it slows down the FPS and i cant see anybody to shoot them! please, any help would be awesome.

just another note. if you look at the plane in the first screen shot, it has black lines going through it. this seems to be another issue i am fighting.

to sum up: the game not rendering properly and glitching constantly, the vfx are freaking out, and random black lines and incorrect interlacing on things like the bushes are all things im dealing with. help would be soooo cool. if you need any additional information from me please feel free to ask.

Have you HBAO On? If yes turn it off and then check the game.

HBAO is turned off at the moment. I am assuming that that stands for ambient occlusion. Why they think they can render AO in realtime is beyond me, but that is besides the fact.

toggling the HBAO on and off has no affect on any of the 3 problems i am having.

looks trippy, lol. as for reporting problems, your in the right place. however i think the developers at DICE pay more attention to the U.K forums.

Update your video drivers to the latest version and this problem likely vanish ... it did for me.

You've obviously neglected your drivers. Update often.

believe it or not we are all wrong! my drivers were up to date and my gpu is stable (cut me some slack). For some reason my setup does not like running this game with direct x 10 or 11. changing the dxVersion settings in my config file from 'auto' to '9' fixed all of the problems listed above. everything works great now! now we know how to fix it if any one else has this problem.

sure. close BF:BC2
open your BC2 config file with a text editor(which can be found in my documents bc2 etc)
towards the bottom of this file you will see something like 'dxVersion = auto'
change the 'auto' to '9'
the line should now read something like 'dxVersion = 9'
save the text file and close it
open up BC2 and kick *!

on a side note, EA please look into this. there is no reason I should have to hack my config file and use an older version of direct x to play this game. it does not make sense

Changing the config file for Directx from Auto to 9 did the trick! This is ridiculous. It was difficult to find this solution on the forum. EA should patch this issue ASAP.
