I've been a Need for Speed fan right from the get go, and have almost every title. I really had a lot of fun playing both Underground and Underground 2. There were numerous good points in both those games, which have been explained to death in multiple threads. If they could keep the spirit of the game going in the same direction as the first two, it would be another big successful hit!
I threw my vote in for this one, but honestly, I don't want NFS to go exclusively down that road. If they made it however, I would definitely pick up a copy Underground 3! Hope it happens...
Have a good one!!!

Eventually, everyone finds themselves travelling on the same path where Fate meets Destiny... So, do you know where you're going?
PS3 \ DS3 controller when playing Shift, Hot Pursuit (2010) and Shift 2 Unleashed. PC player for most other NFS games. |

oh so very true i'm still endorsing my idea for NFS Dust so if EA went exclusivly to Underground i'd kinda get kicked off to the side.

Hi my name is Hernani Silva i live in Portugal, im a big fan of need for speed since it came out for Pc and Sega Saturn….
In my opinion the best games were need for speed undercover 1 and 2, for me and a lot of people that I know…. (forums you tube reviews…)
Most wanted was good to but I think that yellow graphics or fog or whatever that is ruined the games, hopefully in need for speed shift that doesn’t exist anymore, anyway need for speed shouldn’t be only tracks, for that there is grid and grand turismo that is by far the best game in tracks of all time ….
Lets all ask EA Games if they can unify all the games they did of need for speed but maintain the spirit of underground, then we will all have a really nice game. =)
I know that at the beginning the story of need for speed wasn’t street, tuning up, etc, but im sure this will be for the best, im tired of seeing the games of need for speed going lower and lower and lower just read the reviews and you know its true….
So remember UNDERGROUND SPIRIT with shift graphics. =)
I don’t know what team made need for speed undergrond but I still love it still play it, not even most wanted or carbon was so lovely like undercground…
Thank You ALL
Hernani Silva

The Need For Speed Underground Series was great for that Time Era as you mostly know EA and NFS keeps up with the current car cultures i think underground was created off the whole Fast and Furious Generation back when everyone had fart cans on a honda and suped up nos tanks and heavy neon and everyone's car was dropped or slammed for low performance.
Now a days its all about glamour and style of the car. banging paint jobs, car competitions. As you know that whole race on some back road and hopefully wont hit anything era is gone everyone got scared after the crackdown of street racing a few years back (2001-2002) give or take some change and impounded every rice rocket they could find and or fine the parents of the young adult or teen who was driving that car wrong and endangering traffic or pedestrians.

For sure i loved it as well but...Past is past and now its about the future. Sure they could always bring back a couple cars and maps into newer games you might have played on underground but i do not think they will make another underground series to be honest with you.

Yeah, I would love a U3. Right now, I'm only thinking of that as Undercover. Also, seeing Bayview in NFS World would also be nice...

Sorry, we don't need anymore teens on the road thinking they can beat V8's with their bone stock Hondas with a fart can just because they saw it in a game or movie.

ok...nfs underground 1 was eh more or less, nfsu2 however, was the *... i agree to a point about the times changing, however people may hate me for this, but id still take a brand new jaguar xk coupe, put black 20" hre c20's on it, then drop it about an inch or two... i dont know why its such a problem to have a love for sick lookin rides, though some cars u just dont touch thier looks(koenigsegg, mclaren, maserati, ect) shift has set a good standard, in my opinion, for realism and still maintaining a fun racing environment... for instance, you cant mod any tier 4 cars, BECAUSE THIER STREET LEAGAL RACE CARS, more or less... but you can paint them or change out rims(20" Black BBS LM's look pretty sick on the lexus lf-a...) however, any other tier, you can mod the * out of them... the only complaint ive had with the past 2 nfs games, is thier ride height isnt visually reflected... i used to play pro street for hours, just modding and slamming cars, bc they look absolutly amazing... and they generally drove that way too, depending on the car.... so underground was a thing of the past. true. but we do need the tuner spirit back in the games... it was the main fun in the nfs series... i hope nfs world reflects this spirit...
PS: a bone stock honda with a "fart can" can take out most American v8 cars on most technical circuits... Power is a wonderful thing in a car, but when it has barely no handling, (hence most American v8 powered cars) its just gonna be wasted... Sorry... ; )

Modifying a car is such a personal thing. You'll always have haters out there. To each their own.

Correction, a well prepped Honda can take out some American V8 cars on 'certain' technical circuits. Unless your talking about older muscle cars which handle like boats, many modern American V8s handle very well, the new Mustang and C6 Vette for example. Hondas are momentum cars, they rely on handling rather than brute power, so obviously they would be right at home on tight circuits and autocross courses. But on tracks with multiple straightaways, they are screwed.
Then again I was referring to teens with newly acquired licenses thinking they can beat anything at the mall parking lot.

HELL NO!
the NFSU series was the NADIR of the franchise, and it has taken until SHIFT for it to begin to recover (but until both free roam and ANY AND ALL forms of "rice" tuning are DROPPED (bodykits, wings, big rims, fart cans, nawz, ETC, i will not consider the game "healed", only complicated, Professional Algorythm based Formula one style "paramater" tuning on STOCK parts is acceptable, to sort the true engineers from the idiot street kids with the 3rd grade education)
the background asthetic was depressing. if i want graffiti and corruption , ill go to Huddersfeild, not play a game,. the car list was uninspiring to say the least, pimped out little mazda 2's with fart cans, again, if i want to see that ill go to the car park at the local buger bar. the music was evil, gangsta rap crap, when will the governments ban that stuff?. it promotes terrorism for gods sake.
finally, the games gave a very undesirable message, "gangs are cool". WRONG!, Many gangs have been prooved to be liked to groups such as the Provisional IRA, Baader Meinhoff, and the infamous Al Quaida. yes, thats right, terrorists . gangs are not cool, they are little more than low rent cannon fodder for the enemies of the free world. end of discussion.
as for the gameplay, good god, dont remind me!, the tracks were pure dullsville, there were no hairpins or tricky corners, american cities don't seem to have any of them, the cars, even fully tuned, often failed to top 130MPH, and the handling was as clumsy as hell, i mean since when has the mazda mx-5 UNDERSTEERD! like a diesel toyota?, its one of the nimblest little sports cars out. there was no challenge from the courses or the AI, basically, it was as boring as it was repulsive.
Underground needs to stay were it is, in a shallow umarked grave in some irradiated ukranian wasteland just outside of chernobyl (the only place ON EARTH toxic enough to cover up the effects of this "game"), if any series needs reviving, its the "classic" franchise. not the woefull NFS Underground, wich, in one move, Killed the franchises previously excellent reputation in europe.

While people continue to love tuned and customized cars EA will continue to make ricer games. sorry. if it wasn't for these games EA would go bankrupt then the government would have to bail them out with taxpayers money. then we would have a say in everything they do because we partially own them.
That's why it's such a good idea to team Dust and Soul. the great classic simulation of the old NFS in one game and the customizing greatness of the new NFS in another.
You know?
