For all those that think EA isn't listening or working to fix any major bugs, you are wrong. I just got off a great call with Ryan from their Customer Service team and not only was it one of the best customer support experiences I've ever had with anything computer-related, but I learned a lot about some of the pressing issues and the status of them. Read on for details...

Leadership Board/Stats Not Saving Bug

This is the one where you'll play for a while and get XP and unlocks and stuff, and for some reason it doesn't show in your stats or unlocks section when you exit the server. I freaked out because the first night I stayed up till 4:30 playing on one server only to have it boot me and then not have my stats save. Well WORRY NOT! It seems that if you experienced this issue, everything posted to the EA server, however a bug is causing their servers to not report it back to the client correctly which prevents you from seeing the stats or using the unlocks in those situations. However they are working on a fix that will hopefully be out in a week or two and anybody who experienced this should have all the "lost" XP added back to their accounts, which means in my instance I'll get about 4 ranks worth of XP back which should give me some nice unlocks. So the data is there, they're just fixing the bug that is preventing the Client from recognizing it.

Veteran Unlocks

For those having issues getting your games to register on the Veteran site, just give them a call and they can fix it all. I didn't even need to give him my codes from the games or anything, he just applied it to my account and the M1 was unlocked. They are in the process of completely moving this site to a different one which is why many of us are having issues getting our gets to register in it (including code already in use errors). Unfortunately, there is still a bug being fixed where you cannot actually USE the m1 in game because it doesn't show up in your weapon selections. This should be fixed in a couple weeks (its lower priority).

Server Connection Issues
They are apparently adding some more servers which should help with this "biggest of issues" and also significantly speed up the server browser which is currently ridiculously slow. I believe he said they were installing those today so this should hopefully be working in the next 24hrs or so.

Saitek Joystick Spinning Bug
So if you use the Saitek joysticks (I have a Cyborg X) you may have noticed that having it plugged in causes your guy to just sit there and spin, requiring you to not have the joystick plugged in to play the game. I haven't had a chance to test this suggested fix yet but he says to try to start the game without it plugged in, and then once its started plug it in. Not sure if that will work but worth a test. Apparently since this is such a popular hardware brand for the game and this is a big issue with it, they will release a fix in the near future (probably 1-2 weeks) that addresses it.

Push to talk/mic not working
I have a standard USB headset that works fine in other games and does not work in this one. Apparently it is a known issue as well and they are working on a fix for it. So for all you people thinking that nobody is talking in the games, it might just be because of this bug.

Finally, I just want to say that for everybody whining about how they aren't responding to every forum post and aren't working on things, etc. Chill. They ARE reading this, the devs are DEFINITELY taking things into consideration, but they aren't always able to communicate that to us due to company policies and just the nature of how software development works. Often times with bug fixes it is just one of those "it'll be ready when its ready" types of things and it doesn't make any sense for them to give us an ETA. They ARE definitely taking suggestions for improvements and appreciate your feedback and apparently their customer support is just a room away from some of the developers so if you have an issue not addressed here or elsewhere on the forums, it can't hurt to give them a call (and wait through the ridiculously long recording before you get to a live person).

Thanks again for all the help Ryan--you rock.

Sorry--the only issues I have info about are the ones I listed above and I posted everything I learned about them so I don't really have any more info to give.

O.o this are second priority bugs.

Please reread my second post...I posted everything I learned and do not know about any other issues or any additional details on the ones I posted about. I have no additional info to give.

Also, for those who have OBVIOUSLY never been involved in any kind of software development, please understand that what you might consider to be a top priority bug isn't necessarily what they would consider one. This is a very complex game across multiple platforms and they only have so many resources to allocate between all the bugs. Just try to be patient and rest assured they are cranking on getting these bug fixes out. I'm not an apologist, I think the game was released too early with this many bugs, but I also have worked at a software company before and believe me when I say that many of peoples expectations on these forums just aren't realistic.

The spinning bug with the joystick is usally cause by your throttle being bound to your look function. I had the same issues. If I set my throttle to zero when I get out of a helicopter I don't spin, but if I don't set it to zero (which is mid position) I will spin like a top.

Make sure they send you a request too... both parties need to send friend requests or they dont show up (for me).

Did you click the envelope on the right side after the friend request..

Friends works fine (except following your friend into a server...that part sucks...but prob has to do with the connect issues)

Interesting--I can see why that would cause this. I'm going to try disabling my throttle binding altogether for the joystick since I use the keyboard for that anyway.

My favorite part of this post, because it implies that EA's policies say communicating through Twitter is OK but using the EA message boards... not?

For some reason my game freezes up frequently at the end of a round. And for what ever other good reason it alway's seem's to be a good one for me. So you are telling me that the game is receiving the info at an EA server and that I will get all this stuff back?

I sure hope your right because that bug is a deal breaker. I got so mad a couple of hour's ago I called my buddy Keith who run's a Best Buy store in our area and told him I was bringing the game back.

To my knowledge yes. I am not an EA employee, I'm just relaying what I was told about my situation with it. I was kind of taken aback with the response since getting back about 4 ranks of XP would be amazing to me so I'll believe it when I see it, but still, very encouraging.

My comment implied no such thing--please don't put words in my mouth. I never said they can't use the message boards. In fact, the rep I spoke with said he had responded to some people on here but due to how crazy things are over there it isn't always possible. In fact, he encouraged me and everyone else to relay any fixes we get when we contact them to the forum to help distribute the information.

Further, my comment was referencing the fact that it is fairly common with software companies to not comment on bug fixes or feature additions. They release them when they are ready and can let people know they are working on things, but generally don't provide details as it just gets them into trouble if an unexpected issue comes up that pushes things back.

All very welcome - I'm just stumped as to why the forums cannot be notified (or announced in the official blog). So much aggrevation could be avoided by COMMUNICATING!
