"Word out of South Florida is that Berry is in impeccable shape for next week's NFL Combine and recently was electronically clocked at 4.31 in the 40-yard dash. Never one to back down from a challenge, don't be surprised if Berry doesn't greatly enhance his stock next week in Indianapolis through both his workouts and interviews with teams. "

I can't wait until he goes in there and blows it up.

I'm still amazed at people who thought Taylor Mays was better than Berry. He's already dropped to 3rd and 4th on Kiper/McShay draft boards.

NFL combine does not translate to: Best football player.. you know that NOV, you're too smart not to. I like both guys and would be happy if the BEARS had either one of them.. but count me among the people that thought, and still think Mays is a special player.. not saying that Berry isn't, but I like Mays too..

i highly doubt that Taylor Mays drops past the 2nd. I dont believe every word that Kiper and McShay say. Mays is a phenomenal athlete, he just doesnt have quite the natural instincts to play safety like Berry. If people are dumb enough to draft Tebow possibly in the 2nd round as a "project", then i dont see why Mays cant go late 1st or 2nd round as a "project" linebacker. the guy is certainly big enough at 6'3 235. he would come into the league as one of the fastest linebackers period.

Mays can defend against the run like no other...

I didn't mean 3rd or 4th round. Sorry, forgot to put an S there. I meant 3rd or 4th safety taken behind Earl Thomas and some other dude.

I agree that Taylor Mays is talented and was GREAT at USC, but I think he hurt himself this season. He didn't play well when he wasn't surrounded by all of that 1st round talent in front of him. He'll still lay the wood and I'd take him on the Titans, but Eric Berry is just all world.

He's the best safety to come out since Sean Taylor and he'll be much better than Taylor was. Which is saying a lot.

I'll even be homer enough to say that assuming he stays healthy, Eric Berry will be an NFL Hall of Famer in 20 years.

He's that good. His work ethic is that good. His talent is that good. He's not finished getting better by any stretch of the imagination. He can still play cornerback if he wanted to. He can gain another 20 pounds and create a whole new breed of Safety with his speed and size.

Best Tennessee player to come out since Peyton Manning.

Yeah he may slip to a 4.4. if he were to gain 20lbs. If Darrell Green can run a 4.43 at 50 years old anything is possible.
