I wanted to make this a Corvette vs. Viper thread to go with the recent Mustang vs. Camaro and other threads. But frankly with Viper getting a rework that has yet any leaked information. You can't really do it. Not to mention Viper hasn't been remarked upon in this issue in any manner shape or form. I suppose I could ask who thought which company would do a better job making a new pretty body but if forced to choose between Fiat and GM, I think we'd all point towards Fiat.

But to the point.

Corvette is looking abroad to make a better looking car. It turns out that the Corvette sold 48% less in 2009 than it did in 2008. And frankly it's not surprising. Corvette's biggest buyer is Cadillac owners who are currently going through a midlife crisis and want something a little more racy.

So the question is why is it older people are the ones buying Corvette? Well, Corvette hasn't particularly changed in 26 years. It still looks the same, only bigger. And frankly it's not like the young crowd sees Stingray's driving around everyday and think to themselves..."I want part of that heritage." Instead we're seeing something about as sexy as a door wedge and thinking to ourselves. I'd rather have a Ferrari, 'cause Ferrari is as reliable now a days as the next guy and is made out of better parts. And more comfortable of a ride. And gets better fuel mileage. And looks sexier.

Frankly, a return to the Stingray body might bring me over to the Corvette camp. And can only be a good thing. As long as they start using better quality parts.

here is the thing. no matter what they do dodge is never gonna win over vette fans. vipers are just way too much "go" and not enough "stop" or "turn around". do you know what i mean?

and for the corvette desighn i say make the head lights bigger (like the C6) either that or make them flip up like on the old stink rays. then sculpt the front of the fenders back into the bumper and same with the rear bumper. make the rear window split a little thinner (by maybe 2"). next make the hood cowl a little wider. put a splitter in the fender vents(like the new ZR1). i love the interior just maybe raise the shifter head about 3".move the exhaust tips to the bottom of the bumper. and do somthing with the grill. maybe make it matte black so it isn't seen as well at least cus it just bugs me out.
then to increase sales first thing you do is add it to the corvette racing team to compete in the Le Mans, and GT1 challenges.

Well we don't really know what Fiat is going to do with the next Viper. I feel like their goal is to destroy the Corvette in every way. For all we know it could end up being a completely different class.

You should also keep in mind that the ACR is still over 15 seconds faster than the ZR1 on Nürburgring.

Let's put a wing on the ZR1 big enough for chewbacka to surf on and strip out the interior ... then we'll compare the ACR to the ZR1.

Hey now. We all do agree that it'd be nice if the next Corvette looked more like the old Stingrays (Stinkray is just insulting) and there's alot more to aerodynamics than hanging a big wing off of your bum.
